HUNTED SCRIPTUM began as a band towards the end of 2005 in Braga, Portugal. The band’s initial line-up included José Santos (vocals), André Correia (Bass, both ex-members of the band «MORTAL SCRAPS»), Sérgio Brandão (backvocals, guitar), Sandro Emanuel ( both ex-members of the band «DYING MUSE»), and Nélson Pinto (Drums, ex-member of the band «ECOS»).

The band began with a raw, aggressive sound, and soon realized they were aiming at something in the lines of Metal/ Death Metal and last but not least, Trash!

The rehearsals took their first steps in Panoias, a village in Braga’s surroundings. Small gatherings took place to start the engines. All the members would gather for brainstorms, and themes like «Satanic terrorism» would soon pop up in the ears of the few, yet devoted people who followed their work on an early stage.

With the feeling they would still have to practice a lot and develop even more, the band made their first live appearance on August 26th, at the much acclaimed «BRACARA EXTREME FEST». They were substitutes for the band «MOTORNOISE», yet the final critique was very positive and encouraging.

A Demo of a rehearsal was recorded, soon after, at the «Grave Studios», with Pedro Alves, whose sincere criticisms were always great support, encouragement and guidance. The demo was entitled «MMVII» and contained demo versions of the songs «Ut Scriptum Quaero», «The Angel Speech», «Are you scared», and «Prince of Death», plus a bonus track. It was sold at a symbolic price but it was a clever way to «spread the word».

Sérgio entered a contest with his ex-band «DYING MUSE» so that «HUNTED SCRIPTUM» would have a permanent home for rehearsals and reunions, located in Braga’s old Soccer Stadium «1º de Maio».

More raw, agressive and anger fuelled songs came up, being «The Angel speech» and «Leaves Carpet» some of the most fierce and acclaimed. More gigs came up as well, and the band had a chance to develop a style and leave a mark on stage, with the promise that anyone who came to see them wouldn’t be able to stand still!

Towards the end of 2008, Sandro Emanuel left the band and a new member was introduced, a new guitarist called João Pedro, aka Steve. He added some technique, solos, and that little something missing.

It was also by then that the band decided they wanted the Viking influences to show in their melodies and lyrics, also seeking something with some technique. The songs «Munin» and «Calm Sea» were instantly accepted and considered one of the band’s greatest achievements so far. Other songs we’re re-worked: «Leaves Carpet» became «ODIN», with new lyrics and meaning, and some songs now included more speed and new solos!

The band is currently at the «GRAVE STUDIOS» recording a new demo which they intend to turn into a debut EP by the end of 2009. An official photo session took place on March 2009, and a few months later the band finally gained a new face and appearance on myspace!
