France's AOSOTH formed as a side-project of MkM, of the essential French black metal horde Antaeus. While Antaeus sets boundaries for their grinding black metal, AOSOTH delivers more dissonant 90s death metal elements to their brew of extreme sound, with the melding of influences from both MkM and his cohort BST (ex-Aborted, Balrog, etc.) AOSOTH's previous works - which include a split with Antaeus, a split with (now labelmates) Temple of Baal, a full-length on Total Holocaust and an LP on The Ajna Offensive - have been quoted by the media to be in the vein of Anteus, Craft, Grave and more.
The new album Ashes of Angels - their first for Polish label Agonia Records - was recorded by the band members themselves at BST Studio (Vorkreist, Antaeus, Hell Militia, The One) and showcases AOSOTH breeding more tortured and hellish metal than ever, bringing forth a more sick and sinister approach. Expect nothing but Satanic audio violence.
Having now secured a live lineup, AOSOTH have shared the stage with acts such as Ondskapt, Nehemah, Farsot, Enthroned, Hell Militia, Blacklodge, Heretic, Celestial Bloodshed, Sargeist and more over the past two years. The band intend on growing stronger in this aspect in the coming years, with more live attacks in the planning stages now.
