Flotsam & Jetsam, James Rivera and Xander Demos to appear at the Pre-Fest Showcase of WOM Fest VI Open Air

Warriors of Metal, Inc. non-profit organization is pleased to announce that the Saturday headliner of this year's festival, Flotsam & Jetsam will hold a signing session and meet 'n greet for the fans at The Shrunken Head Rock Club at 251 West 5th Avenue in Columbus, Ohio prior to the start of the Pre-Fest Showcase at 6:00 pm on Thursday, June 27th.  Admission to the club for the night is only $10.

Later in the night, the Friday headliner James Rivera and his guitarist, Xander Demos will make an appearance at the Shrunken Head Rock Club to share the stage with the Pre-Fest Showcase headliner, Vindicator and their fan sponsor Tony Canillas of the Boston Heavy Metal band Iron Will which replaced a last minute cancellation at the 2012 Pre-Fest Showcase.

Advanced pricing on tickets for the Warriors of Metal Fest VI Open Air can be purchased at the Pre-Fest Showcase until 11:30 pm on Thursday night, June 27th.  After that "At The Gate" higher prices will go into effect.  Therefore fans are urged to get their tickets before that time.  Entry to The Shrunken Head is only $10 and at the venue doors only.

Update: PLEASE NOTE A RECENT CHANGE IN THE PRE-Fest Showcase Schedule which was NOT reflected in the press release:

VINDICATOR will hit the stage from 11:30 pm to 12:40 am and
MACHINAGE will close the show from 12:55 to 01:45 am 
This change is to accommodate James Rivera and Xander Demos so they don't have to be up till the early hours in the morning to do their number with Vindicator.

Running Order & Fest Compilation announced for Ohio's Warriors Of Metal Fest VI Open Air

Warriors of Metal, Inc. non-profit organization is proud to announce the release of its 2013 Compilation CD with 6 representative bands from USA, 3 from Australia, 2 from Sweden, and several other countries such as Jordan, Croatia, Greece, Italy, Poland and Denmark with artwork done by the Serbian fantasy artist Dusan Markovic  (http://markovicdusan.com).  These promotional compilations will be distributed through several US Metal labels and mailorders and they will be freely available to all the fans in attendance this year in Ohio as well as fans who will be supporting other Live Metal shows such as Georgia's Pathfinder Metalfest VI in July and Maryland's Rock Harvest II Festival in November.

The album was funded by the participating bands from 4 different continents as well as Warriors of Metal, Inc., was mixed by the Fest organizer / producer and promoter Datis Alaee.  The layout and arrangement of the accompanying 8 page full color booklet was done by the Fest's Logistics organizer Lea Alaee.  The running time of the album is about 79.5 minutes.  The album artwork by Dusan Markovic can be seen above.

Power Theory announces "Alan D`Angelo" as bassist for Warriors of Metal IV - Open Air!

Power Theory would like to announce that Drew Foster will be stepping back in his role as bassist due to constraints and commitments of his job. Drew will always be a member of the Power Theory family and available to fill in for shows if the need arised, and continue to work on a side project with guitarist BB Ballinger.

James Rivera to launch solo career as a headliner of Warriors of Metal Fest VI Open Air

The Warriors of Metal, Inc. non-profit organization in humbled and honored to announce that the legendary James Rivera has chosen to launch his solo career as this year's Friday headliner of the Warriors Of Metal Fest VI Open Air since the organizers of the festival received the following message 2 days ago: 

Boston-based power thrashers Meliah Rage have unfortunately had to cancel their appearance at this year’s Warriors of Metal Fest in Pataskala, Ohio. Guitarist Anthony Nichols underwent back surgery in late April fully expecting to be ready for the show, but complications led to a second surgery which has left Nichols unable to be ready for the event. Even after the second surgery, Nichols was hopeful that the band could keep the Ohio date on their schedule, but based on the advice of physicians, more time is required for Nichols’ back to heal properly. In his words "This thing really kicked my ass…” The whole band is certainly disappointed about having to miss the festival but encourages fans to attend the event despite the absence of Meliah Rage this year. The city of Boston will still be well represented with long time power-metallers Steel Assassin and Ravage, two favorites of Meliah Rage.

