SABATON + ELUVEITIE + WISDOM: OCTOBER 6th, HARD CLUB

Swedish epic power metallers Sabaton can look back on a triumphal march: sold out shows, fantastic albums chock-full of epic power metal, thrilled fans worldwide. “Carolus Rex” is the seventh Sabaton studio album and boasts plenty of future metal anthems plus a sophisticated lyrical concept about the swedish king Carl XII. You can be assured that energetic front man Joakim Brodén and his kinsmen will unleash another gigantic live experience in Porto.

Sabaton will be joined by swiss act Eluveitie who can rightfully be called the leaders of the new wave of folk metal. Their latest opus magnum “Helvetios” saw them walk on new paths in the folk pagan metal sector and made them shine as magnificent songwriters.

Hungary’s Wisdom who serve us hymnic and melodic power metal will be in charge of opening this unique show at Hard Club, in Oporto, on the 6th October.

ELUVEITIE Posted New Lyric Video "Your Gaulish War"

ELUVEITIE have posted a new lyric video for the re-mastered version "Your Gaulish War," as it will appear on the band's upcoming 10-years-anniversary release THE EARLY YEARS, out on August 17th (EU) and September 25, 2012 (NA) via Nuclear Blast Records.

"The Early Years" includes a completely re-recorded version of the very first EP "Vên" from 2003 and a re-mastered version of the debut album "Spirit" from 2006, on which "Your Gaulish War" originally appeared.

Depois de anunciadas as presenças de ARCH ENEMY, OVERKILL, ARCTURUS, ENSLAVED, TEXTURES e NORTHLAND na IV Edição do festival Vagos Open Air, chega a altura de revelar duas novas adições ao cartaz, sendo que ambas vêm engrandecer ainda mais o evento que, nos dias 3 e 4 de agosto, vai transformar a Lagoa de Galvão numa verdadeira Meca do metal contemporâneo. Os suíços ELUVEITIE e os taiwaneses CHTHONIC estão entre as mais bem sucedidas, excitantes e exóticas propostas da música extrema feita neste novo milénio, provando que a qualidade dentro deste género musical não conhece fronteiras, raças ou credos. Com as suas respetivas abordagens muito próprias ao folk e ao black metal, respetivamente, são dois nomes que vêm também reforçar a natureza versátil e o caráter eclético que se pretende de um festival que, com suas muito bem sucedidas primeiras três edições, já se afirmou como um ponto de paragem obrigatória para todos os que querem ouvir e ver ao vivo a melhor música pesada que se vai fazendo atualmente a nível mundial.

Os ELUVEITIE nasceram, corria o ano de 2002, em Winterthur, uma pequena comuna da Suíça, com pouco mais de 100 000 habitantes. Talvez tenha sido precisamente o isolamento e a parca tradição no que toca à música pesada na sua região que inspirou Chrigel Glanzmann a criar uma visão muito pessoal do metal. Pegando no thrash/death melódico feito segundo as regras estabelecidas em Gotemburgo durante os anos 90, o multi-instrumentista injetou-lhe melodias tradicionais celtas e, através do uso de instrumentos como a flauta e a gaita de foles, surpreendeu muita gente em 2006 com «Spirit», a estreia do projeto em álbum. Originalmente idealizados apenas como uma experiência de estúdio, os ELUVEITIE acabaram por transformar-se numa banda a sério e, logo no ano seguinte, assinaram contrato com a Nuclear Blast para a edição do segundo registo de originais. «Slania» tomou de assalto as tabelas de vendas na Suíça e na Alemanha e, desde então, o coletivo não parou de conquistar seguidores. Em 2009 arriscaram tudo e gravaram um disco acústico, que se revelou um enorme sucesso junto dos apreciadores de folk e os viu tocar perante plateias rendidas por toda a Europa e Estados Unidos. «Everything Remains As It Always Was», de 2010, marcou o regresso ao peso que caracterizou os primeiros álbuns e agora, já com quatro discos e centenas de concertos na bagagem, os oito músicos estão prontos para conquistar o resto do mundo com o novo «Helvetios».

