Decibel Magazine Tour Line Up Announced Behemoth, Watain, The Devil's Blood and In Solitude

Behemoth, Watain, The Devil's Blood and In Solitude take part in premier heavy metal magazine's inaugural tour starting in April
Blackened clouds are gathering overhead, and it's all Decibel's fault. North America's premier heavy metal magazine is launching the maiden edition of its annual earth-scorching tour this April. The inaugural Decibel Magazine Tour will feature not just the long-awaited stateside return of Polish blackened death metal overlords Behemoth, but support from Swedish black metal provocateurs Watain, Dutch prog mystics The Devil's Blood and Swedish old-school occultists In Solitude.

Beginning in April and laying waste through a gargantuan 26-date run, the Decibel Magazine Tour (presented by Metal Blade Records, IndieMerchStore.com, FYE, ESP Guitars and Good Fight Entertainment) not only offers four diverse European artists hand-picked by the magazine, but doubles as Behemoth's first U.S. tour since vocalist/guitarist Adam "Nergal" Darski's well-documented battle with — and triumph over — leukemia.

Gruesome visual evidence of this tour package is forthcoming: We went all the way to Sweden to capture the frontmen and women of all four bands for our special DecibelMagazine Tour cover story, streeting in April. "Considering the fact that we'll be sharing the stage with the most evil and uncompromising bands around — WatainThe Devil's Blood and In Solitude — this already makes it a legendary bill that you can't miss out on!" promises Nergal. "Watch out. We won't show up—we will ARRIVE with all the strength and might!"

"Part of Decibel's mission is to push the boundaries of what a metal publication is capable of doing," adds Decibel editor-in-chief Albert Mudrian, the tour's principal curator. "By bringing bands like WatainThe Devil's Blood and In Solitude to larger stages in the U.S., we create an additional vehicle to help raise their profiles. It's another way to infect the mainstream with the power of the underground."

It only makes sense that Decibel would present a tour package with a sense of integrity, purpose and history. "It is a joint force of artistic adversity and sinister creativity," assuresWatain frontman Erik Danielsson, "which makes me think of the glorious days when bands like Venom, Metallica, Exodus and Slayer toured together like a great middle finger raised towards their sheep-minded contemporaries."

Excited yet? Well, here's an early opportunity to score a great deal AND avoid standing in line. Fifteen premium packages are available in each market that include your ticket to the show, a tour T-shirt, a tour poster and a super-exclusive "Skip The Line" pass to move you to the front when doors open. The price of this package is less than you would spend on a ticket and a tour shirt at the show! More details, including tour dates, venues and ticket info will be announced at www.decibelmagazinetour.com on January 24th. Every ticket purchased through Top Spin will come with a commemorative laminate, and all fans that purchase their ticket through Top Spin will be entered to win an ESP Guitar.

ANAAL NATHRAKH: New Track Stream Available Via Decibel Magazine

Metal's most imaginative and punishing band returns with their sixth studio album, Passion. Scheduled for a  May 17, 2011 release date via Candlelight Records, the duo known as ANAAL NATHRAKH buck all trends. Their hallmark mix of metal, industrial, grind, and noise is virtually unmatched.

With PassionANAAL NATHRAKH take their menacing sounds into newer territory that will without doubt find the band an even larger audience while continuing to garner media’s most critical acclaim. Notes popular Canadian site Hellbound, “the UK duo has produced a hurricane of sound, with a whole spectrum of throat-wrenching vocal eviscerations, thundering blasts, grinding riffs, and lightning-speed leads.” MetalSucks proclaims, “ANAAL NATHRAKH are one of the best bands out there when it comes to evoking horror and terror,” while Metal Underground added, “hatred has never sounded as exciting.”

In conjunction with its release, Decibel Magazine is currently streaming "Paragon Pariah," the seventh track from Passion. To check it out, point your browser HERE.

Since being founded in 1999, ANAAL NATHRAKH have gained a reputation for embodying the audio essence of pure evil. Collaborations with such legendary figures as Attila Csihar (Mayhem), Shane Embury and Danny Herrera (Napalm Death), Nicolas Barker (Testament, Dimmu Borgir), Joe Horvath (Circle Of Dead Children), Sethlans Teitan (Watain) and others, have placed the band high on media as well metal fans' “must seek out” list. This, alongside headlining a stage at the renowned cult Inferno Festival in Norway (as their debut international live appearance), countless placements among "Best Album Of The Year" polls and "Album Of The Month" awards in the press, ANAAL NATHRAKH's status as one of the leading lights in extreme metal is undeniable. And growing...

For 2011, ANAAL NATHRAKH presents the digested and re-vomited results of an 18-month journey through slings, arrows and outrageous misfortune. Intended in the most scourging sense of the word, Passion is an encoded vision of agony; desolation taken as the inspiration for incalculable rage. Passion includes guest contributions from Rainer Landfermann (Pavor, Bethlehem) and Alan Dubin (Khanate, Gnaw). Glorying in their Pyrrhic epiphanies, the band have developed a deeper understanding of horror and Passion is the focused, distilled and above all bleakly triumphant result.

