Philadelphia's riff mongers JAVELINA are set to headline a special Tuesday "Tones of Death" show at Fontana's in NYC tonight, the show also doubling as a listening party/signing with Tim "Ripper" Owens and Richard Christe's new band Charred Walls of the Damned. The show is free... and there's free Pabst Blue Ribbon while it lasts.
The brutes will hit the road in March, stampeding south with a string of shows set up on their way down to Austin, where the band will shred SXSW attendees. Several post-SXSW shows are still in the planning stages and will be announced in mere days.

The burly, bearded bastards JAVELINA unleashed their sophomore album Beasts Among Sheep last September via Translation Loss Records. Listed in Decibel's "Top 40 Records of 2009" list, the album is brimming with the band's brutal brew of sludgy, low-end filth metal as heard on their self-titled 2008 debut. The rabid hymns were captured at Volume Studios in Chicago by Sanford Parker, and mastered at the Boiler Room in Chicago by Collin Jordan. The cover art, as with the previous album, was handled by Jason Goldberg (Olde City Tattoo, The Bad Luck 13 Riot Extravaganza).
