Regain To Release Limited Edition 20th Anniversary Box Set in 2011

Having recently returned from a successful stint on the coveted Blackest Of The Black tour through North America playing alongside Danzig and Possessed (among many others), Swedish black metal squadron MARDUK recently set out to destroy Asia. The tour kicked off this weekend in China and will pummel its way through Singapore and several locations in Indonesia before drawing to a close on December 12th.

In related news, the MARDUK collective is celebrating 20 wrathful years of blood and iron since forming in 1990. Stronger than ever before, Regain will commemorate the band's 20th anniversary with a limited edition box set to be released in early 2011. The box will document the first two decades of MARDUK. Swedish black metallers MARDUK are currently readying for their triumphant return to the U.S. later this month as part of the coveted Blackest Of The Black tour, founded by Danzig frontman/legend Glenn Danzig in 2003 as a way to promote extreme bands of his choosing from around the globe. The 2010 edition will officially kick off on October 25 and wind its way through over a dozen cities before making its last stop in mid November. Additional support will be provided by Possessed, Toxic Holocaust and Withered. MARDUK will also be doing a handful of headlining shows throughout the tour in Arizona, Oklahoma, Ohio, Iowa, South Dakota, Utah, Nevada and California. Via the latest tour dates below:

MARDUK have been touring the globe in support of Wormwood, their eleventh studio album released last October via Regain Records. Wormwood found its way to the top of year end lists both domestically and abroad and continues to reap praise among listeners nearly a year after its release . Decibel Magazine gave it a 9/10 review saying, "Wormwood…drives home grim nails of varying shapes and sizes – all black ones of course…repeated listens reveal deeper abysses.” Blabbermouth commended the band for, “…an atmosphere that continues to be cold and uncomfortably morose, made even more sinister by a bass tone that is not only thick and audible, but also value-additive,” while KNAC.com noted, “along with Mortuus' obtuse lyrics and guttural, phlegmy vocals,MARDUK's surprisingly crafty compositions…and deft use of effects --- as opposed to rote orchestration -- give them an air of sophistication and guile you don't often find in black metal.” Added Kerrang in a review of their New York City performance last year: “…grim as fuck, they knuckle down and pound out barrage after barrage of searing, slicing black metal evil…”
