For the first time, KELLY will be joined on these shows by cohorts Noah Landis and Greg Dale as SCOTT KELLY AND THE ROAD HOME, bringing his dark Americana to fruition on stage in a whole new way, as they did on the new album.

The action begins this Saturday in San Francisco and play through Oakland, Fullerton and Los Angeles, with opening support from YOB frontman Mike Scheidt.

Stream the title track to the new album “The Forgiven Ghost In Me” via Decibel Magazine’s blog RIGHT HERE.

Additionally, Jason Roeder (Neurosis, Sleep) and Josh Graham (A Storm Of Light, Neurosis) make guest appearances on the album. These additional instrumental and vocal contributions add incredible new dimensions to KELLY’s foreboding tales. The eight tracks were recorded by Landis, the album running deep with over forty minutes of foreboding Americana showcasing the ever-evolving artist brandishing some of his most expressive hymns of pain, reflection and redemption to date

SCOTT KELLY AND THE ROAD HOME Album To See North American Release Via Neurot

Founding Neurosis guitarist/vocalist SCOTT KELLY is preparing to release his new solo album in North America via Neurot Records on August 14th.

The past two years have seen SCOTT KELLY touring across three continents, besides recording for and releasing a split 7" with Wino and the most recent Songs of Townes Van Zandt tribute album with Wino and fellow Neurosis mate Steve Von Till. The highly anticipated new full-length sees KELLY once again digging deep into very personal territories as on his previous solo works including his lauded Spirit Bound Flesh and The Wake, yet forges a brand new path as fellow musicians Noah Landis (Neurosis) and Greg Dale join this new venture as SCOTT KELLY AND THE ROAD HOME. Jason Roeder (Neurosis, Sleep) and Josh Graham (A Storm Of Light) make guest appearances on the album's seventh track "The Field That Surrounds Me" and the cover art for the album was completed by Thomas Hooper.

The eight tracks found on the new opus, entitled The Forgiven Ghost In Me, was recorded by Landis, and runs deep with over forty minutes of foreboding Americana over eight new anthems, showcasing the ever-evolving artist brandishing some of his most expressive hymns of pain, reflection and redemption to date. Stated SCOTT KELLY on the album: "This record continues my passion for acoustic experimentation, this time with a more fleshed out sound and a more diverse use of musicians and instrumentation. But in the end, as I have stated before, this is all about the songs in their rawest form. The stories that they reveal and the emotions that run rampant through my heart."

North American preorders for The Forgiven Ghost In Me can be placed now VIA NEUROT. Stay tuned for new SCOTT KELLY tour dates and more info on the forthcoming album in the weeks ahead.

STEVE VON TILL Streams Song From Townes Van Zandt Tribute

Songs Of Townes Van Zandt Out Now In North America

This week, the anticipated Songs Of Townes Van Zandt -- the three-way homage compilation album with contributions from SCOTT "WINO" WEINRICH, SCOTT KELLY and STEVE VON TILL -- is officially available via Neurot Recordings in North America. Bearing nine songs from iconic American singer/songwriter legend TOWNES VAN ZANDT, with WEINRICH, KELLY and VON TILL each contributing three of their most beloved, personal tales from one of their musical heroes, the album showcases these classic, harrowing pieces of Americana in a more modern, and extremely personal fashion.

In celebration of the album's release, today BrooklynVegan is streaming the VAN ZANDT anthem "Black Crow Blues," as recorded by STEVE VON TILL (Neurosis, Tribes of Neurot, Harvestman, etc.) AT THIS LOCATION.

Additionally, the Obelisk is streaming WEINRICH's cover of TVZ's "Nothing," RIGHT HERE, and SCOTT KELLY's rendition of "St. John The Gambler" is downloadable HERE.

After having performed material by Van Zandt solo and through various collaborations on stage over recent years, on solo releases and more, the aptly entitled Songs of Townes Van Zandt brings several songs each from STEVE VON TILL, SCOTT KELLY and WINO together in praise of his deep musical influence on them all. Through a personal contact of the artists, newly-formed label My Proud Mountain was founded specially in order to release this tribute, with Neurot Recordings handling the North American release of the album.

