Empyrium And Bloodline Members Join Eudaimony Lineup

SCHWADORF
EUDAIMONY, the band formed by former DARK FORTRESS frontman Matthias Jell and Marcus E. Norman (NAGLFAR, BEWITCHED, HAVAYOTH, ANCIENT WISDOM) have announced a lineup change that sees the arrival of two new members.  Schwadorf of EMPYRIUM and THE VISION BLEAK joins on guitars, synthesizers and programming , whilst BLOODLINE's Patrik Hellström joins on bass.  Aside from Jell on vocals and Norman on guitars, synthesizer and programming, EUDAIMONY's lineup also includes Jörg Heemann (former SECRETS OF THE MOON) on drums and Peter Honsalek (former NACHTREICH) on viola and piano.  The arrival of Schwadorf and Hellström turns the former four-piece into a formidable six-piece.

Commenting on the decision to augment EUDAIMONY's  lineup Jell stated: "Half a year has passed since the release of our debut full-length album "Futile", and so far the feedback we have received on it has been overwhelming, so much so, in fact, that it has increased our belief in the project a hundredfold. Both Hellström and Schwadorf have shown a great deal of enthusiasm for what EUDAIMONY is about and what we want to achieve, and this, together with their considerable skills and their long-time experience on the music scene makes them the perfect fit for the band.   We are convinced that  the addition of  Schwadorf and Hellström as permanent, full-time members of EUDAIMONY will push our creative output to new levels".

PATRIK HELLSTRÖM
Schwadorf had this to say about joining EUDAIMONY: "Being a big fan of their music, I am particularly happy to become a part of EUDAIMONY, and to be able to share my musical creativity with the rest of the guys, and not just my production and mixing duties as I did on "Futile".  I'm very much looking forward to contributing my ideas on guitar, and anything else that's called for come to that!"

Work has already begun on the band's second full-length album, and both new members will be fully involved in the whole process.  It is expected that the album will be ready for release in 2015, and no decision as yet has been taken as to which label will release it.

Three tracks from EUDAIMONY, including the title track from the band's debut full-length album "Futile", and "Portraits", which features guest vocals from Mick Moss of ANTIMATTER, can be heard via the band's SoundCloud player.

Eudaimony Releases Video Teaser For Upcoming Album "Futile"

A video teaser for “Futile” the debut full-length album from EUDAIMONY, the band formed by former DARK FORTRESS frontman Matthias Jell and NAGLFAR’s Marcus E. Norman (BEWITCHED, HAVAYOTH, ANCIENT WISDOM)  has been released on YouTube.  The video was created by Sebastian Schneider of Sonic Room Recordings and features excerpts from all the tracks from the eight track album, as well as some of the album artwork which was designed by Ben Borucki (Irrleuchten) from the German band SONIC REIGN.  The video can be seen below.

Aside from Jell on vocals and Norman on guitars, bass, synthesizer and programming, EUDAIMONY’s German/Swedish lineup also includes Jörg Heemann (SECRETS OF THE MOON) on drums and Peter Honsalek (NACHTREICH) on viola. Despite a lineup that could suggest a style of music that belongs somewhere within the Black Metal/DSBM genres, EUDAIMONY charts its own individual path as the band explores the hopelessness and futility of life, musically, visually and lyrically, with the use of rich melodies that are at times gentle and haunting and at times dark and brooding.  Guests on the album, which was mixed and mastered by Markus Stock at the Klangschmiede Studio E, include Mick Moss of ANTIMATTER and Schwadorf of EMPYRIUM and THE VISION BLEAK.

Track listing for “Futile”, which will hit the streets on the Cold Dimensions label on the 29th November is as follows:

Eudaimony

1. Ways to Indifference
2. Mute
3. A Window in the Attic
4. Futile
5. Portraits (guest vocals by Mick Moss)
6. Cold
7. Godforsaken
8. December’s Hearse (guest vocals by Schwadorf)

“Futile”, the title track from EUDAIMONY’s upcoming album can be heard below.