The Warriors of Metal organization seized the opportunity to bring James Rivera back to the Festival after last year's powerful performance by Helstar as the Saturday night headliner of the shows 5th year anniversary edition. The proposal amounted to Any Metalhead's fantasy performance by such a hard working and prolific artist and the decision was thus made to collaborate again to make Metal History.  James Rivera states:  

"Friday, June 28th will mark a proud historical moment in my music career.  I am honored and privileged to announce that on this date, I have been confirmed as the headliner for the sixth edition of Warriors Of Metal Festival, in Pataskala, Ohio, replacing MELIAH RAGE after the band's unfortunate cancellation.  What makes this occasion special is that it will be the debut performance to launch my new musical endeavor, 'JAMES RIVERA'.  This long overdue project will now become my other main act aside from HELSTAR, and will not only feature live appearances and touring, but also a studio album forthcoming via SPV/Steamhammer.  More details on the artistsinvolved and music planned for recording to be released soon.

Last year I had the pleasure of experiencing the excellence of WOM for the first time when HELSTAR was invited as a headliner.  I am truly obliged the organizers have chosen to have me back with my new incarnation!  For this momentous show, joining me onstage will be guitarist extraordinaire from another fricking planet, Xander Demos of the XANDER DEMOS band and my Pennsylvania Chapter of SABBATH JUDAS SABBATH.  My rhythm section will be composed of powerhouse musicians Dennis Hayes on bass and Jeff Curenton on drums, both infamous for being apart of the 'Year of the Witch' lineup of SEVEN WITCHES, and Ripper Owens' early career days in the bands WINTER'S BANE and BRITISH STEEL.  Fans attending WOM can expect a good handful of classic SEVEN WITCHES songs, in addition to other tunes from my catalog, plus some surprises!   

So for now this is just a mini update on what I've got in store for the near future.  HELSTAR fans, do not worry... the new album will be coming at you full steam ahead in 2014!  European fans, I will see you this summer with SABBATH JUDAS SABBATH!  And to those who will be present on June 28th for the premier show of JAMES RIVERA at the swiftly rising U.S. metal festival Warriors Of Metal Open Air, get ready to raise your fists in the air!  Get those neck muscles in shape for some serious headbanging and a night enjoying the only kind of metal I have ever known to deliver, and always will.  Intense, true and powerful metal!!!!"

Additionally, the Chicago Power Metal band CRUSADER will join the Pre-Fest Showcase of the Warriors Of Metal Fest VI Open Air on Thursday evening, June 27th to round out the lineup.  Band drummer Colin Holmes states: "Crusader is excited to be a part of the Warriors of Metal Fest VI Open Air at the end of June.  It's going to be both amazing and humbling to share the same stage with a number of acts both national and international that we'd be happy just to see live.  We can't wait to fuel up the battle tank and rampage through Columbus Ohio- we're going to have to leave some of the ammo at home, though, to make room for our new album "Onward into Battle" that we'll be bringing along."

Puerto Rico's ALAS NEGRAS to occupy ATTACKER's slot at Warriors of Metal Fest VI Open Air

The Warriors of Metal, Inc. non-profit organization is devastated to report that ATTACKER has had to cancel their participation at our festival this year.  Puerto Rico's ALAS NEGRAS will occupy the Attacker slot but as the direct support to the Friday headliner for what will be their very first ever performance in the continental United States in support of their upcoming 4th album release later this year!

