"Because MARDUK bridges so many of the styles that have defined and redefined Scandinavia, and do it with such adeptness, one could argue Wormwood is the ultimate Scandinavian black metal album." -- Metal Centre
"Relentless is a word long associated with MARDUK, so is atmosphere, but now we are introduced to virtuosity." -- Teeth Of The Divine
"...if you like black metal, than it does not get much better than this." -- Blogcritics
"Grim as fuck, they knuckle down and pound out barrage after barrage of searing, slicing black metal evil..." - NYC live review; Kerrang
"Black metal can be trebly and unpleasant on disc, but MARDUK's sound was a room-filling roar, with Mortuus's vocals chewing through the mix like a rabid bear." -- NYC live review; Village Voice
