Earsplit is proud to represent one of the earliest acts to help pioneer American death metal; Massachusetts' POST MORTEM! Formed in 1982 in the outskirts of Boston, POST MORTEM's early releases pre-date virtually any of the major death metal albums often cited as the first US death metal classics. Their rampant tongue-in-cheek meets fist-in-face style of gutsy, punk-infused death-thrash took unsuspecting listeners by storm and the band instantly amassed countless new fans, as well as legions of haters and enemies. With an exceedingly lengthy roster of demos and releases, shows played and fights they've incited over the years, POST MORTEM are easily one of the most influential godfather acts of the extreme metal world.
After several lineup changes, massive internal battles within the band and with their fans, POST MORTEM went on "indefinite hiatus" for most of the 90s. Eventually they reformed in 2003, and began to record a full new album with the same lineup as their classic 1986 Coroner's Office release. Unfortunately the band's fun-loving but antagonistic front man John McCarthy died suddenly of a massive heart attack just two days before his vocal sessions were to begin, and the band and album instantly ground to a halt.
After spending years on the project with McCarthy, PM guitarist John Alexander struggled with ways of completing the album not only for the fans who wanted more POST MORTEM, but also as a final tribute to their fallen brother. After countless ideas, and endless support and help offered from dozens of friends and other bands, plans were finally put into place. Utilizing the scathing vocals of Sigh's Mirai Kawashima for the entire record, as well as guest appearances from Seth Putnam (Anal Cunt and POST MORTEM alumni), Mike Perun (Cianide), Alex Bijazic (Devastation), Mike Keller (Sacrificial Blood) and several longtime friends of the band,Message From The Dead was completed early this year.
Released by the band's own Taboo Productions, Message From The Dead is a testament to pure old-school crushing gore, still bearing the band's trademark gory but comical lyrics atop a filthy mass of punk-influenced circle pit tunes and slug-paced death hymns.
Promo copies of Message From The Dead are available now, as well as interviews with guitarist John Alexander - the member responsible for this record finally seeing the light of day - are available now. Contact Earsplit with all press requests.

Post Mortem was formed on March 22, 1982, in the outskirts of Boston, Massachusetts. The definitive line-up was finally settled on in early 1985. This consisted of: John McCarthy (vocals), John Alexander (guitar), Mark Kelley (bass) and Rick McIver (drums). Their first album, "Coroner's Office" was released in 1986 on New Renaissance records, followed in 1987 by the EP, "The Missing Link" on the same label. In 1989 "Festival of Fun" was recorded, but was deemed as too inaccessible by the label it was recorded and was eventually released on LP and CD. In the early 90’s Red Light records re-issued "Coroner's Office" & "Festival of Fun", as well as the brand new "Destined for Failure" on CD. The sound quality was so horrible on these CD's we considered cult suicide, but limped on wearily. We toured a lot & split up in 1994. Oh yeah, we'll make a new one when our lives are in sync.....logistics, y'know?
