CAR BOMB To Level Stages With V.O.D. This Weekend

New York tech metal manipulators, CAR BOMB, will kick off the New Year with two shows this weekend alongside hometown hardcore heroes Vision Of Disorder! On Saturday, January 26th Long Island’s favorite sonic contortionists will level the stage of Dingbatz in Clifton, New Jersey and again on Sunday at The Chance in Poughkeepsie, New York.

Comments the band on performing with V.O.D.: “On Long Island, these guys were always the band to beat in the hardcore scene. Breakdowns that came out of nowhere damn smack in the middle of a song? No one was fucking doing that, and no one was heavier. We're definitely honored to throw down with our local compadres.”

CAR BOMB:
1/26/2013 Dingbatz – Clifton, NJ w/ V.O.D.
1/27/2013 The Chance – Poughkeepsie, NY w/ V.O.D. [TICKETS]

CAR BOMB released their epic w^w^^w^w long player last Fall. Recorded, produced, mixed, and mastered by CAR BOMB and produced by guitarist Greg Kubacki, w^w^^w^w marks the band’s first full-length in five years. A monumental showcase of their intriguing complexity, MetalSucks called w^w^^w^w one of the “…noisiest, most brutal, melodic, chaotic, atmospheriest,” of 2012 while Pitchfork agreed, crowning it one of the “most unrelenting records” of the year, further elaborating that “CAR BOMB have cited IDM (Intelligent Dance Music) as an influence, and Kubacki’s leads are the most readily apparent aspect of this. His Digitech Whammy abuse is best manifested on the lead breaks on ‘Sentinel’ which sound like lasers becoming self-aware with bloodlust, and the nearly trance-like soloing on ‘This Will Do the Job.’ Vinnie Vincent Invasion boasted on their self-titled album that no synthesizers were used, but CAR BOMB go for the more impressive feat of making electronic-esque sounds with standard metal instrumentation. Excess might seem to be the order of the day to the lazy ear, but there’s an economy to the music… There’s a lot of noise, but it’s always just the right amount. At 50 minutes, you know they’ve got more to say, but they’ll leave that for another record.” Boasts American Aftermath : “This self-produced record is raw and visceral and will absolutely rip you apart limb from limb… CAR BOMB have perfected their craft and song writing abilities to create an album that quite literally ‘kicks ass.’”

CAR BOMB Announce New Live Dates Band Issues Post-Hurricane/Holiday Message

New York tech metal contortionists, CAR BOMB, who recently issued their first full-length in five years with the mammoth w^w^^w^w, will take their instrumental acrobatics to the stages of Brooklyn this holiday weekend. The festivities commence with an unofficial CD release party at the Knitting Factory on November 24. On the following night they’ll ravage the stage of Saint Vitus alongside New York death metal titans Suffocation. Additionally, the band will appear at The Studio at Webster Hall in Manhattan for a pre-New Years blowout with Resolution15.

This weekend’s shows mark the first performances for the Long Island natives since Hurricane Sandy destroyed their studio located at The South Sound music complex new the Gowanus Canal in Brooklyn.

Said the band in a collective statement: “We are deeply saddened not only by our own losses but the losses incurred by all of our friends at The South Sound. The total destruction that occurred at The South Sound was both devastating and incomprehensible. Gear that had taken a lifetime to acquire was destroyed in a matter of hours. As tragic as the events of Hurricane Sandy were, we were relieved to learn that no one affiliated with The South Sound was injured and that the losses were simply financial -- along with some blood, sweat, and tears on the part of the guys running the place. We know how much time and effort those guys put into making The South Sound a great place for musicians to do their thing and we truly feel for their loss. This Thanksgiving, CAR BOMB is thankful that we all survived the events of Hurricane Sandy, as did our family and our friends. Everything else is replaceable.”

