The band was founded in febreo of 2010 (with Kronet on guitars, Violent drums, Count Morkveld bass and Malice in the voice) under the name of Krigenvind, running a notorious black metal with influences of bands like Immortal. In mid-April, they recorded the demo "KRIGENVIND" featuring three tracks. In the middle of this year, Morkveld left the band and replaces Grohman. Due to a slight change in style and a small problem of authorship, had to change the name to SVARTAND. The new vocalist brought new influences with his singing and decide to turn the sound and start to sound more extreme. Now they direct their sound to Blackened Death metal. The theme of the lyrics was also changed, from addressing such issues as human emotions and epic wars; to Satanism, limited situations and some other life experience. The band appears twice in "Decibelios" local shows well accepted by the public. Between September and October, Svartand recorded in MC RECORDS his first EP, entitled Vengeful Devastation, which contains 5 tracks. Along with the EP, comes the video clip of track 5 (Hatework) filmed and produced by the same members.
Currently the band is in the process of composition and preparation for their important date on February 18 with Pablo Magallanes (Demonical - Morito Ergo Sum).

La banda se funda en febreo del 2010 (con Kronet en guitarras, Violent en batería, Count Malice en bajo y Morkveld en la voz) bajo el nombre de Krigenvind, ejecutando un Black metal con notorias influencias de bandas como Immortal. A mediados de Abril, graban el demo "KRIGENVIND" que cuenta con 3 tracks. En la mitad del corriente año, Morkveld abandona la banda y lo remplaza Gröhm. Debido a un pequeño cambio en el estilo y un pequeño problema de autoría, se tuvo que cambiar el nombre a SVARTAND. El nuevo vocalista trajo nuevas influencias con su manera de cantar y deciden dar un giro al sonido y comenzar a sonar mas extremos. Ahora dirigen su sonido al Blackened Death metal. La temática de las letras también fue modificada, pasando de tratar temas como emociones humanas y guerras épicas; a satanismo, situaciones limite y alguna que otra experiencia de vida. La banda se presenta dos veces en "Decibelios", shows locales bien aceptados por el público. Entre Setiembre y Octubre, Svartand graba en MC RECORDS su primer EP, titulado Vengeful Devastation, Que contiene 5 tracks. Junto con el EP, sale el video clip del track 5 (Hatework) filmado y producido por los mismos miembros.
Actualmente la banda se encuentra en proceso de composición y preparándose para su importante fecha el 18 de Febrero junto a Pablo Magallanes (Demonical - Morito Ergo Sum)