Band manager and drummer Michael Sabatini states: "Hi everyone, it is with regret that I have to announce that Attacker will not be performing at this years Warriors Of Metal Festival. Due to a work accident, I will not be physically able for some time to handle my drumming duties and give everyone the show they deserve. Hopefully in the future I will be able to return with the band and give all in attendance the best possible show that we can. COVEN 13 to replace AMADIS at Warriors of Metal Fest VI Open Air

Warriors of Metal, Inc. is sad to announce that one of the surprise hit bands of last year's Festival that was immediately invited back after their performance, AMADIS from Burlington, Vermont will not be able to attend this year's event due to unforeseen band member obligations that have recently come up.  However,  we are excited to announce that the cult Heavy / Doom Metal band COVEN 13 which was reunited in 2011 with all original members will replace Amadis on the festival's Saturday lineup.

Band drummer and manager Brian McGuckin states: "Coven 13 is very honored to be performing at this years Warriors Of Metal Fest VI Open Air. We feel that it is very important for the Metal community, that there are major festivals such as WOM Fest in keeping the spirit of "True Metal" alive. We are honestly, very excited to share the stage with so many great Metal bands from all across North and Central America. We are proud to be a part of it. The Warriors of Metal, Inc. non-profit organization reveals the band lineup for the Pre-fest Showcase and each day of this year's festival.

The Pre-Fest Showcase on Thursday, June 27th will be held at The Shrunken Head Rock Club, 251 West 5th Ave in Columbus, Ohio and is headlined by Cleveland Thrash Metal band, Vindicator.  Doors open at 6:00 pm and music starts at 6:30 pm.  Admission is $10 at the door for everyone. Mithridium replaces Lady Beast on the Pre-Fest Showcase of Warriors Of Metal Fest VI Open Air

March 22nd, 2013.  Cincinnati, Ohio.  Due to a newly surfaced scheduling conflict with their upcoming Midwest tour, the Pittsburgh Heavy Metal band, Lady Beast have infomed the organizers of the Warriors of Metal Fest Open Air that they regretfully need to cancel their appearance at the Pre-Fest Showcase proceedings on June 27th at The Shrunken Head Rock Club in Columbus, Ohio.  The local Melodic Thrash Metal band MITHRIDIUM will be the replacement to complete the lineup.

Festival organizer Datis Alaee states: "Whereas we and our fans are disappointed to not see Lady Beast in action at our festival, we all wish them well in all their future Metal endeavors and we hope their Midwest tour is a success.  To replace Lady Beast, however, the choice was very clear.  We became aware of ONLY 1 band in the Columbus area that wholeheartedly threw their support behind the Warriors of Metal Fest Open Air and bought advanced tickets for themselves to attend the festival even though they were not playing the show.  This kind of loyalty to our cause and cooperative spirit needs to be not only applauded but also rewarded, so the decision to invite Mithridium as a local support band to complete our Pre-Fest Showcase lineup was actually very obvious."  Mithridium's drummer and band representative Tony Kaliszewski has also issued the following statement: "We would like to thank the Warriors of Metal Fest Open Air organizers for bestowing upon us the opportunity to share Mithridium's music with the die-hard fans and bands that will be travelling a great distance for the Fest. It is not every day one is graced with a Heavy Metal Open Air Festival in their back yard.  We open our arms and look forward to meeting and welcoming everyone to our hometown of Columbus, Ohio.  Stay Metal!  -Tony Kaliszewski

Cleveland, Ohio's GLOBAL WARNING confirmed for Warriors of Metal Fest VI Open Air

The Warriors of Metal non-profit organization is pleased to announce that GLOBAL WARNING, the Cleveland, Ohio ensemble band consisting of Matt Schindelar on drums (DESTRUCTOR), Brook Hodges on bass (DESTRUCTOR & BREAKER), Julia S. Roberts on guitars (DRIVEN STEEL) and Sandy Kruger on vocals (SACRED FEW) will be doing a special performance on the Friday morning of the Warriors Of Metal Fest VI Open Air which will be held on June 28th & 29th at the Frontier Ranch in Pataskala, Ohio, just 20 minutes East of the capital city of Columbus.

Band founder and guitarist, Julia S. Roberts states: "I am very excited that not only is my band GLOBAL WARNING being included in the Warriors Of Metal Fest VI Open Air lineup on Friday, but I get to pay tribute to Ronnie James Dio and jam on guitar with the very talented vocalist Veronica Freeman of BENEDICTUM, bassist Lauren "Thrash Kitty Cain" Kowal of SONIC PULSE, and my old DRIVEN STEEL bandmate Beth "Thumperchick" Mordaunt back on drums as part of  the festival's very first all female Metal band: DRAGON LADIES!!!  Wait until we rock everybody's socks off on both mornings of the Fest :) \m/"

Puerto Rico Heavy Metal Studies to conclude filming documentary at Warriors of Metal Fest VI Open Air

Cincinnati, Ohio.  The Warriors of Metal, Inc. non-profit organization is very honored to have at least 3 band performances from our 6th annual Metal festival included in a documentary film that has been in production at the Puerto Rico University's Heavy Metal Studies since 2012.

Nelson Varas-Díaz, PhD (Associate Professor of Psychology at the University of Puerto Rico) states: "During the past 12 months a team of researchers from the University of Puerto Rico has been working on a documentary film addressing the creation and development of a local metal scene in the Caribbean island of Puerto Rico.  Through in-depth interviews, revision of historical documents, and analysis of archival videos the team aims to reconstruct the major highlights in the development of a musical community that has survived for 30 years against all odds.  The particularities of a metal scene in a small Caribbean island are varied and have the potential to inform the growing interest on metal scenes around the world.  Some of these include: the role of Christian groups in the development of a local organized scene, cultural concern over Americanization of the local youth, the meanings of metal music in a colonial context, and the integration of Afro-Caribbean sounds into metal music.  In order to complete their ongoing documentary film on Puerto Rico’s metal scene, the team will accompany three local bands that will play at the Warriors Of Metal Fest VI Open Air to be held on June 28-29 at the Frontier Ranch in Pataskala, Ohio.  Dantesco, Solvo Animus, and Alas Negras represent Puerto Rico’s contribution to Doom, Progressive and Thrash Metal.  There the team will record the bands’ performances, interview attendees and document the overall reaction to this “Puerto Rican Invasion” of the festival.  We are sure that the Warriors Of Metal Fest family will receive us with open arms and help us in this last stretch of our documentary film.  We are looking forward to seeing you there.  You can follow our project HERE".

Veronica Freeman of Benedictum to co-host Warriors Of Metal Fest VI Open Air

February 20, 2013.  Cincinnati, Ohio.  The Warriors of Metal, Inc. nonprofit organization is both honored and excited to announce that a veteran artist of Warriors Of Metal Fest IV Open Air, Veronica Freeman of Benedictum has decided to join ranks with the organizers and the grass roots volunteers and sponsors who have been making this festival happen each year in a different capacity and to lead by example for everyone who wants to support the festival.  She will be present at the Pre-Fest Showcase on Thursday, June 27th at The Shrunken Head Rock Club in Columbus, Ohio headlined by Vindicator and both days of the festival on Friday, June 28th headlined by Meliah Rage & Saturday, June 29th headlined by Flotsam & Jetsam at the Frontier Ranch in Pataskala, Ohio.

In an official statement released to Warriors of Metal, Inc., Veronica Freeman announces " Metal fans everywhere... all I have to say is that its time we more than just click “like” a band on a screen and time we really start showing as much support as we can for the music that we love. That being said I really want to encourage everyone to get out and support Metal everywhere and in particular at the Warriors Of Metal Fest VI Open Air!  I felt compelled to come back in some way and take part because I really want to see something like this grow here in the USA. Oblivion Myth replaces Mistress on the Pre-Fest Showcase lineup of Warriors Of Metal Fest VI Open Air

Cincinnati, Ohio.  The Warriors of Metal, Inc. non-profit organization would like to announce that the Nashville, Tennessee Progressive Power Metal band Oblivion Myth (WOM Fest III Open Air) will return to Ohio after 3 years to replace Philadelphia female fronted Heavy Metal band Mistress who had to cancel its participation due to the departure of their vocalist.

Oblivion Myth guitarist and founder, Keith Smith states: “Oblivion Myth is excited to return to WOM Fest Open Air as a part of the Pre-Fest Showcase this year.  We played WOM Fest III Open Air back in 2010 and had a blast rocking out with so many great bands and fans in Ohio. It’s an honor to be asked to come back in a different capacity.”

Band vocalist Ray LeGrand observes: "The band has been through a series of personnel changes since appearing at WOM Fest 3 years ago.  As far as the vocal duties were concerned, with the departure of Sterling Sammy Whitmill, my getting up to speed with the materials and being an all or nothing kind of guy, I did not feel I really owned the material at the time, having had only a few weeks in the band, so I opted for the ‘nothing’ angle and the temporary frontman Raz Wickham went to perform in Ohio in my stead," muses LeGrand.  “I was genuinely bummed that I missed out on the opportunity to perform at WOM Fest Open Air.  But I suppose good things do come to those who wait because the exciting part of what we have going is that our current lineup is firing on all cylinders with fans responding positively at every show. So we can’t wait to invade the Warriors Of Metal Pre-Fest Showcase and unleash our fury on the northern metal kingdom!”

Curran Murphy to perform a special set with Brazilian Thrashers of Machinage at the Pre-Fest Showcase of WOM Fest VI Open Air

Cincinnati, Ohio. The Warriors of Metal, Inc. non-profit organization is very excited to welcome back our one and only South American artist of 2011 & 2012 for one more special performance.  The Brazilian Thrash Metal band, Machinage has been added to the roster of the Pre-Fest Showcase of the Warriors Of Metal Fest VI Open Air to perform a special set with special guest, Curran Murphy on Thursday night, June 27th at The Shrunken Head Rock Club in Columbus, Ohio.

Eden's Fall Confirmed for Warriors Of Metal Fest VI Open Air

Cincinnati, Ohio.  Warriors of Metal, Inc. non-profit organization is pleased to announce that Chicago's Melodic Thrash  Metal band Eden's Fall has been confirmed to play at the Warriors of Metal Fest VI Open Air to take place at the Frontier Ranch in Pataskala, Ohio on June 28th and 29th, 2013.

Band manager and drummer, Ray Smith states: "Eden’s Fall is very excited to be a part of next year’s Warriors of Metal Fest.  Going there this year as a fan was an amazing experience.  I met so many cool people and saw tons of great bands.  You could just feel it, everyone was there to have a good time.  Even if you are not familiar with the bands I highly recommend checking out this Awesome event!"

Eden's Fall released their debut full length album "Harmony of Lies" in 2006 and has headlined all the Midwest Metal Anthem festivals that Ray Smith has been organizing in Chicago for the past 6 years!

Ohio`s Warriors of Metal Fest VI Open Air confirms TWISTED TOWER DIRE for 2013

Warriors of Metal, inc. non-profit is very privilaged to announce that the North Carolina / Virginia Traditional Metal professionals of Twisted Tower Dire have been confirmed to play at the Warriors of Metal Fest VI Open Air to take place on June 28th & 29th, 2013 at the Frontier Ranch in Pataskala, Ohio.

Band manager and guitarist, Scott Waldrop states: "Thanks to Datis and The Warriors of Metal Fest for having us back in 2013! This summer we were scheduled to play on Friday night but right before our set time a nasty storm rolled through the venue tearing up trees, ripping off part of the stage roof and knocking down power lines. Unfortunately TTD had to be on the road early the next morning and we couldn't stay around to play on Saturday. We're super sorry for any fans/friends that were disappointed so hopefully some of you will come back next summer and we can try it again!!! CHEERZ!!!"

The well respected Italian Metal label, Cruz Del Sur Music which was one of the sponsors of WOM Fest V Open Air released Twisted Tower Dire's highly praised 5th full length album, "Make it Dark" in 2011.