RELEASE DATE SET FOR UPCOMING ALBUM FROM EUDAIMONY

The 29th of November is the date that has been set for the release of “Futile” the debut full-length album from EUDAIMONY, the band formed by former DARK FORTRESS frontman Matthias Jell and NAGLFAR’s Marcus E. Norman (BEWITCHED, HAVAYOTH, ANCIENT WISDOM).  The eight-track album, which will be released on Germany’s Cold Dimensions label, includes guest appearances by Mick Moss of ANTIMATTER and Schwadorf of EMPYRIUM and THE VISION BLEAK.  The vocal recordings, mixing and mastering of “Futile” were carried out by Markus Stock at the Klangschmeide Studio E and the album artwork is by Ben Borucki (Irrleuchten) from the German band SONIC REIGN. The title track from “Futile” was debuted recently and can be heard below.

Track listing for “Futile” as follows:
1. Ways to Indifference
2. Mute
3. A Window in the Attic
4. Futile
5. Portraits (guest vocals by Mick Moss)
6. Cold
7. Godforsaken
8. December’s Hearse (guest vocals by Schwadorf)

With a lineup that includes Jell on vocals and Norman on guitars, bass, synthesizer and programming, Jörg Heemann (SECRETS OF THE MOON) on drums and Peter Honsalek (NACHTREICH) on viola, the natural assumption would be that EUDAIMONY’s music fits somewhere within the Black Metal/DSBM genres.  But that is too simplistic an assumption to make where EUDAIMONY is concerned, because this is a band that explores the hopelessness and futility of life, both lyrically and visually, as exemplified in Jell’s lyrics and the sense of mystery in Borucki’s artwork, whilst the music itself forms an atmospheric soundscape of rich melodies that range from the fragile and haunting to the powerfully dark and brooding.

EUDAIMONY REVEALS ARTWORK AND TRACK LISTING FOR UPCOMING ALBUM

With their debut full-length album set for release in the autumn, EUDAIMONY, the Swedish/German band that features current and former members of NAGLFAR, DARK FORTRESS, NACHTREICH and SECRETS OF THE MOON in its lineup, has today announced the  full track-listing for the 8-track album “Futile”, which features a guest appearance by ANTIMATTER’s Mick Moss.   The newly completed artwork for the album is by Ben Borucki (Irrleuchten) from the German band SONIC REIGN. Full track listing for “Futile”, which will be released on the Cold Dimensions label, is as follows:

1. Ways to Indifference
2. Mute
3. A Window in the Attic
4. Futile
5. Portraits
6. Cold
7. Godforsaken
9. December’s Hearse

Although formed back in 2007 by former DARK FORTRESS frontman Matthias Jell and Marcus E. Norman (NAGLFAR, BEWITCHED, HAVAYOTH, ANCIENT WISDOM), EUDAIMONY only recorded three songs before the schedules of all its members, which, aside from Jell on vocals and Norman on guitars, bass, synthesizer and programming includes of Jörg Heemann (SECRETS OF THE MOON) on drums and Peter Honsalek (NACHTREICH) on viola and piano, caught up with the band.  Added to this were a few label issues that had to be resolved, so things were put on the back burner until March 2013 when everyone was finally free to begin recording the band’s debut full-length album.

EUDAIMONY recently debuted the title track from the album, and although many see the band’s logical home as being within the Black Metal and Depressive Black Metal genres, mainly because of the backgrounds of its members, Jell was quick to point out that this should really not be the case.  “EUDAIMONY’s music is about emotional hopelessness and the futility of life, and is a world away from the usual subject matters that Black Metal tends to deal with.  The whole visual and the lyrical concepts of EUDAIMIONY combine together to send out the message that the end of our lives begins from the instant we first draw breath, happiness on earth is just an illusion and life itself has no sense except in death.  The debut track “Futile” can be heard via EUDAIMONY’s SoundCloud page.

EUDAIMONY DEBUTS TRACK FROM UPCOMING ALBUM “FUTILE”

EUDAIMONY, the band that features current and former members of NAGLFAR, DARK FORTRESS, NACHTREICH and SECRETS OF THE MOON in its lineup, has debuted the title track from the forthcoming album “Futile”, which is set for release on the Cold Dimensions label in the autumn.   The track can be heard on EUDAIMONY’s SoundCloud page.