Songs Of Townes Van Zandt is available for purchase DIRECT FROM NEUROT.

STEVE VON TILL, SCOTT KELLY & WINO Confirm Townes Van Zandt Tribute Album To See US Release Via Neurot In June

This June Neurot Recordings will issue a special three-way split CD in tribute to late American folk music hero Townes Van Zandt, bearing contributions from SCOTT KELLY(Neurosis, Shrinebuilder, Tribes of Neurot, solo artist, etc.), STEVE VON TILL (Neurosis, Tribes of Neurot, Harvestman, solo artist, etc.) and SCOTT "WINO" WEINRICH (Saint Vitus, The Obsessed, The Hidden Hand, Shrinebuilder, solo artist, etc.).

After having performed material by Van Zandt solo and through various collaborations on stage over recent years, on solo releases and on random live collaborations, the aptly entitled Songs of Townes Van Zandt brings several songs each from  KELLYVON TILL and WEINRICH together in praise of his deep musical influence on them all. Through a personal contact of the artists, newly-formed label My Proud Mountain was founded specially in order to release this tribute, with Neurot Recordings handling the North American release of the album on June 12th.

Download Scott Kelly's rendition of "St. John The Gambler" for free RIGHT HERE.

Songs of Townes Van Zandt Track Listing:
1. If I Needed You [Steve Von Till]
2. St. John The Gambler [Scott Kelly]
3. Black Crow Blues [Steve Von Till]
4. Lungs [Scott Kelly]
5. Rake [Wino]
6. The Snake Song [Steve Von Till]
7. Nothing [Wino]
8. Tecumseh Valley [Scott Kelly]
9. A Song For [Wino]

Townes Van Zandt never reached significant fame during his lifetime.  Although highly respected by his peers and other songwriters, the mood and atmosphere of his music, coupled with his sometimes dark and sarcastic nature, was not suitable for the commercial country-industry of Nashville. Van Zandt’s songs did, however, reach popularity in his day, through artists such as Willie Nelson, Merle Haggard, and Emmylou Harris. Within his circle of outsider singer-songwriters, he was adored, though ultimately it would be depression and alcoholism that would overshadow his life. Townes’ friend, singer Steve Earle, has been quoted as saying, “Townes Van Zandt is the best songwriter in the whole world and I’ll stand on Bob Dylan’s coffee table in my cowboy boots and say that.” After Townes’ death in 1997, the fact that artists as diverse as Robert Plant, Mudhoney, Norah Jones, Lyle Lovett, and Bob Dylan himself have kept his songs alive and vital, is a testament to the influence and impact of his music.

So now do STEVE VON TILL, SCOTT KELLY and WINO stand and sing his tribute, each focusing on the essence of Van Zandt’s music and lyrics in his own personal way.  The result is a great homage, whose intensity lies in fragility and elementary human truths.  Townes Van Zandt’s broken-hearted love songs and gloom-ridden tales are most deserving of this tribute and praise.

Stated SCOTT KELLY “Townes Van Zandt's music has had a profound effect on me as a man and as a musician. I discovered his songs 13 years ago at the same time as I had already began following a new path for myself as musician, seeking to express myself through a more direct, stripped down acoustic approach. Townes Van Zandts music is not only brutally honest, he has an ability to paint a picture with his words that is so far beyond the reach and depth of anyone else I have heard to this day. I am honored to be a part of this record and get the opportunity to bring his music to people who are fans of what I have been doing, and I am humbled to be in the presence of my two brothers Steve Von Till and Wino."

Steve Von Till added: “To be able to honor the music of Townes Van Zandt with this project is a true gift. His songs have had a profound influence on me as a songwriter and have been a constant sonic companion since first hearing them.  Sharing this tribute with Wino and Scott Kelly, both of whom I admire as human beings and fellow travelers on this journey of songcraft makes it even that much more important to me. I hope that it may bring the soul purifying, down to earth truths of Townes to others who may not have discovered him yet, and that those who already recognize his contribution to the world will appreciate this small offering.“

And affirmed Wino: “Circumstance and adventure lead me down the road of playing and writing solely  on the acoustic guitar. Born And Raised on CSN, Neil Young amongst others I still ignored the Americana folk scene. Until Kenny Wagner turned me on to Townes Van Zant. I was still absorbing listening to Scott and Steves various renditions of his songs when Mr. Connie Ochs gave me Abnormal. It was this that crystallized my endearment to this music; this man, this story, this passion and emotion that has enriched our lives. So I am proud to be a part of this tribute.”

