American music channel VH1 has identified 100 of the best hard rock singers of all time – from the birth of rock in the 60’s (Yardbirds, Rolling Stones, Hendrix), a period of stadium concerts (Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, Aerosmith) to representatives of an angry new wave (Sex Pistols, TheClash) and contemporary (Nirvana, Metallica, Soundgarden).
Note that the term “hard rock” is used here not as the name of an individual flow in the musical ocean, whose followers rightly be called the same Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, Aerosmith, Hendrix, but under which no covered The Clash, Nirvana or Metallica . This term, in this case consumed to refer to artists whose music sounds “heavy”, noisy, aggressive – not kitsch sweet or tender as the art-rock.
