Engraved Disillusion: Desolate

They have now completed the recording of their nine track debut album, due for release Spring 2011. Keep checking in with us for more updates!

Engraved Disillusion were formed in early 2008, a Taunton based five piece band with the collective goal of producing epic melodic death metal to challenge the current stagnant scene. They play 100% original material and consist of Chris “Box” Pugsley on vocals, Toby Stewart and Marc Matthews on Guitars, Chris Threlfall on drums and Luke Douglas on bass guitar. Some have raised comparisons to the Gothenburg metal sound, however whilst they embrace the Gothenburg style they consider to be original with they lyrical content, structural ambiguity and multitude of influences. They find influence from such bands as; At The Gates, Black Sabbath, The Black Dahlia Murder, Carcass, Dissection, Hatebreed, Unearth, Dream Theatre, Insomnium, Candlemass In Flames, Killswitch Engage and Dark Tranquillity to name but a few.

In just a short time they have played over 50 shows throughout the South West at venues such as;

The Cavern - Exeter
The Hub - Exeter
The Purple Turtle - London
Hobbits - Weston-Super-Mare
The Perfect 5th - Taunton
The Croft - Bristol
The Purple Turtle - Camden, London

amongst many others to great acclaim. Sharing the stage with bands such as

Romeo Must Die
Cinders Fall
Burning Skies
Red Mist
The Eyes of a Traitor
The Rotted
Stillborn
Out Of Enemies
Seregon
Cryostorm
In The Absense Of Light

to name just a few.

They are currently promoting their three track Ep titled Desolate which was recorded in March of 2008 at Studio 6 Swindon. Once again in such a short time we have already parted with over 1000 units (and counting) of their EP. With excellent reviews both constructive and concise such as;

"With an EP of this standard I have no worries in saying this is a band that will climb the ranks and be known as one of the top metal bands in the whole of Britain! Only time will tell if I am correct."

"These guys definitely show promise in this EP, showing that they can create a great, melancholy sound without being too repetitive. The guitar work is my favorite part of course. I look forward to hearing more from this band."

"I'll bet that by the time these guys are ready with a full length's worth of songs, they'll be comfortably releasing it on a label Europe-wide. Any takers?"
