Hamilton, Ontario-based Sonic Unyon Metal are proud to announce the multi-album signing of noise-doom duo MARES OF THRACE to their label's ever-expanding roster.

Based out of Calgary, Alberta, the crushing MARES OF THRACE is comprised simply of guitarist/vocalist Thérèse Lanz and drummer Stefani MacKichan, who coalesce their talents into an organic style of beautiful and destructive atmospheric doom-laden metal.

“Some of the most influential records in my life, from way back in the 90s up till now, were Sonic Unyon releases,” says Lanz about the signing. “It's impossible to understate the impact the label has had on Canadian independent music. Accordingly we are incredibly proud and stoked to partner with Sonic Unyon Metal for our upcoming records."

MARES OF THRACE released their debut album The Moulting in 2010 via Arctodus Records. The Moulting was instantaneously well-received by North American press outlets including Decibel, Revolver, Blabbermouth, even scoring the #1 spot on Hellbound.ca's Canadian metal album of the year list. The band toured Canada in support of the album immediately after its release, followed by a US tour in 2011. Additionally, Thérèse played bass for KEN Mode for the first half of 2011, touring with them in support of their latest album Venerable (Profound Lore).

The newly completed new LP from MARES OF THRACE, and first for Sonic Unyon Metal, is entitled The Pilgrimage. Recorded in October and November of 2011 at Chicago’s Engine Studio with producer Sanford Parker (Nachtmystium, Pelican, YOB) and mastered by Collin Jordan at Boiler Room, the final touches on the release are being handled now, preparing the album for worldwide release this April.

Stay tuned for more info on the release of The Pilgrimage as well as North American tour announcements for MARES OF THRACE over the coming weeks.

Sonic Unyon Metal To Reissue Debut AUGURY Album This March

Canadian-based Sonic Unyon Metal are proud to announce that they'll officially reissue Concealed, the classic first album from progressive death metal outfit AUGURY, this March. Originally released in 2004 via Galy Records, this updated version features a fully remastered recording of the album, also expanded to include two bonus tracks from the band's 2006 demo. This definitive edition will also be packaged in a new digipak format, designed by Sven De Calluwe of Aborted.

 [Augury 2004 lineup]

Formed in Montreal, Quebec at the end of 2001, AUGURY immediately made an impact in the Canadian death metal scene with their technical/classically-inspired progressive death metal attack. The unit entered the studio with Yannick St-Amand (Martyr, Unexpect) in 2004 to record their Concealed debut. The record was mixed by Jean-Francois Dagenais (Kataklysm, Misery Index) and then set loose upon the anxious public. After the release of Concealed, AUGURY signed with Nuclear Blast Records, who in 2009 unveiled the band's critically acclaimed 2009 albumFragmentary Evidence, further cementing the band's name into the upper ranks of the progressive death scene.
Sonic Unyon Metal will re-unleash Concealed to North American audiences on March 8th, 2011. Check out the updated artwork and more at this location.

New RAGE Album To See North American Release Via Sonic Unyon Metal

The new RAGE album, Strings To A Web, was released in Europe on February 5th via Nuclear Blast Records, immediately entering the German pop charts at number 27, and has been receiving rave reviews from all major European press. The brilliant album will now see official North American release and distribution via Canada's Sonic Unyon Metal on June 22nd, 2010.

The North American version of the album will be released in a special two-disc set that includes a high quality bonus DVD bearing 15 live RAGE clips and more. The main part is the "Best Of" show RAGE played at the Wacken Open Air festival 2009, including guest performances by Hansi Kürsch (Blind Guardian), Schmier (Destruction) and Jen Majura (Black Thunder Ladies). The DVD also includes four more live clips taken from Masters Of Rock 2009 Festival and a 2009 concert in Sofia, Hungary. View the full track listing for the combo and more below.

Since 1985, German metal trio RAGE have brought their crafted style of classic heavy metal with class. Their new album Strings To A Web is a varied release, showcasing the different faces of the band; pure heavy metal thunder, classical and progressive landscapes, and powerful thrash anthems. Recorded at Twilight Hall Studio (Blind Guardian, Saxon) and produced by Victor Smolski and their long term friend Charlie Bauerfeind (Hammerfall, Helloween and more), Strings To A Web is like a journey through the history of the band, who celebrated their 25th anniversary this year. Over the past quarter century, RAGE went through many changes, but always kept to their roots and developed their incomparable style, and there is no doubt that their current lineup is the strongest yet. Peavy Wagner's voice is the main trademark, along with the guitar wizard Victor Smolski and power drummer André Hilgers, who round out the magical trio.
