South Jersey sludgerockers CLAMFIGHT are sailing south this afternoon, en route to rendezvous with fellow riff-wranglers Beelzefuzz, War Injun, Ichabod and Hollow Leg in Frederick, Maryland for a royal bake-off tonight. Then tomorrow evening they’ll storm through Philadelphia to rock out with Borracho, Been Obscene, Supervoid on their way back home.

Additional new digs have also been scheduled, with CLAMFIGHT shipping out again with a show in York, Pennsylvania next Saturday, April 6th, followed by several other rakings in South Carolina, Virginia, and back in Pennsylvania and Maryland again later in the month. While more voyages are still being plotted for the Spring and Summer seasons, the band set on exploring more westerly waters, CLAMFIGHT will also embark to take part in year's Stoner Hands of Doom Festival in Richmond, Virginia November 7th through 10th.

CLAMFIGHT celebrated the harvest of their second full-length, I Versus The Glacier, late in January of this year. Recorded by Steve Poponi at Gradwell House Recording in Haddon Heights, New Jersey the CD version of the record was released by The Maple Forum, the official label imprint born of admired webzine/music community The Obelisk, and the band is now plotting a vinyl version for release this Summer. The band is also demoing material and performing new stuff live, with plans of pillaging the studio once again late in the year.

For now stream all of I Versus The Glacier via Bandcamp.

"...the sort of album that sucks you in, not letting go for its riff laden duration and commanding repeated listens. This isn’t the sort of album where you could pick out a single track and call it the best, oh no my stoney friends – all nine tracks could’ve been the single. 9/10" - Axis Of Metal

"...gets the heart pumping, the fist flying, and the heads nodding until the neck begins to cramp." - Metal Underground

"The only requirement, for now, is to forget about everything else and just listen; soak in the power of the riff, the sweet, unobtrusive pounding of the drums, and the distorted crispness of the bass. If you are one of those listeners that like heavy music that knows where to find that sweet spot right at the core of sludge, doom, and stoner metal, you've come to the right place. 4/5" - Sea Of Tranquility

"...dirty sludge rock with dollops of distortion from the same whiskey soaked barrel as Kylesa and Scissorfight. 8/10" - Metal Mouth

"...they have a huge spectrum of kick ass old school rock/grunge influences like simple, catchy and harsh guitar riffs and solos but also a metallic sound brought by the thrash riffing, the heaviest side of the band that gives extra boost to their style transforming them into a metal quartet." - HeavyHardMetalMania

Clamfight: "I Versus The Glacier" isn`t only good... it`s fucking amazing

90´s, Basement jams, Nirvana covers, high school guitar recitals, seeking vocals, naming the band and rock, lots of rock… there´s something special about this ingredients that brings me a enormous sense of joy and satisfaction, that makes me want to step back in time to the old, worn, dry and raw sound, to those tiny practice rooms covered with dust, with a musty smell and stains of beer, from the last rehearsal, on the floor, to the heavy local gigs and first fans mosh until  those crazy rusty vans taking the band on a massive tour through the world.

If that´s the felling you are looking for then Riffmongering Westmont, New Jersey-based Clamfight are here to offer a huge amount of sick and indigested rock with many influences that will meet your expectations with their newest and second album “I Versus The Glacier”, almost fifty minutes of blasting, roaring and crude music.

Regardless of being founded in September 2002, the band has begun rising around 1996 when Louis Koble (current bass) and Andy Martin (current drums/vocals) started playing in Andy´s basement. Thereafter musicians and friends have come and gone and the band was named two times: “Frezeerburn” and “Too Faced”. Those who stayed wanted to let go “Too Faced” and move on with a simple project that would keep things fun but always with the grand intensity of the band´s core… so Andy Martin, Louis Koble, Joel Harris (guitar) and Sean McKee (guitar) decided to form Clamfight (the name surged while watching a nameless movie).

When I say Clamfight is rock I’m only talking about the bases, that´s only the tip of the iceberg because they are influenced by bands such as Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, Corrosion of Conformity, Mastodon, Sleep, Down, High on Fire, EyeHateGod, Lamb of God, in other words they have a huge spectrum of kick ass old school rock/grunge influences like simple, catchy and harsh guitar riffs and solos but also a metallic sound brought by the thrash riffing, the heaviest side of the band that gives extra boost to their style transforming them into a metal quartet. Still as if that wasn´t enough they play with different styles and tempos using sludge, that good mixture of doom and noisy rock/grunge, thrash and also a pinch of melodic metal to complement their rooted style.

Clamfight delivers a varied fan of styles well secured and clearly distinct throughout the nine track work “I Versus The Glacier”. Tastes can´t be discussed and in my opinion the album is a killer and I enjoyed every minute of it but I was immediately addicted and more inclined to the repetitive chords and slow sludge in songs such as “River of Ice” and “Mountain” and to those raw phrases of pure hard rock that remind Corrosion of Conformity that you can hear in “Age of Reptiles” and “The Green Gods of Yag”.

