KORPIUS Announce Member Change, Summer Dates

Canadian death black metallers KORPIUS have announced the appointment of Alexandre Maillé on lead guitar as a replacement for founding guitarist/vocalist Philippe d’Astous.

KORPIUS was formed in 2003 by guitarists Philippe d’Astous and Maxime Berriault, who both shared lead vocal duties. KORPIUS have shared the stage with Despised Icon, Neuraxis, Krisiun, Belphagor, and many more since their inception. Max comments on Phillip’s departure: “We regret to announce the departure of one of KORPIUS’ original founding members, and we wish Phil all the best in his new academic career. Things are really working out great with Alex, and we welcome him on board. Alex and myself have most of the songs written for our sophomore album due in 2014, and we will be showcasing a few new songs during our Live shows !”

Maple Metal Records released KORPIUS’ debut album ‘Shades Of Black’ in 2011.

KORPIUS - reveals release date of "Shades of Black"

KORPIUS will release their debut full-length album worldwide through MAPLE METAL RECORDS (Toronto/Canada) on April 4th entitled ‘Shades Of Black’.

KORPIUS was formed in 2003 by guitarists Philippe d’Astous and Maxime Berriault, who share the lead vocal duties, and are rounded out by Félix Lampron-Dandonneau on bass and Paul Côté-Bérard on drums. KORPIUS have released 2 EPs in the past: a 6 song self-titled EP, ‘Korpius’ in 2006, and the latter a 4 song EP entitled ‘Apocalyptic Vision’ was released by Cryogenic Records in 2007.

This quartet plays a blackened style of death metal, combining modern blast-beat brutality, progressive elements, epic riffs and melodic solos, to produce a fresh sound. The mix of guttural and high-pitched vocals at the same time is one of the distinctive landmarks of the band.

KORPIUS have also carved a name for themselves as being a stellar force and a ‘must see Live act’ on the Quebec metal circuit over their short career, having already played with Despised Icon, Neuraxis, Krisiun, Belphagor, and many more.

KORPIUS will co-headline the Sherbrooke Assault mini-tour of Quebec with My Fatality and Cold Insanity, in February, where they will feature new material off their upcoming album.