DRUGS OF FAITH Video Now Available Via The Deciblog

This weekend Decibel Magazine's notorious blog premiered the new video for "Grayed Out," the opening track from Corroded, the upcoming full-length from Virginia grindsters DRUGS OF FAITH. The video is a stripped-down vision of the band simply rocking. The blazing video was filmed by Handshake Inc., the same crew that has provided visuals and movies for Today Is The Day and Fuck The Facts, and also filmed the Maryland Deathfest movie.
Swing by and check out "Grayed Out" at this location
Set for release via Poland's Selfmadegod Records, Corroded will be available to the public on February 22nd, 2011. Recorded at Developing Nations in Baltimore with Kevin Bernsten at the helm, and mastered by Scott Hull of Pig Destroyer/Agoraphobic Nosebleed, the album also features guest contributions from Pig Destroyer’s JR Hayes on a cover of His Hero Is Gone's "Hinges" anthem. DRUGS OF FAITH are known for merging the blistering attacks of the grindcore genre with a more dissonant and mid-paced approach, and creating the band's trademark "grind-and-roll" style.

Stay tuned for more updates on the band throughout the coming weeks.

WATAIN Update From The Road

Band Announces NYC Meet And Greet;
Lawless Darkness Earns The #2 Spot On Decibel Magazine's Top 40 Albums of 2010!

Swedish black metal titans WATAIN have been setting North America ablaze with a sound and stage show that is a true assault to the senses. Touring in support of their Lawless Darkness full-length released via Season Of Mist earlier this year, the wild ride commenced in Pittsburgh on November 6 and has been sweeping its way across the country with relentless fury. Support bands, Goatwhore and Black Anvil, have helped make the tour package one of the most pummeling (and talked about) of the year.

Said WATAIN in a collective statement: "The Lawless Darkness Tour marches on relentlessly across the States. Greetings to the legions of hungry fiends that have come out so far, and to all of you who have brought us gifts and artifacts for the stage, you will not be forgotten! It has been a wild ride, yet it is far from over... Denial of the flesh; Denial of the cunt; we are the cold seed of Satanas!"

Check out footage from the band's Seattle performance HERE OR BELOW.

WATAIN's final U.S. performance of the tour will happen this Thursday at Santos Party House in New York City. Following the show is a scheduled meet and greet at Duff's in Brooklyn. Check out the flyer HERE:

Duff's Brooklyn
168 Marcy Avenue (between S. 5th & Broadway)
Williamsburg, New York

Lawless Darkness was released via Season Of Mist on June 7. Recorded at Necromorbus Studio (Deathspell Omega, Funeral Mist, Ondskapt, etc.) in Alvik, Sweden with cover art by Zbigniew M. Bielak, the record continues to reap critical accolades from press nationwide and abroad. The band scored cover spots in some of metal’s most esteemed publications including Decibel, Terrorizer, and Subterranea (Metal Hammer’s extreme metal supplement) and the "Reaping Death," single was certified gold in Sweden for sales in excess of 10,000 copies. In addition, Lawless Darkness recently earned the #2 position in Decibel Magazine's Top 40 Albums Of 2010 [January 2011 issue]. View the feature HERE.

WATAIN: Lawless Darkness North American Tour 2010 [remaining dates]
w/ Goatwhore, Black Anvil
11/30/2010 Sonar - Baltimore, MD
12/01/2010 Peabody’s - Cleveland, OH
12/02/2010 Santo’s Party House - New York, NY
12/03/2010 Le Fou Founes - Montreal, QC
12/04/2010 Opera House - Toronto, ON

"...From the opening strains of 'Malfeitor,' WATAIN held the Rickshaw rapt with Satanic attention. Their reputation preceding them, the band completely revel in malevolence and black theatrics, from coating themselves in pig’s blood to utilizing flame as the major light source onstage. Frontman Erik Danielsson’s grim ringmastery commands attention and respect, while the band scorches their way through the soundtrack to damnation." -- Hellbound

THE WRETCHED END: New Track Streaming Via Decibel Magazine

THE WRETCHED END -- the blackthrash trio featuring ex-Emperor/ex-Zyklon guitarist Samoth, Mindgrinder/ex-Scum guitarist Cosmo and ex-Dark Funeral/ex-Aeon drummer Nils Fjellström -- recently unleashed their debut full-length, Ominous, via Candlelight Records.

In honor of its release, you can check out "The Armageddonist," the third track off the debilitating outing, courtesy of Decibel Magazine HERE.

THE WRETCHED END formed in 2008 as a creative collaboration between Samoth and Cosmo, who previously worked together in deathpunk project Scum. In addition, Cosmo played bass with Zyklon when the band toured Europe 2001 with Morbid Angel. The two have long spoken about an extreme metal project and thus, THE WRETCHED END was born.

