LOCUSTA Issue Roadside Update

Ohio progressive black/death metallers LOCUSTA, who regrettably had to skip the entire first week of their US tour with Tennessee black/doom titans Argentinum Astrum due to vehicular trouble, today issued the following update from the road:

Said guitarist Dru Silver: "Unfortunately, due to van trouble we had to scrap the first week of our tour; we had the (dis)pleasure of breaking down in a dry county in Kentucky for three days, and with the added financial stress of automotive repairs it was next to impossible to go on as planned. Fortunately for us they were mostly regional dates, however we apologize to anyone that was planning on attending any of those shows on either band's behalf. We shall return...

"In other news, we've been immensely enjoying the natural wonders that the western frontier has to offer-- particularly Massacre Rocks/Craters of the moon in Idaho -- and have been getting along great with the folks in Argentinum... practically peas in a pod. The reception has been good so far, and we can't wait for what else this side of the country has to offer! Many thanks to those that have aided us in our journey so far."

LOCUSTA released their debut full-length via Kentucky-based Pragmatic Records upon an unsuspecting underground earlier this year. The 10-track, self-titled offering was recorded/engineered by Brian Simakis at Capital City Studios, mastered by Dan Randall at Mammoth Sound Mastering and features strikingly stark cover art by local artist Stefan Hoza. Formed in the fall of 2006, the band take their name from a female chemist from Ancient Rome regarded as the first documented serial killer. It was rumored that in A.D. 54, she may have been hired by Agrippina The Younger to kill the Emperor Claudius, possibly with a poisoned dish of mushrooms.

"These dudes have taken the time to master their respective instruments which, coupled with their love for Suffocation and thrash metal, has resulted in a good showing of 'blackened death metal.'" -- Stereokiller/PA Hardcore

"If I was forced to make a comparison, I’d say the LOCUSTA are Necrophagist but more interesting, combined with early, early Lamb Of God, when they still had wicked sharp teeth." -- Metal Army

"Earthy, dark and somber are fitting but imperfect descriptors. Combining technical death, progressive and black metal without losing footing is not an easy thing to accomplish … Where some bands might get carried away with a diddly solo or let the drummer blister away at the expense of melody, LOCUSTA have a firm understanding that these parts should serve the aesthetic of the song. What that means is that no matter how drastic a change in pace from one passage of a song to the next, there's a recognizable pattern weaving through all." - Metal Review