Os CHTHONIC, por seu lado, vêm de um país – Taiwan, também conhecido como Ilha Formosa – que não tem tradição absolutamente nenhuma em termos de rock... Muito menos de qualquer tipo de expressão artística extrema. No entanto, isso não impediu Freddy Lim, Jesse Liu, Doris Yeh, CJ Kao e Dani Wang de, em 1995, darem os primeiros passos na criação da sua própria versão do death/black metal melódico e de, eventualmente, se transformarem na primeira banda do seu país a ganhar exposição a nível internacional. Com a edição dos três primeiros discos de longa-duração, o grupo começou a gerar algum falatório à sua volta a nível underground, mas foi finalmente com o lançamento de «Seediq Bale», dez anos depois da formação do grupo, que ganharam o reconhecimento merecido fora do seu país de origem. A peculiar fusão de metal moderno com elementos tradicionais da música taiwanesa – com destaque para a inteligente utilização do hena, um instrumento semelhante ao violino ocidental – transformou-os no primeiro coletivo asiático a integrar o cartaz do gigantesco festival itinerante Ozzfest e a singularidade da música do quinteto, aliada a uma imagem muito forte e a espetáculos demolidores ao lado de nomes consagrados como Cradle Of Filth e Nile, valeu-lhes um Golden Music Award. «Mirror Of Retribution» e «Takasago Army», de 2009 e 2011, permitiram-lhes dar continuidade ao processo de crescimento e vieram solidificar de uma vez por todas a sua posição como uma das propostas mais invulgares e peculiares no espectro da música pesada atual.

Apesar do aumento do IVA, o preço dos bilhetes para o Vagos Open Air 2012 não será alterado, mantendo-se o bilhete diário a 30,00 euros e o passe 2 dias a 50,00 euros. Passe já à venda nos locais habituais.

ELUVEITIE - NEW ALBUM COVER REVEALED + NORTH AMERICAN TOUR STARTS THIS WEEK!

Swiss pagan horde ELUVEITIE have just finished the recording sessions for their new album and are currently mixing the the new songs with Colin Richardson (SLIPKNOT, MACHINE HEAD, KREATOR, BEHEMOTH, BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE etc.) and Martyn “Ginge” Ford. The band has announced Everything Remains As It Never Was as the title to the groups fourth full length release.

Vocalist/Mastermind Chrigel Glanzmann commented while taking a break from the mixing session taking place in Wales:

"Somehow it seems almost unreal to me: The recordings for our upcoming album are finished! Right now I’m in the Welsh Nott-In Pill studios with Colin Richardson and Martyn “Ginge” Ford working on the mix of the album. Believe me, the mix will be mind-blowing! What can I say? Colin is just a pure genius!

We can look back at two extremely intense months of working our asses off recording the album. It has been an intense, exhausting, but also satisfying time with all of us giving 150% in. Many things developed very spontaneously and songs became very authentic, pure and genuine.

Speaking of the recording I have to mention the amazing job of Tommy Vetterli (CORONER), who really worked his balls off for the album! Once again, he assured his position among the world’s best engineers. Colin Richardson stated about his work: ‘one of the best drum and guitar trackings I’ve ever heard’!

Artwork has again been done by the famous artist Travis Smith, who previously did the cover for Spirit.

Lyrically the album consists of diverse stories and narrations from ancient Gallia. Historical occurrences and fates of individuals as well as myths and legends bequeathed throughout the centuries. Yet the lyrics pretty much focus on the human aspects of those historical happenings and also behold them with some questioning with a slightly bitter-sweet smile, being well aware of the fact that today we simply cannot tell, how things exactly have been back then. But enough babble for now – back to some mixing work!”

ELUVEITIE’s new album Everything Remains As It Never Was is tentatively scheduled for release in spring 2010!