Scott Kelly U.S. Tour Begins Today New Zealand & Australian Tour Confirmed

The previously-announced Western U.S. acoustic tour from Scott Kelly and friends begins tomorrow in Seattle, Washington. On this tour, the Neurosis/Shrinebuilder frontman will mesmerize open-minded locals and followers of his infamous, dark solo material to audiences across the western half of the country. Kelly hand-picked the opening acts for the tour, including outlaw country rocker Bob Wayne and country/folk artist Jay Munly, the goal of the tour to promote the underground folk/country rock movement for these hard-working artists and their vision of what American music can stand for, across the grain of our society’s habitually mainstream musical frame of mind.

Following the tour, Scott Kelly is also now confirmed to play a one-off show in Chicago the first week of the year, where he’ll be performing alongside ambidextrous solo artist Bruce Lamont; the show free via RSVP here.

Also just announced, Scott Kelly will tour Australia and New Zealand for the first time as a solo artist this February. John Baizley (Baroness) will be performing his first ever solo dates as support for Kelly on these dates as well. View the full press release for the Australia/New Zealand tour here.

WINO: Solo Acoustic Album Details And U.S. Tour With Scott Kelly Announced

We don't need to rave about the well-known legacy of the man who is Scott Weinrich, better known as Wino. With dozens of albums released throughout his time spent in The Obsessed, Saint Vitus, Shine, Spirit Caravan, The Hidden Hand, Shrinebuilder, Dave Grohl's Probot project and much more since the late '70s, his mammoth and varied resume spans nearly three full decades, essentially set him up as a purveyor and forerunner of the entire genre we now call doom rock. A true legend; this is Wino. But, with the release of the humble but legendary musician's new solo album, Adrift, a side of the man that most haven't heard is being uncovered for the first time.

Answering the call from his friends and supporters to record an acoustic solo album following the sudden and tragic passing of friend and bandmate Jon Blank, who appeared on Wino's first "solo release" Punctuated Equilibrium album in 2009, he set to work on his most personal and powerful recording to date. Adrift is a revealing alternative view of this underground legend’s personality and history. Stripped down to the bare minimum — just his voice and his guitar — the songs on Adriftfollow classic American songwriting ideals offering a compelling mixture of emotion and storytelling.

Wino is a man on his own in a boat without sails. He’s fighting against tides and storms, enjoying the moments of bright sunshine; bound to the will of something external — the wind, destiny and the drift. Easily his most heartfelt and personal material to be recorded to date, the twelve tracks onAdrift help elevate this already iconic musician to a new level of storytelling, setting Wino up to fall right in line with greats like Johnny Cash, Woodie Guthrie, Neil Young, Bob Dylan and other classic American songwriters.

Adrift Track Listing:
01. Adrift
02. I Don't Care
03. Hold On Love
04. Mala Suerte
05. Old And Alone
06. Iron Horse/Born To Lose
07. Suzanes Song
08. DBear
09. Whatever
10. Shot In The Head
11. O.B.E.
12. Green Speed

Adrift is set for official release on respected German label Exile On Mainstream Records March 8th, 2011 in North America, the label now distributed domestically by E1 Entertainment. A limited edition vinyl version of the album featuring extended liner notes and more is to be released in the U.S. on January 18th by Volcom Entertainment.

Wino will hit the road stateside this February on a short acoustic tour, rocking alongside longtime friend, and also Shrinebuilder bandmate, Scott Kelly (Neurosis). The tour will be in support of the upcoming split 7" between Wino and Kelly, to be released early in the year by Volcom, as well as the Adrift album. Sponsored by BrooklynVegan, the tour will venture through California, Texas, Illinois, Massachusetts, Maryland and New York, showcasing both legendary artists each in solo, acoustic mode.