The band was formed in 2007 by Matthias Jell (ex DARK FORTRESS) and Marcus E. Norman (NAGLFAR, BEWITCHED, HAVAYOTH, ANCIENT WISDOM), and, having written and recorded three songs quite early on, EUDAIMONY has been somewhat tardy in completing and releasing their debut album, due mainly to the commitments of the various members to their other projects, as well as some label issues.  With a new label in place, EUDAIMONY was free to begin recording “Futile” in March 2013.  The album, which includes a guest appearance on vocals by ANTIMATTER’s Mick Moss, was mixed and mastered by Markus Stock (EMPYRIUM, THE VISION BLEAK) at the Klangschmiede Studio E in Germany.  Artwork for “Futile” is by Ben Borucki (SONIC REIGN).

As well as Jell on vocals and Norman on guitars, bass, synthesizer and programming, EUDAIMONY’s line up consists of Jörg Heemann (SECRETS OF THE MOON) on drums and Peter Honsalek (NACHTREICH) on viola and piano.  Given the sick, disturbing and negative subject matter the band has chosen to write about, it is inevitable that EUDAIMONY would be slotted into the Black Metal and Depressive Black Metal genres, a misconception frontman Jell is keen to correct:  “We realise that unfortunately the Black Metal tag is going to follow us around given our respective backgrounds, but EUDAIMONY really sits uneasily in this kind of categorisation.  Our music, our lyrics and our visual concepts deal with emotional hopelessness and the futility of life, rather than the usual subject matters you tend to find in Black Metal and its various sub-genres”.

EUDAIMONY reveals first details of upcoming album

With a line up that consists of Matthias Jell (ex DARK FORTRESS) on vocals, Marcus E. Norman (NAGLFAR, BEWITCHED, HAVAYOTH, ANCIENT WISDOM) on guitars, Jörg Heemann (SECRETS OF THE MOON) on drums and Peter Honsalek (NACHTREICH) on viola and piano, it was obvious right from the start that EUDAIMONY was a band that was going to be able to offer not just music from vastly experienced musician, but music from musicians whose individual bodies of work command respect. Formed in 2007 by Jell and Norman, EUDAIMONY was to become the vehicle that would allow its members to express their views on every-day life in today’s society. In other words the music they set about producing was inevitably going to be sick, disturbing and negative.

EUDAIMONY's founders, Jell and Norman, met together in Umeå, Sweden, and three songs were written and recorded early on in the band’s career, one of which, “A Window in the Attic”,can be heard on the EUDAIMONY SoundCloud page at http://soundcloud.com/eudaimony/eudaimony-a-window-in-the. However, a few label problems and the demands of the member’s other projects caused EUDAIMONY to be put on the back-burner for a few years. Until November of 2012 to be exact, when the band signed with the German label Cold Dimensions and plans were finally set in motion to record a debut full-length album.

With the members living in Germany and Sweden, recording began in March 2013 in separate studios. Heeman recording his drums at the NekroWerk Studio in Germany, and Jell, also in Germany, laying down his vocals at the Klangschmiede Studio E; whilst Norman and Honsalek recorded their instrumental parts in their home studios. Mixing and mastering is taking place at the Klangschmiede Studio E during April, with Markus Stock (EMPYRIUM, THE VISION BLEAK) at the helm. It is anticipated that the album, which will be titled “Futile”, will be released during the autumn of this year. Artwork for “Futile” is by Ben Borucki (SONIC REIGN). ANTIMATTER’s Mick Moss will be performing guest vocals.

Commenting both on the album and on the band itself, frontman Jell had this to say: “We’ve seen EUDAIMONY tagged as Black Metal and Depressive Black Metal, and I suppose it’s inevitable given the background of the members. But we can’t stress enough that EUDAIMONY has nothing at all to do with Black Metal or any of its myriad offshoots. EUDAIMONY is about emotional hopelessness and the bleakness that life has to offer. The title of the album itself is fairly indicative of the atmosphere we have chosen to create and the concept we have chosen to explore. The whole album deals with the futility of life. The visual and the lyrical concept have one main message in common: from the instant we draw our first breath we begin to die. Life has no sense except in death. All joy on earth is just an illusion until the curtain falls”.
