Iceland's ANGIST Signs To Abyss Records

Icelandic extreme death metal act ANGIST has signed with Abyss Records. The band's self-released five-track EP, Circle of Suffering, was made available for the first time in North America by Abyss Records this summer and can be purchased at www.officialabyssrecords.com.  Circle of Suffering was recorded, mixed & mastered by Wann at Emissary Studio. Abyss Records will release the band's full-length debut in the near future.

From Reykjavík, Iceland hails the death metal quartet Angist. Formed in 2009 by vocalist/guitarist Edda Óskarsdóttir and guitarist Gyða Þorvaldsdóttir with Halli, Edda's brother later joining as the band's bassist player. Angist has seen a revolving door of dummers before settling on current skin basher Tumi Gíslason.

Angist released their two song demo in summer 2010 and, within a year they had been given the opportunity to play several high profile shows such as Iceland Airwaves, opening act for Heaven Shall Burn and L'esprit du Clan. Angist placed second in the Wacken Metal Battle (Icelandic log). Many interviews and reviews in magazines, newspapers, webzines and radio followed and the 2011 ended with the release of Angist's EP, Circle of Suffering. The band toured around France as an opening act for L'esprit du Clan in support of the EP.

2012 so far has been no less of a success with Angist performing at Eistnaflug Festival to a highly receptive crowd as well as supporting Beneath (Unique Leader) at their CD release show. The high point so far, signing a record deal with US-based label Abyss Records for the release of Angist's debut album.

Abyss Records To Release DESULTOR's Masters of Hate On Vinyl

On August 28th, Abyss Records will issue the vinyl edition of Masters of Hate from Sweden's DESULTOR. Originally released in March of this year on CD, DESULTOR's debut full-length challenged all preconceived notions of what Swedish death metal should be. The vinyl release comes in two editions: 

The "Die-Hard" Version - Limited to 100 hand-numbered copies on 180 gram transparent red vinyl. Includes high gloss jacket w/ two-sided color insert, exclusive embroidered patch, logo vinyl sticker and button.

Stockholm-based progressive Swedeth extremists DESULTOR released Masters of Hate on March 20th via cult US death metal label Abyss Records. Formed in 2007, the duo of guitarist/vocalist Markus Joha and drummer Michael Ibrahim rapidly evolved over the course of two demos into the boundary-pushing and deadly outfit they are today. Dubbed "Murder Metal," DESULTOR is unique as they are extreme. This is Swedish metal supreme. Masters of Hate was recorded and mastered by Sverker Widgren at Sweden's Necromorbus Studios.

It actually all started when Allen West and Marco Vreven on the Lowbrow 'Buried in Europe' Tour decided to start a new band, and a couple of months later they were working on some songs and recorded a demo tape in the Red Room Studio's in Ybor City. Rock Rollain (Kult of Thorn) joined the forces and he placed some mighty fine bass lines on the songs. Days before the first gig they asked Sven Poets from Shattered Skull (BE) to join the forces. He learned everything in three days and was accepted as a band member after a successful first show! In 2011 SouthWicked completed the recordings for the debut album Death's Crown and did their first European tour with Master, playing among other shows on Neurotic Deathfest, Europe's biggest indoor death metal festival. The band signed a deal with Abyss Records in 2011 and will release their debut album in the summer of 2012.

THE HORDE Joins Abyss Records

Illinois-based Vikings thrashers THE HORDE have officially signed with Abyss Records for the follow-up for the release to 2011's Thy Blackened Reign. Guitarist Tim Matthews comments,  

"The HORDE are thrilled to have signed with ABYSS Records.  This is a match made in Valhalla as they will suit up in their armor and go to war with us as we ride into the flames of battle!
We are currently working on our third album, which has the working title Destroyer... Slayer of Men.  Some song titles are "Pray Hater", "10,000 Strong" and "Firevurm".  Will be entering Mercenary Digital Studios in Zion, IL at some point this winter to record with Scott Creekmore."    

THE HORDE is slated to appear at Spring Bash IV in April of 2013 in Milwaukee, WI alongside DECEASED, MORTA SKULD and other acts TBA. More US festival appearances for 2013 are in the works.  CORROSIVE CARCASS was founded by Markus Janis and Fredrik Lindorf sometime back in 2004 and soon after Peter Koistinaho and Fredrik's brother Mikael Lindorf joined the band. They started to rehearse in Fredrik's room in his parent's house for the sole purpose of playing heavy music. As they became better musicians and delved into the more extreme side of metal, their vision of the band became more death-oriented. In 2007, Jonathan Sjöblom joined the band as a vocalist. Soon after, Fredrik left the band due to creative differences. Markus quickly put his guitar down to fill the empty drum throne and guitarist Robin Dahlberg stepped in. Robin did not play in the band for long, before leaving for personal reasons. In the autumn of 2009, Christian Kanto joined the band to replace Robin. With this line-up CORROSIVE CARCASS injected new life into the older material and began to write new material that soon would become the band's  first demo Rot.In.Pieces.

CORROSIVE CARCASS recently completed their debut full-length, Composition of Flesh, which is set for a Summer 2012 on Abyss Records.

RADIATION SICKNESS To Unleash Reflections of A Psychotic Past On June 22nd Via Abyss Records

Legendary Indianapolis' Crusty Crossover Thrashers of the Extreme RADIATION SICKNESS,  will be releasing their first studio album in 20 years on Abyss Records on Friday, June 22nd as part of the label's Summer of Sickness Campaign 2012. Entitled Reflections of a Psychotic Past, the new album from RADIATION SICKNESS features seven brand new tracks and will also include a re-mastered copy of the 1990 release The Other Me, A Journey into Insanity.

Swedish death metal act FETUS STENCH is set to release their debut full-length, Stillbirth, on June 15th via Abyss Records. HUMANGLED: Odd Ethics EP Out Now On Abyss Records

Odd Ethics, the newest EP from Italian death metal act HUMANGLED, is now available via Abyss Records. The follow up to 2010's Fractal, Odd Ethics sees the band taking bold steps into new musical territory, while attacking the social aberration and hypocrisy born from our lack of ethics and common sense. HUMANGLED recently released a video for the track "Needles of the Blind."  The clip that can be seen below, was directed by Andrea Falaschi and points out the blindness of medical science, describing the unpredictable damages of combined collateral effects obtained with therapeutic obstinacy.  

Odd Ethics was tracked at Italy's Mel-1 Studiosand mixed/mastered at Unisound Studio in Örebro, Sweden by Dan Swanö (EDGE OF SANITY, HAIL OF BULLETS, NOVEMBERS DOOM). Cover art for Odd Ethics was designed by artist Marko Somero.
