SOUL REMNANTS: Black and Blood Available for Pre-order

Horror Pain Gore Death Productions has signed Massachusetts black/death beasts Soul Remnants and will release their new album Black And Blood on October 31 on CD and Digital formats. Below is the official description.

Soul Remnants make their Horror Pain Gore Death Productions debut with their punishing sophomore album Black And Blood. Hailing from Massachusetts, Soul Remnant's journey further into the darkness... revealing the shattered sound of destroyed souls. Following the road of corpses left by legends like Death, Suffocation, Carcass and Deicide, Black And Blood is a transformative concoction; thrashing together elements of Scandinavian Black Metal, old school Floridian/brutal Death Metal and unearthly mind searing guitar solos. The end result is an overflowing cauldron of blood, which spews forth pure bone-crushing madness! The release comes housed in a high quality six-panel digipak complete with full lyrics and showcases the stellar Black And Blood artwork. For fans of Cannibal Corpse, Carcass, Death, Decapitated, Deicide, Hypocrisy, Monstrosity, Rivers Of Nihil, Slayer, Suffocation and Terrorizer.

Metal411.com recently gave fans a taste of the album with the debut of album track "No Afterlife." Check it out now below.

Pre-order your copy of the CD for only $10 with free shipping.

Pre-order the Digital Download for only $6.66.

SOUL REMNANTS

Hailing from the outskirts of Boston, Mass., Soul Remnants is a death metal quintet making a name for itself in the underground scene. The group began to form in 2003 with Thomas Preziosi on guitar (Year of Our Lord, Armory) and Mitch Fletcher on vocals.  They aimed to combine the raw intensity of American death metal with Scandinavian black metal. After a number of demos, the debut album Plague of the Universe was self-released on December 11 2009. It was produced by Pete Rutcho at his Damage Studios. Soul Remnants have since played shows with the local up and coming bands Revocation, Abnormality and Sexcrement, as well as notable national acts: Lock Up, Deceased, Master, Goat Whore, and Rotten Sound. Following the release of the debut album, Ryan Murphy joined on bass (Forced Asphyxiation, Deconformity) Chad Fisher on second guitar (Armory) and Colin Conway on drums (Frozen, Cannae, All that Remains, Death Ray Vision). The current lineup is by far the most intense and proficient incarnation of the band on stage. The next album is planned for release in 2013. Entitled, Black and Blood it seeks to outdo the debut on every possible level, while maintaining the heritage of old school death metal.

NECROPSY streams For the Blood and Guts

Legendary Finnish Death Metallers NECROPSY have inked a deal with Xtreem Music for the release of their brand new 4-song mini CD "Psychopath Next Door" and their upcoming 2nd full length album most probably for 2014.

Formed back in 1987, the band released numerous demos and EP's until 1993 when they disbanded to later reform in 2011. Among these early recordings, the band did a split LP with DEMIGOD and they're having all these demos, split and EP's re-issued on a 3-CD/4-LP set through Century Media under the title of "Tomb of the Forgotten" out in June 2013. After releasing their debut full length in 2011, the band started long negotiations with Xtreem Music resulting on a deal that will see their new work widely spread, putting back the band's name on the underground Death Metal map in hopes to get the recognition they always deserved.

"Psychopath Next Door" delivers 4 songs of heavy and catchy classic Death Metal with their usual finnish touch. Release date for this EP is still not decided though it should happen during summer 2013. For now, below, you can actually listen to an advance song.

SORCERY "Legacy of Blood" CD out May 10th

SORCERY has come to an agreement with Xtreem Music for the re-issue on CD of their legendary debut album from 1991 "Bloodchilling Tales" together with their previous 7"EP from 1990 "Rivers of the Dead", both with remastered sound for the first time and a totally revamped artwork and layout. This new re-issue comes under the title of "Legacy of Blood" and has been released last month by swedish labels To The Death & Blood Harvest on 12"LP vinyl format.

This album was out of print on its original CD version for a few years already and since the layout, sound and original cover were of poor quality, the band decided to give it a completely new look. However, original cover art both from the album, EP, photos and lyrices are being included on the new design for everyone's enjoyment.

SORCERY's debut 7"EP caused quite an impact in the swedish scene back in 1990 as well as their debut album a year later, being considered one of the leading Death Metal bands in their country together with acts like ENTOMBED, DISMEMBER, CARNAGE, GROTESQUE... creating their own sounding DM style with a devilish feel resulting on a cult album for any lover of swedish Death Metal.

Release date for CD version of "Legacy of Blood" will be May 10th. You can actually see the album cover and listen to an album track below.

Cardinals Folly`s Strange Conflicts of the Past Reviewed

They began as "The Coven" from 2004 to 2007, the Cardinals Folly come from Finland and present us their latest work aptly titled "Strange Conflicts of the Past", since this is a fine package of all of their early works and arguably their very best material. The tracks 1-3 are from the "Heretic´s Hangover" EP, which was released in early 2008 as the first release under the name of Cardinals Folly. This release was just a few hundred copies and was sold out pretty fast. They left out the last track of this EP, "Uncharted Seas" because it was already on the debut album. They wanted to give some unreleased stuff instead. Tracks 5-8 are from the "Orthodox Faces" EP (2009), which also sold out quickly and received a notable welcoming in the doom circle. Tracks 4-9 and 10 are unreleased tracks from the same era of these two EP´s, also recorded in 2008-2009. Track 4 was featured on The Coven´s 2006 demo-EP "Beltane", but this version of the song is much better, as it´s recorded in 2008 with the Cardinals Folly line-up.

I will not talk track-by-track, my approach will be short, generic and `course libertine.
To this day and to be honest I didn`t knew the band, when I received the promo for the review I wasn´t expecting the surprise and my questions were: What the Fuck is this? Who the fuck are they? Ian Curtis lives? Joy Division is active? Purists may disagree… of course other influences could be attributed to Cardinals Folly like Type O- Negative and Woods of Ypres but I’m going to follow my own line here.
For a Joy Division worshiper like me this is a great compliment and this likeness cannot be pure coincidence, the Cardinals Folly treads the paths traced by The weird tales of Howard, Wheatley and Lovecraft and their melancholic sound and depressive melodies are the real mirror thereof.

M. Karnstein  Bass, Vocals
Sebbath Lindberg  Drums
Juho Kilpelä  Guitars
If you're looking for angst, this is the right place, here you can find a magnificent work as a picture painted in black with splashes of blood, where it dominates one profoundly painful dejection, cessation of interest in the outside world, loss of capacity to love, inhibition of all activity, and a decrease in feelings of self-esteem as to find expression in self-reproach culminating in a delusional expectation of punishment. This picture becomes a little more understandable when we consider that, the same traits are found in mourning.

My libidinous relationship with "Strange Conflicts of the Past" has born with the intro; the cue is given in the following words: "Time is now... Heed the call... To enter Cardinals folly... One must be out of his mind..." and I apologize to the band but the orgasm happens before the end, with "The Model", wow, awesome, this original track from Kraftwerk (another of my bands of choice and that saw me grow ...) and that also inspired the band Joy Division, with the death of Ian Curtis and their transformation into New Order, more than ever, that such inspiration was audible and ... visible. We can say at last but not least "Transmission From the Mad Arab" is the music of choice of the recovery room with a cigarette.

For those who are confident of incertitude and the finitude of the things, for those who pursue the melancholic path of the ephemeral time ... Overall this is a perfect album for worshipers of melancholy and depressive Doom Metal.

A one defunct refuses nothing, when I die Cardinals Folly will play and the burial melody filling the air will be “The Model” again and again and again….

1. Intro
2. The Right Hand of Doom
3. Rasputin (The Mad Monk)
4. Serpent Nights
5. Opening Ceremony
6. Blood Axis Raider
7. Cardinals Folly
8. They Found Atlantis
9. The Model
10. Transmission From the Mad Arab
