PROG ROCKERS AIRBAG RELEASE DIGITAL SINGLE AHEAD OF UPCOMING SOPHOMORE ALBUM

Karisma Records are set to release a digital single from Prog Rockers AIRBAG on the 5th of September in advance of the scheduled October 17 release of the band’s sophomore album “All Rights Removed”.    The single, “Homesick (Part I)”, is a special edit of the closing track from “All Rights Removed”, and will be available from all the usual digital distributors.

Formed in Oslo, Norway, in 2005, AIRBAG, whose line up includes front man Asle Tostrup, Bjørn Riis on guitars and vocals, Jørgen Hagen on keyboards, Henrik Fossum on drums and Anders Hovdan on bass, has created its own unique sound by taking elements from classic and progressive rock, chill and jazz, and melded them into what Classical Rock Magazine described as “prog at its most chilled, honeyed and soothing”.  Since AIRBAG’s inception, the band has continued to expand its stage performances, with strong visuals and the extensive use of backdrop film to underline the music.
AIRBAG’s first album “Identity” was released on Karisma Records in 2009, and was hailed as one of the best progressive releases of that year.  The upcoming second album, “All Rights Removed”, sees AIRBAG take a more conceptual direction, with long, epic pieces and dramatic instrumentation.  It is very much the product of a strong collaboration within the band that focuses on both the lyrics and the music, and has taken almost two years to write, record and produce, and the result is a massive sound and stronger than ever musical performances.
The band will launch “All Rights Reserved” at a release concert at the John Dee in Oslo on the 23rd September, and more information about AIRBAG can be found on the band’s website.
Below you can see the official video of AIRBAG playing Homesick (Part I)” live at a recent concert in Oslo.

D’ACCORD TO RELEASE SOPHOMORE ALBUM ON KARISMA RECORDS IN SEPTEMBER

Anyone in the music business will tell you that the second album is always the one everyone dreads, but Norway’s D’AccorD are tackling the “curse” of the sophomore head on. Rather than playing it safe, the Prog Rockers have chosen to release an ambitious two-track concept album titled “Helike” which is based on the story of the real Atlantis. Preferring to let the music tell the story, the two tracks, each coming in at over 20 minutes in length, are titled simply “Helike Part 1” and ”Helike Part 2”. Mastered by Grammy nominated Andy Jackson who has worked with Pink Floyd amongst others, with cover art by Man In The Mountain (Keith EmersonNeal Morse,Transatlantic etc), “Helike” is set for release on Karisma Records on the 5th of September.

Formed in Stord in 2008 D’AccorD ‘s lineup is comprised of charismatic frontman Daniel Maage(Vocals, Flute & various instruments), Årstein "YearstoneTislevoll (Keyboards, Violin, Guitar, Mandolin), Fredrik Errol Horn (Keyboards & Saxophone), Martin Sjøen (Bass) and Bjarte Rossehaug (Drums), Stig Are S(o)und (Guitar). Drawing inspiration from 70’s bands like Genesis, King Crimson, Pink Floyd and Jethro Tull, D’AccorD self-released their Prog Awards nominated debut album in 2009, and played extensively both at home and at various festivals, generating a lot of interest amongst Prog Rock fans and press. Having used the intervening years to extract the best from 70’s Prog Rock and give it a fresh, up to date, approach, “Helike” is without a doubt a big leap forward for the band, both in terms of growth and substance. More information aboutD’AccorD can be found at daccord.music

Cor Scorpii "Heart of the Scorpion"

Cor Scorpii was formed in late 2004 by former Windir/Ulcus keyboard player Gaute Refsnes.

After the tragic death of Terje "Valfar" Bakken and the following Windir farewell concert, the time was right to put some of his own musical ideas into a new band. Former band mates Stian Bakketeig (lead guitars) and Jørn Holen (drums) joined, and the line-up was completed by Thomas Øvstedal (vocals), Rune Sjøthun (rythm guitars) and Inge Jonny Lomheim (bass).

In july 2005, Cor Scorpii entered Studio 1184 and Amla Metal Studio, in order to record their first demo. "Attergangar" consisted of 4 tracks of extreme metal, with emphasis on melodies, aggression and atmospheres. The demo was highly praised by both fans and press, and was among other things awarded demo of the month in Metal Hammer Germany. The demo also caught the attention of various record labels, and Cor Scorpii signed a deal with Dutch label Descent Productions.

After the release of the demo, Jørn Holen parted ways with the band, due to his domestic situation and his obligations to Vreid. After an extensive search for a new drummer, Ole "Vargon" Nordsve (Celebratum, The Embraced, ex-Hellstorm) joined the band towards the end of 2006.

In july/august 2007, time had come to record the debut full-length album. Cor Scorpii entered Børge Finstad's Top Room Studio, where the album entitled Monument, was recorded and mixed. The album was mastered in the renowned studio Tailor Maid, and released by Descent Productions in 2008. The album once again got great response from the metal press, but due to the label's financial difficulties, it barely reached the fans. The band decided to break the contract and soon after signed a deal with Norwegian label Dark Essence Records which was re-release "Monument" on March 1st 2010. The release will also include remastered versions of the Attergangar-demo.
