ULCERATE: Vermis North America MMXIV Excursion Announced

Stateside May Tour Includes Dates With Inter Arma, Maryland Deathfest Performance

In support of their most demoralizing recorded works to date with their fourth LP, Vermis, New Zealand death metal innovators, ULCERATE, will bring their audio terror to North American fans this Spring, on their second tour of the continent.

Sponsored by Metal Injection, ULCERATE will inundate the American and Canadian peoples for nineteen days and nights on the Vermis North America MMXIV tour, which will include the band's first shows on the West Coast. Beginning the first day of May, the horde will bring their incredibly destructive, dynamic style of delivering the most extreme, cutting edge death metal imaginable to a clockwise arc of cities, the mayhem coming to a close with a performance at the massive, annual Maryland Death Fest on May 19th. Support for ULCERATE will be provided by Relapse lablemates, Inter Arma, on the majority of the dates, joining the tour in Philadelphia on the 9th and pushing through until May 21st, the final date of the tour before MDF.

Vermis North America MMXIV will be ULCERATE's first return to the continent since their initial stateside mini-tour in 2012, culminated with their memorably punishing set at Maryland Deathfest that year. Stated the band on the upcoming live incursion, "After months of planning we are now in full lockdown mode with rehearsals for what is going to be one of the most intense tours we've done to date. We can't wait to bring the Vermis material to life and finally attack both East and West coasts of the continent - particularly with Inter Arma joining us for the second half of the run."

Since their 2009 debut on Neurotic and two LPs via Willowtip previous to releasing Vermis,ULCERATE has strived to continually hone and contort their death metal attack, their sound ever-evolving into harsh new realms of turmoil, melding mechanical and organic elements into their haunting, blast-strewn explosiveness. A forward-thinking death metal style citing Hate Eternal, Gorguts and Immolation collides head-on into more dissonant and blackened infiltrations of Deathspell Omega or Portal forming a monolithic antiharmonic atrocity, ULCERATE's destructive methodology is in a class of its own, and the critically-lauded Vermis, showcases these traits at their most ominous and harrowing yet. With nearly fifty-five minutes of suffocating devastation and some of the most destructive and creative drumming in the extreme metal underworld, and arguably one of 2013's overall most extreme releases, Vermis is not to be missed.

ULCERATE: In-Studio Video Documenting Vermis Recording Sessions Posted

Following the recent unveiling of the details on ULCERATE’s impending and highly anticipated fourth LP Vermis, today Relapse has leaked an in-studio video with the Auckland, New Zealand tribe as they meticulously crafted the mammoth album at hometown MCA Studios earlier this year. The combined demolishing power and technical prowess of the music the trio creates is truly jaw-dropping on every one of the band’s releases to date, and watching them hone and construct these anguished hymns piece-by-piece is enthralling for any extreme music musician or ULCERATE devotee.

View the extensive in-studio video of the making of Vermis now.

Album-to-album, ULCERATE continually expands their attack by melding mechanical elements with organic flow patterns, and integrating more sonically demoralizing elements into their haunting explosiveness. The band’s forward-thinking death metal style is born where Hate Eternal, Gorguts and Immolation collides into the blackened anguish of Deathspell Omega or Portal -- traits which become more apparent than ever on their Relapse debut Vermis. The nine passages harnessed on their fourth full-length play out into a nearly hour-long document of their most tumultuous craftsmanship yet. Vermis will see release September 17th in North America, preceded by September 13th in Germany and Benelux, and September 16th in the UK and rest of the world. Preorders have been made available here.

Additional propaganda, hymns and more on Vermis will be announced in the coming weeks in addition to new ULCERATE tour actions for 2013.

ULCERATE: Innovative New Zealand Death Trio Preps Fourth LP For Deployment

Boasting an original, inventively dread-inspiring style of audio torture, Auckland, New Zealand-based death metal trio ULCERATE has completed the final stages of preparation for the pending release of their fourth horrific masterpiece, and first for Relapse Records.

Since their 2009 debut on Neurotic and two subsequent LPs through Willowtip, ULCERATE has strived to continually hone and contort their death metal attack, their sound ever-evolving into harsh new realms of turmoil, melding mechanical and organic elements into their haunting, blast-strewn explosiveness. A forward-thinking death metal style citing Hate Eternal, Gorguts and Immolation collides head-on into more dissonant and blackened infiltrations of Deathspell Omega or Portal forming a monolithic antiharmonic atrocity.

After signing ULCERATE last year, new label Relapse unveils the info on the band’s newest works as the album nears release late this Summer. After a year of writing and planning, the creation of the record came to fruition in March of this year when the band entered hometown MCA Studios. The nine passages harnessed during these sessions culminates into a nearly fifty-five minute document of the outfit’s most tumultuous craftsmanship yet, entitled Vermis. Relapse will unleash the album on CD, double LP and digitally, now confirmed for release September 17th in North America, preceded by September 13th in Germany and Benelux, and September 16th in the UK and rest of the world. Preorders have been made available here.

ULCERATE Enters Studio To Record Relapse Debut

After signing with Relapse Records in late 2011, this week Auckland, New Zealand-based death metal horde ULCERATE will enter hometown MCA Studios to harness their anticipated fourth LP.

ULCERATE’s founding drummer Jamie Saint Merat states, “After almost exactly twelve months of exhaustive work we are now in the final stages of preparation for our fourth album. This week we enter the studio to track what has become a violent, monolithic piece of work.”

The yet-to-be-named fourth opus from ULCERATE follows two albums on Willowtip Records -- 2009’s Everything Is Fire and 2011’s critically-lauded The Destroyers Of All -- not to mention their 2007 Neurotic Records debut Of Fracture And Failure. The band down wave after tumultuous wave of dissonant riffing and a nonstop barrage of leveling, technical percussion with organic brute force and otherworldly discordance, topped with a purely disdainful, guttural lyrical attack. Their brutally-charged, sinister death metal bears an innovative, blackened edge resulting in a catastrophic concoction not dissimilar to Mitochondrion, Mithras, Portal, Glorior Belli and Deathspell Omega.

ULCERATE has toured with extreme metal heavyweights across all of New Zealand, Australia and heavily across Europe alongside the likes of Nile, Krisiun, Decapitated, Behemoth, Cannibal Corpse, Deicide, Grave, Corpus Mortale, Svart Crown and others, and even assaulted North American audiences for the first time with several shows around and including 2012’s annual installment of the massive Maryland Deathfest.

Expect updates through all of 2013 as ULCERATE completes their latest work and allows it to erupt forth onto humanity later this year, in addition to taking their sonic destruction to the stage in support. New Zealanders can catch the band in Auckland and Wellington with labelmates Rotten Sound this April.
