BYFROST ANNOUNCES NEW DRUMMER

ORKAN drummer Rune Nesse has joined the ranks of Norwegian Blackened Metallers BYFROST as a permanent replacement for the recently departed “Alkolust”.  Originally intending not to find a full-time replacement,  but rather to use session drummers both for live performances and in the studio, the band quickly changed its mind after rehearsing with Nesse.  Commented front man HeavyHarms: “The Bergen music community is very tightly knit, and we had known of Rune’s work for a long time.  When our old drummer left we immediately started rehearsing with Rune and it was obvious that he not only understood BYFROST’s music, but that he also shared our vision for the band.  So we did the logical thing and asked him to join as a full time member”.

A band known for its trademark menacing heavy riffs and headbang-inducing live performances, BYFROST’s sophomore album “Of Death”, which, like their debut album “Black Earth” was produced by ENSLAVED’s Herbrand Larsen, was released on Germany’s AFM Records in 2011, and led to several festival appearances and a European Tour.  Work has already begun on the third album, and, according to the vocalist, “Rune’s arrival has been like a shot of adrenaline.  BYFROST is sounding tighter and heavier than ever before.  The new album is already sounding fantastic, and we can assure our fans that it’s going to more than meet their expectations”. More information about BYFROST can be found on the band’s Facebook page.

BYFROST PARTS WAYS WITH DRUMMER

In a statement issued by the band today, Norwegian Blackened Metallers BYFROST have announced that they have parted ways with “Alkolust”, their drummer since 2008.  Frontman Heavyharms commented:  “We have had a great time playing with Alkolust over the years and we wish him the best with his other projects.  And to all our fans out there, this is not the end, but very much a new beginning.  Horns to the Sky!”
Formed in Bergen, the heartland of Norwegian extreme metal, in 2007 by Heavy Harms and Ripmeister, BYFROST released their debut album “Black Earth” on Painkiller records in early 2010, and, on the strength of this release, were quickly picked up by Germany’s AFM records. The band’s second full-length album, “Of Death”, which was once again produced by ENSLAVED’s Herbrand Larsen, who also guested on the album, was released in June 2011 to much critical acclaim.
BYFROST, whose trademark dark, heavy riffs, with a menacing touch of iciness, make it almost impossible to listen to the band without wanting to bang your head, will use session drummers both for live performances and recording going forward, and do not anticipate any break in activity.  More information about BYFROST can be found on the band’s Facebook page.

Formed in 2007 in Bergen, Norway, by guitarists HeavyHarms and R.I.P Meister, BYFROST originally started life as a four-piece, before settling as a power-house trio composed of HeavyHarms on guitars and vocals, R.I.P Meister on five-string bass and HELLISH OUTCAST’s Alkolust on drums. Their music has been described variously as Blackened Thrash and Black ‘n Roll, but whatever term you want to apply to it, the end result is always the same – a neck-breaking head banging experience
The band’s first album “Black Earth”, which included a guest appearance by ENSLAVED’s Arve Isdal, was released on Painkiller Records in April 2010 to much critical acclaim, and demonstrated the band’s ability to skillfully merge cold, dark riffs with a touch of the melodic. BYFROST’s reputation as skilled musicians coupled with a dynamic stage presence has been consolidated by a series of live dates both at home and abroad, which included appearances at the Hole in the Sky and Karmoygeddon Festivals, the launch of Terrorizer Magazine’s Norwegian Grindhouse venture, and, along with ENSLAVED, at a special concert to celebrate the 20th Anniversary of the Garage, Bergen’s foremost venue.
In early 2011 BYFROST inked a deal with Germany's AFM Records, who are set to release the band’s sophomore album before the summer. The new album, to be titled of "Of Death'", will once again be recorded at the Conclave and Earshot Studios in the band’s home town of Bergen, and will be produced by ENSLAVED’s Herbrand Larsen and co-produced by ENSLAVED's Ice Dale.

BYFROST DEBUTS TRACKS FROM FORTHCOMING RELEASE. ALBUM DETAILS REVEALED

DEBUT TRACKS FROM "OF DEATH" by BYFROST

Blackened Metallers BYFROST have debuted two tracks from the band’s second full-length album “Of Death”.   The 8 track album, which is due for release on AFM Records in June in both CD and LP formats, was recorded at the Conclave & Earshot Studios in the band’s home town of Bergen, Norway, and was produced by ENSLAVED’s Herbrand Larsen together with BYFROST, and co-produced by ENSLAVED guitarist Ice Dale. Mastering was carried out by Knut Fug Prytz at the Magica Mastering Studio.  Artwork and Design are once again in the hands of Christian Sloan Hall, known for his work with bands like DIMMU BORGIR and SLAYER.  The two tracks “Of Death” and “Buried Alive” can be heard on the band’s MySpace page at myspace.byfrost.

Track listing for “Of Death” as follows:
1. May the Dead Rise

2. Eye for an Eye

3. Buried Alive

4. Of Death

5. Full Force Rage

6. Shadow of Fear

7. Sorgh

8. All Gods are Gone

Formed in 2007 by front man and guitarist HeavyHarms and bassist R.I.P Meister, the band’s first release was the “Byfrostmetal” EP, which appeared in 2008 whilst the band was still a four piece.  The debut full length album “Black Earth” was released in 2010, by which time BYFROST had become a three piece, and had been joined on drums by Mads Liletvedt (HELLISH OUTCAST).  “Black Earth” marked the continuing cooperation between the band and ENSLAVED members Ice Dale, who guested on the album, and Larsen, who, aside from producing both full-lengths, also features on two tracks on the upcoming “Of Death”.

BYFROST are scheduled to appear at this year’s Party San Festival in Germany and the Bloodstock Festival in the UK in August and this will be the first time that fans outside of Norway will be able to see the band perform tracks from the new album.  “Of Death” itself is set for release on the 24th June in Germany, and will hit the streets worldwide on the 27th.  More information about BYFROST can be found at myspace.byfrost