It can only be good if you headbang till the last song of a band´s album… it wasn´t only good it was fucking amazing, this work unleashes pure adrenaline, 9 tracks of heavy metal, 9 tracks loaded with raging energy. With this second release Clamfight showed that they continue solid, united and strong and they will be playing music for themselves and for those who are faithful to their music.

Using their words:
"If you don't like what you hear, we really don't care because we're going to keep playing heavy songs about rogue waves and bluefish because we enjoy it."

One melee with the words, ideas and its paradoxes... albuns that are news, the reviews at "HeavyHardMetalmania.net", always with its watermark,  Pedro Ribeiro, with love for beer... sorry, music from an early age, he studied piano and singing from 7 to 14 years,  then, devoted himself to the study of the guitar for 5 years. "The wisdom is found in the extremes, all extreme Metal here!"

CLAMFIGHT Prep New Album For Deployment Mini-Tour With Black Pyramid, Kings Destroy Begins This Week

Riffmongering Westmont, New Jersey-based CLAMFIGHT has completed their second album, and are preparing it for deployment in early 2013, unless there is some truth to this Mayan calendar fiasco that is.

As with their impressive 2010 debut Volume I, the new opus, I Versus The Glacier, was recorded by Steve Poponi at Gradwell House Recording in Haddon Heights, New Jersey. The thundering nine-track ruckus that is I Versus The Glacier magnifies the signature CLAMFIGHT blend of sludge, thrash, and doom that, according to Doommantia webzine, "has more than enough groove to break down walls," yet ventures into even more expansive and torrentially-infectious territory on the nearly fifty-minute album.

I Versus The Glacier will see release on January 22nd, 2013 exclusively through New Jersey-based The Maple Forum, the official label imprint born of admired webzine/music community The Obelisk. In coordination with BrooklynVegan, The Maple Forum is co-sponsoring a weekend warrior tour kicking off in Brooklyn this Friday and plowing through Rochester, New York and Allston, Massachusetts, uniting CLAMFIGHT alongside Kings Destroy (members of Killing Time) and Black Pyramid.

CLAMFIGHT Live Engagements:
11/09/2012 Union Pool - Brooklyn, NY w/ Kings Destroy, Black Pyramid
11/10/2012 Monty's Krowne - Rochester, NY w/ Kings Destroy, Black Pyramid, Babayaga

11/20/2012 Kung Fu Necktie - Philadelphia, PA w/ Thee Nosebleeds, Screaming Rattler

Additional live excursions are being devised for the coming weeks and will be announced as the album’s release date nears.

CLAMFIGHT consists of Andy Martin on drums and vocals, Sean McKee on lead guitar, Joel Harris on rhythm guitar, and Louis Koble on bass. Self described as "music for fat dudes and the buxotic women who love them," this crew of childhood friends has been playing together in various bands since 1997, existing together as CLAMFIGHT since 2002. Having shared the stage with great local acts including Wizard Eye, Pale Divine, Bitchslicer, Hellblock Six, Maegashira, Rukut, A Day of Pigs, Wally, as well as some more well known national acts including Kings Destroy, Solace, Jucifer, and Iron Man over the years, the band have amassed a legion of fans in the tri-state area and within the diehard doom/sludge community. Their debut, Volume I, was self released in August 2010 and has received favorable press from Doommantia and The Obelisk among others, and was named the #7 album of the year from The Obelisk's top 20 list.

CLAMFIGHT Announce Recording Plans; Album To See Release Via The Maple Forum

Philadelphia-area doom quartet CLAMFIGHT have signed with The Maple Forum for the release of their upcoming full-length album, which the band are set to begin recording next month.

A crew of childhood friends from the South Jersey/Philadelphia area who have been jamming together in various bands since 1997, CLAMFIGHT lay down an incredibly solid assault of doom/sludge with enough rock and roll and thrash influence to keep things upbeat, resulting in some of the most bruising grooves in the tri-state area.

After CLAMFIGHT's debut album, Volume I, received endless live coverage and praise throughout all of last year on major heavy rock portal The Obelisk -- even earning the site's #7 spot on the site's 2010 year-end list -- site taskmaster JJ Koczan simply turned around and offered to release the band's next album via The Maple Forum, the official record label of The Obelisk. This April, CLAMFIGHT will be returning to Gradwell House Studios, where they birthed the massive Volume I.

CLAMFIGHT have shared the stage regionally alongside Pale Divine, Bitchslicer, Hellblock Six, Rukut, A Day of Pigs and countless more, as well as national touring acts including Solace, Jucifer, and Iron Man. Their bourbon-soaked rock-bred-sludge is as soulful as it is thunderous, the kind of thing fans of Grand Magus, Beaten Back To Pure and Crowbar will flock to like free beer.

Stay tuned for more live updates as CLAMFIGHT lay down their sophomore release and take their thunder to the road throughout 2011. In the meantime you can stream the band's entire Volume Ialbum for free at their Bandcamp page here

Also check the band out live in Jersey this Saturday night to witness the band's on-stage aggression:
