Santa Cruz CA's tech-death masters,DECREPIT BIRTH, recently shot a video clip for the song "The Resonance ."

The track comes off their forthcoming release Polarity to be released on July 27th in North America on Nuclear Blast Records.

The video was directed by former VJ/producer for MTV Norway's Headbangers Ball, Ann Christin "Anki" Rihm. Photos from the video shoot can be viewed here.

"We shot our first video last week for 'The Resonance,'" commented the band. "We had a blast shooting late into the night, deep in the dark of the Mojave desert! The director Anki, had a great vision of what she wanted to do. We had a chance to preview some of the footage, and we couldn't be more pleased with what we saw! It was about time for us to do a video and we are glad we had such awesome conditions to shoot our first. Get ready!"

Ann Christin "Anki" Rihm added: "DECREPIT BIRTH is no ordinary death metal band and my goal was to capture that. I chose to build the set in an as natural environment/setting as possible and put much effort into how to light the set to give the video the exact look and feeling I wanted. My main focus was to make it seem as organic and natural as possible but keeping an developing change that turns into a very massive final look. The video was shot for 12 hours straight in the desert 3 hours outside LA. The guys were incredibly easy to work with and we had so much fun and a very good time making this video!"

Drums for Polarity were recorded at Sharkbite Studios (EXODUS) with producer Zack Ohren (ALL SHALL PERISH, SUFFOCATION, IMMOLATION) while all other tracking was handled by Matt Sotelo before being mixed by Ohren at Castle Ultimate Studios.

Guitarist Matt Sotelo commented on the new material as well as their being added to this years Summer Slaughter tour:

Guitarist Matt Sotelo explained the meaning behind the cover:

"Dan's art fits the overall theme of the album perfectly. We had approached Dan with some ideas at a show of ours he attended. It was really cool to finally meet Dan in person and get the chance to explain to him some of our song themes as well as ideas for the new album cover. We could tell that he was excited to help us on this one! The cover depicts images of ancient energies and balance, which is something that is personal for us, and perfectly reflects our abstract lyrical and musical style. Dan's art is so unmistakable!"

Artist Dan Seagrave offered an even more in depth reasoning behind his artistic interpretation:

"It is the vision of a transcendental nightmare. where the perception of technological power has gone beyond the will of the author. In the slumbering cohesive minds of the human race, and the absence of communicative truth between people, their social masks become their Sarcophagi. A telepathic cult is formed that fells the earth, reducing it to an atomic level. Its information trapped in mirrored shards. Through this energy, distant echos of images are glimpsed, particles reform, and a new chronozone period is born, set adrift at a dawnless epoch."