CAR BOMB’s epic w^w^^w^w was self-released earlier this and is currently streaming in all its intriguing complexity at their official BandCamp pagew^w^^w^w was recorded, produced, mixed, and mastered by the band at their own studios in Long Island and Brooklyn, produced by guitarist Greg Kubackiand features guest vocalist Joseph Duplantier of Gojira on “Third Revelation.” Said Pitchfork of the offering: “You'd be forgiven for thinking that New York experimental metal quartet CAR BOMB were a Meshuggah tribute band. The interplay between guitarist Greg Kubacki and drummer Elliot Hoffman does feature a lot of that tight mechanical syncopation that Meshuggah have made a career out of. That conjoined gunfire staccato is unmistakable. There are imitators, and there are groups who understand the essence, the soul of a group and build upon that distinctive sound,” adding that w^w^^w^w, “ranks among the year's most unrelenting records... CAR BOMB have cited IDM (Intelligent Dance Music) as an influence, and Kubacki's leads are the most readily apparent aspect of this. Excess might seem to be the order of the day to the lazy ear, but there's an economy to the music, and not just in the 50-second ‘Auto-Named.’ There's a lot of noise, but it's always just the right amount. At 50 minutes, you know they've got more to say, but they'll leave that for another record.”

CAR BOMB: New Album Streaming In Its Entirety Band To Headline Pitchfork’s Show No Mercy Unofficial CMJ Event

w^w^^w^w, the recently issued work of sonic enormity from New York tech metal experimentalists, CAR BOMB, is currently streaming in its entirety at their official BandCamp page. Their first full-length output in five years,w^w^^w^w was recorded, produced, mixed, and mastered by the band at their own studios in Long Island and Brooklyn, produced by guitarist Greg Kubackiand features guest vocalist Joseph Duplantier of Gojira on “Third Revelation.”

Witness the infectious complexity of w^w^^w^w at THIS LOCATION.

w^w^^w^w Track Listing:
1. The Sentinel
2. Auto-Named
3. Finish It
4. Lower The Blade
5. Garrucha
6. Third Revelation
7. Recursive Patterns
8. Spirit of Poison
9. Magic Bullet
10. Crud
11. This Will Do the Job
12. The Seconds

Said American Aftermath in a 9/10 review of the record: “This self produced record is raw and visceral and will absolutely rip you apart limb from limb… Within the five year gap between Centralia and w^w^^w^wCAR BOMB have perfected their craft and song writing abilities to create an album that quite literally ‘kicks ass.’” Adds Sputnik Music in a 4/5 rating: “This album is supposed to confuse and irritate your senses, be both brutal and yet coherent enough to call it mathcore, all for you to listen to it. Naming this album w^w^^w^w is proof enough of the sensibilities of Car Bomb and the type or record you’ll be getting yourself into. The experience however, is an immensely enjoyable one. Mathcore soaked in sludge is a potent combination that may not be groundbreaking but when done right the way like Car Bomb has here, is highly addictive. Wicked Channel agrees: “This self-produced record is raw, full of hard hitting power chords and a rhythm section that can do that stop and start rhythms without warning. This is not your run of the mill progressive metal or thrash band, this is something truly unique that really has this power that will grab you within seconds, and not let you go till the record ends. This is a violent fuck you burst of middle finger that we desperately need in metal these days… If Refused claimed they were the shape of punk to come, this is the shape of hardcore to come.”

In conjunction with the album’s release, CAR BOMB will headline Pitchfork’s Show No Mercy unofficial CMJ showcase on October 20, 2012 at 285 Kent in Brooklyn. Support will be provided by BatillusPyrrhonPrimitive Weaponsand Theologian as well as some unannounced "special guests." Tickets are on sale NOW.

Often referred to as “double-u click double-u” for short, w^w^^w^w is clearly CAR BOMB’s most ambitious and diverse offering to date. Each track displays the typical chaotic timing that is signature CAR BOMB, yet expresses a clear thematic differentiation to make it its own. Comments guitarist Greg Kubacki, “most people will hear just random noise when listening to this record, but to us it’s all really simple ideas. We’re fascinated by the book Godel Escher Bachby Douglas Hofstadter and we try to make music that is recursive. We try to establish certain themes and then shape and reuse them in different ways to create songs that have common threads within them. Patterns repeat, but not in ways you’d expect. This process creates songs that fans can grasp in one way but maybe can’t grasp in another, and all the time they are swallowing you into a hypnotic and infinite vortex. The influence of M.C. Escher’s (the “Escher” in Godel, Escher, Bach) is also evident in the w^w^^w^w cover artwork which is simply a nauseating spiral of small repeated patterns."

CAR BOMB Live:

CD and vinyl release dates to be announced in the coming weeks. Stay tuned.

