Fans of 'Heavy Metal' more vulnerable to mental disorders



Fans of 'heavy metal' are more likely to suffer from mental disorders such as depression. The revelation is an Australian study of the Melbourne  University.


The analysis focused on 50 young people aged between 13 and 18 years, and is also based on surveys of more than one thousand people, which concluded that the metal lovers use music in a negative way.


"Adolescents at risk for depression tend to listen to music, especially 'heavy metal' in a negative way," says Katrina McFerran, a doctor who directed the study, quoted by website Music Radar.


According to the expert, maintain behaviors such as listen  always  to the same disk is typical of 'metalheads', which can lead to isolation and contribute, "large scale" for anxiety, depression and even suicidal tendencies.
