In the final days of 2011, Heaven and Hell Records released DOGBANE's Residual Alcatraz and the buzz has continued unabated ever since. The North Carolina quintet exploded onto the scene with this lordly debut of traditional heavy metal flavored with doomy goodness. Citing Trouble and Pentagram as two of the band's main influences, these southern gentlemen proudly wear it on their sleeves. With a solid rhythm section, dual guitars, and the Halford-esque vocals of Jeff Neal, DOGBANE has crafted an absolute stunner.
Residual Alcatraz was recorded and produced by DOGBANE and mastered by Gary Long (King Diamond, Solitude Aeturnus), while the album art comes courtesy of Wayne Miller who is best known for his work on the covers of numerous horror novels.
These days the term "traditional heavy metal" is used in ways both careless and uninformed. But when one asks "what is traditional heavy metal" now, the answer is a simple one. It is DOGBANE.
RIYL: Trouble, Pentagram, Brocas Helm, Manilla Road, and early Judas Priest, Hell, and fans of real heavy metal!