CAR BOMB: NYC Metal Experimentalists Release w^w^^w^w

New York tech metal exhibitionists, CAR BOMB, are pleased to unveil their first full-length offering in five years! Entitled w^w^^w^w, the self-released, 12-track long player was recorded, produced, mixed, and mastered by the band between 2011 and 2012 at  their own studios in Long Island and Brooklyn, produced by guitarist Greg Kubackiand features guest vocalist Joseph Duplantier of Gojira on the track “Third Revelation.” (Check it out at THIS LOCATION).

Comments the band in a collective statement: “We’re beyond excited to once and for all complete and release this thing.  Every aspect of this recording -- writing, recording, mixing, mastering, artwork, you name it -- was done 100% by the band.  It took as much time as most people spend going to college, but we think it was worth the wait.”

Often referred to as “double-u click double-u” for short, w^w^^w^w is clearly the band’s most ambitious and diverse offering  to date. Songs range from the 50-seconds of syncopated chaos that is “Auto-Named,” and the catchy, mid-tempo “Lower The Blade,” to the speed metal infused “The Seconds.” Each track displays the typical chaotic timing that is signature CAR BOMB, yet expresses a clear thematic differentiation to make it its own. Vocalist Michael Dafferner elaborates: “It’s really easy when writing technical music to sound like you’re just stringing random riffs together. Though we wanted to make a lot of sharp turns in each song, we really strove for each song to have its own distinct sound and mood.” Adds guitarist Greg Kubacki, “most people will hear just random noise when listening to this record, but to us it’s all really simple ideas. We’re fascinated by the book Godel Escher Bach by Douglas Hofstadter and we try to make music that is recursive. We try to establish certain themes and then shape and reuse them in different ways to create songs that have common threads within them. Patterns repeat, but not in ways you’d expect.” This process creates songs that fans can grasp in one way but maybe can’t grasp in another, and all the time they are swallowing you into a hypnotic and infinite vortex.  The influence of M.C. Escher’s (the “Escher” in Godel, Escher, Bach) is also evident in the w^w^^w^w cover artwork which is simply a nauseating spiral of small repeated patterns.

CAR BOMB released their debut full-length, Centralia, via Relapse Records in 2007. Called “esoteric and experimental,” by About.com, the band followed the release with a gaggle of live performances as well as a split 7” with Burnt By the Sun before going on an unofficial hiatus. The digital release of w^w^^w^w (which reached the #2 spot on BandCamp’s Top Sellers list this week) follows the CAR BOMB’s short but epic tour with Gojira this Summer. CD and vinyl release dates to be announced in the coming weeks.

CAR BOMB: New York Metal Exhibitionists Join Gojira On Tour. New Single Featuring Gojira Vocalist Joseph Duplantier Available

New York experimental metal exhibitionists CAR BOMB have officially come out of hiding in a big way having just joined Gojira on a short run of dates that commenced on Thursday in New York City. The festivities continue tonight in Worcester at The Palladium and will trample its way back through Manhattan to Detroit, Chicago, Milwaukee and Cleveland.

Comments the band: “We are beyond excited to be doing this string of dates with the mighty Gojira.  It is an honor.”

8/13/2012 The Palladium – Worcester, MA
8/14/2012 The Studio @ Webster Hall - New York City, NY

8/16/2012 The Bottom Lounge – Chicago, IL
8/19/2012 Rave Bar – Milwaukee, WI
8/20/2012 Peabody’s – Cleveland, OH

Whether chopping a riff into pieces, reversing it, cutting it short, or messing with the tempo, CAR BOMB’sunique style of progressive metal is the product of dissecting ideas and beating them to death. The result is equivalent to a jet engine propelling gravel into your skull. CAR BOMB combine the polyrhythmic and mathematical madness of Meshuggah and Dillinger Escape Plan with the rage and energetic fury of Coalesce and Converge. Though their songs are musically challenging, CAR BOMB refuse to dilute their ruthless execution. Their intent is to assault the listener in any and every way possible - compositionally, sonically, and lyrically.

CAR BOMB released their first full-length, Centralia, via Relapse Records in 2007. Called “esoteric and experimental,” by About.com, the band followed the release with a gaggle of live performances as well as a split 7” with Burnt By the Sun before going on an unofficial hiatus.

CAR BOMB recently unleashed their new single "Third Revelation," which features guest vocalist Joseph Duplantier of Gojira.  The track will be on their new album w^w^^w^w.  Check it out at below.
