AUTHOR & PUNISHER Live Rituals To Commence Next Week

In just one week, AUTHOR & PUNISHER – one Tristan Shone -- will embark upon a 19-date North American trek supporting Philip H. Anselmo & The Illegals. Fitting dubbed the Technicians Of Distortion Tour, the long-anticipated journey will commence July 31st in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Additional support will be provided by Warbeast.

Comments Shone of the upcoming adventure: “I knew I had to step it up when Phil asked me to join this tour...the result is my most ambitious live undertaking. I have worked myself to a bloody pulp soldering, rewiring, building, to make things stronger, louder and more devastating.  I also am bringing a small team along with me as well to help with live video streaming, cameras etc.  This will for sure be a raucous affair not to be missed...."

AUTHOR & PUNISHER mercilessly manipulate the principal conventions of doom, industrial and heavy bass music relying on cold steel and soulless machinery to sonically replicate the despondency of life. Described most succinctly as “industrial doom,” this one-man project utilizes primarily custom designed and fabricated machines and speakers, devices that draw heavily on aspects of industrial automation and robotics and focus upon the eroticism of interaction with machine. Through his maniacal audio decomposition, Shone paints an often disturbing soundtrack of a world gone rotten.

AUTHOR & PUNISHER: Album Details Revealed The Man Machine Tour 2013 To Begin

West Coast-based AUTHOR & PUNISHER, the long-running, one-man industrial doom project propagated by iconic sound contortionist Tristan Shone, is pleased to announce his fifth and latest creation of audio rebellion. TitledWomen & Children, the follow up to last year’s critically lauded Ursus Americanus full-length further challenges the traditional confines of extreme music with eight tracks of audio exploration and mechanical decomposition.

Shone elaborates: "AUTHOR & PUNISHER's newest sonic endeavor combines elements of both machines and more traditional apparati to stretch and blur the dynamic palette from doom to industrial, to heavy bass music, and back again."

Adds Seventh Rule Recordings label head Scott Flaster: "The new AUTHOR & PUNISHER? On first listen I was thrown into a grey world where the bleakness of early industrial music layered with a heavier contemporary dirge. "

Women & Children will be released on April 30 via Seventh Rule Recordings. View the cover art at THIS LOCATION.

Iconoclastic in the truest sense of the word, Tristan Shone inverts the tenets of doom metal completely, relying on cold steel and soulless machinery to bring despondency to life. Described most succinctly as “industrial doom,” this one-man project utilizes primarily custom designed and fabricated machines and speakers, devices that draw heavily on aspects of industrial automation and robotics and focus upon the eroticism of interaction with machine. The machines are designed to require significant force from the performer, aligning he/she with the plodding doom-influenced sounds that are created. AUTHOR & PUNISHER has performed with and shown these machines extensively at festivals and exhibitions in the United States and abroad.

AUTHOR & PUNISHER: The Man Machine Tour 2013 Announced

San Diego's AUTHOR & PUNISHER, the long-running, one-man industrial doom project propagated by sound exhibitionist Tristan Shone, will bring his fascinating sonic defiance to the road this Spring alongside A Life Once Lost (on select dates). Dubbed The Man Machine Tour 2013, the live rituals will commence on March 15th in Tucson, Arizona and work its way through 14 cities with more dates to be announced in the coming weeks.

Shone will be touring in support of the critically-lauded Ursus Americanus full-length, released last Spring via Seventh Rule Recordings. Called a “oneman musical symbiosis of metal and flesh,” by The Sleeping Shaman who commended the record’s “progressive atmospheric tension,” Ursus Americanus continues to raise eyebrows with its subversive audio cacophony. The offering reaped the #30 position on Decibel Magazine’s coveted Top 40 Albums Of 2012 list, the esteemed publication noting that “it’s impossible to hear Tristan Shone’s fourth album as AUTHOR & PUNISHER without feeling an essential part of yourself being destroyed and remade in some gloriously awful way.” MSN Metal likened the quaking sounds of AUTHOR & PUNISHER to a Frankensteined merge of Godflesh and The Bug meets Flying Lotus while the San Diego Reader predicted Ursus Americanus will “more than likely be remembered as a landmark of AUTHOR & PUNISHER’s bourgeoning reign in the charred goat skin chronicles of heavy metal nobility.”
