Since their formation, the triple-guitar led GENERAL LEE have set out to create a tense musical climate; mixing heavy metallic riffing and icy, oppressive atmospheres with cathartic hardcore screaming. Raiders Of The Evil Eye finds the band teetering on the edge of a molecular meltdown; further blurring the lines of the metal and hardcore. A seven-song thirty-three-minute explosion of extremes, the output is chaotic yet controlled; acute yet blissful. Metal Hammer champions the offering in an 8/10 rating saying Raiders Of The Evil Eye “bulldozes from the get-go with all the subtlety of a frying pan whacked to the face.” In an identical rating, Exclaim crowns it, “a passionate, possessive record that goes for the throat from its opening seconds,” adding that, “Raiders Of The Evil Eye isn't just about manhandling the listener, however; it doesn't just want to take, it wants you to give in.” Blistering agrees: “GENERAL LEE is a post-hardcore ensemble, playing in the vein of the always-cult Botch, and even more cult Neurosis on their third album Raiders Of The Evil Eye. It’s an amalgamation that doesn’t happen enough, so when the Frenchman go from a spate of vitriolic, pit-stormers like ‘Medusa Howls With Wolves’ and ‘Alone With Everybody’ to the atmosphere gaze of ‘Overwhelming Truth,’ one must ask themselves why more bands don’t give this a go.”

Since their formation, the triple-guitar led GENERAL LEE have set out to create a tense musical climate, mixing heavy metallic riffing and icy, oppressive atmospheres with cathartic hardcore screaming. Notes Sludgelord in an early review of the record: “This one is dark, yet uplifting, for those of you familiar with this genre and its effect on the soul. Musically, they blend various elements known to this genre, drawing influence from forefathers like Isis and Neurosis, and more modern acts like Cult of Luna and Betrayal at Bespin. They tend to have an edge with harsher elements, such as in the vocals, and sections of pure, hardcore aggression. GENERAL LEE are also known for their quiet instrumental sections, which owes to the over all atmosphere they deliver…”

GENERAL LEE Unite With Play The Assassin Records; "The Witching Hour" Stream Available

French post-hardcore unit, GENERAL LEE, have inked a worldwide deal with New Jersey-based Play The Assassin Records. The band's new full-length, Raiders Of The Evil Eye, will be released on November 15,  2012.

Since their formation, the triple-guitar led GENERAL LEE have set out to create a tense musical climate; mixing heavy metallic riffing and icy, oppressive atmospheres with cathartic hardcore screaming. The band’s 2008 Hannibal Ad Portas debut is a culmination of early influences, namely Botch, Neurosis, The Chariot and assorted Belgian beers. A chaotic symphony of blackened intensity and bombastic euphoria, the record received critical praise from press and fans alike. GENERAL LEE would go on to share the road with the likes of Baroness, Helmet, This Will Destroy You, and Cult of Luna.

Roads followed in 2010 and showcased a more controlled and mature band. GENERAL LEE's sound started to take a more individualistic shape that melded the genres of metal, hardcore and ethereal-like beauty. Roads was mastered by Tom Baker (Deftones, Ministry, Nine Inch Nails, Monster Magnet) at Precision Studios.

November of 2012 will see the birth of the band’s third full-length, Raiders Of The Evil Eye. With their first two releases primarily finding audiences in France, the band has signed with Play The Assassin Records and will be exposed to their largest audience yet. Raiders Of The Evil Eye finds the band teetering on the edge of a molecular meltdown; further blurring the lines of the posts-metal/hardcore. A seven-song thirty-three-minute explosion of extremes, Raiders Of The Evil Eye is chaotic yet controlled; extreme yet blissful. Raiders Of The Evil Eye will be presented in a limited edition, six-panel digipak.