GRIFTEGARD: Three Tracks From Overlooked Full-Length Streaming Via Decibel Magazine

Norrköping, Sweden doom metal goliaths GRIFTEGÃ…RD – vocalist Thomas Eriksson (Bokor), guitarist/lyricist Ola Blomkvist (Spetälsk, The Doomsday Cult), guitarist Per Broddesson (The Doomsday Cult, Wolverine etc.), bassist Thomas Jansson (Wolverine), and drummer Jens Gustafsson -- unleashed their debut full-length, Solemn-Sacred-Severe, in the US earlier this year via Van Records. Branded “a milestone” by Sweden Rock Magazine, who gave the record a much-deserved 9/10 rating upon its Euro release late last year, Solemn-Sacred-Severe was recorded and mixed during the first half of 2009 in Milk Studios, Norrköping, and produced by the band, with co-producer engineer/studio owner Magnus Jonsson. Arguably one of the genre’s most eclectic offerings this year, the riff heavy masterwork includes appearances from various friends of the band, all of whom added to the already multi-textured epic doom hymns.

If you somehow missed witnessing the inherent crush of this record upon its release, now's your chance to check out three tracks -- "Charles Taze Russell," "I Refuse These Ashes," and "Noah’s hands" (complete with commentary from Blomkvist) -- courtesy of Decibel Magazine HERE.

.................................................................................

"Goddamn, Candlemass move over because we’ll need a lot of room." -- Deaf Sparrow

"It’s essential that you own this album." -- Funeral Rain

"...they play a brand of traditional doom which is emotionally crushing one minute and almost soothing the next. For the most part they sound like Candlemass meets Memory Garden but they play at a pace closer to funeral doom bands. What makes them different is they are a religious band but not in the bible-pushing sense, they write emotionally charged tales and question the point of our very existence." -- Doommantia

"With just a wonderful blend of doom, atmospherics an a genuinely thought provoking narrative, Solemn. Sacred. Severe. has to be one of the most moving metal records I’ve heard in a long while." -- Popdose

"...the kind of album that doom fans would rejoice about if doom fans were the kind of people to rejoice." -- Metal Review

WOLFSHADE: New Track Stream Available Now Via Decibel Magazine

Esoteric and mysterious, WOLFSHADE explore hitherto uncharted terrain on third full-length When Above..., out now via Wraith Productions. An introspective voyage into bleak solitude and haunted resignation, When Above... offers seven mournful, organic lamentations that escort the listener to an altered state of mind, ushered there by hypnotic, trance-like odes to birth, regeneration, uncreation and (ultimately) demise.

Check out "Thrénodie Pour Un Astre Mourant," the fourth track off When Above..., brought to you by Decibel Magazine, here: http://decibelmagazine.com/Content.aspx?ncid=388699

Recorded at Raven Circle Studios in France, this time founding muse Kadhaas is joined by like-minded acolyte Samigina on the mystical journey, culminating in a new atmosphere forWOLFSHADE that is at once claustrophobic yet strangely comforting. This is music for the famished, betrayed, disillusioned soul. In the end, we are all alone.

.......................................................

"Epic and progressive, WOLFSHADE is working hard to elevate the genre to new heights... " -- Corazine

"When Above... is seven tracks of atmospherically dominant black metal with desperate almost overly-dramatic vocals." -- StereoKiller

"The band does a great job in keeping things fresh, but still maintaining the overall depressive atmosphere that will crush your soul during the almost 50 minutes of music presented on When Above….” -- Infernal Masquerade.

"Excellent album." -- Minacious

"This is the kind of depressed black metal I like best: minimalist and hypnotic, but not so simple as to induce boredom, with percussion that keeps things moving without being overly complicated, and keyboard/guitar sound that mixes elements of ambient sound and melodicism in a subtle, intriguing manner." -- TheOneTrueDeadAngel

Decibel Magazine Premieres Song From OCTOBER TIDE’s Forthcoming Album

A Thin Shell In Stores September 28

Decibel Magazine today has premiered the first song from OCTOBER TIDE's new album, A Thin Shell, scheduled for release on September 28. “Blackness Devours” can now be heard by visiting:http://decibelmagazine.com/Content.aspx?ncid=378527.

A Thin Shell is the first new album from Sweden’s OCTOBER TIDE in over ten years. Mixed/mastered at Black Lounge Studios in Sweden and featuring artwork from American photographer/graphic designer Travis Smith (Opeth, Katatonia, Testament, Death etc.) the album delivers what fans have anxiously awaited from this treasured band. Guitarist/founder Fredrik Norrman recently commented, "I have wanted to get OCTOBER TIDE back together for some time. When we decided the time was right, ideas for new songs surprisingly came together nicely. Many sleepless nights were involved, with lots of coffee of course, but the songs were written in flow one after another."

Formed in 1995 by then Katatonia guitarist Norrman and Katatonia/Bloodbath vocalist Jonas Renkse, OCTOBER TIDE quickly made a mark with two albums recorded and released during the years 1997 and 1999 (Rain Without End and Grey Dawn, respectively). Much of the band's music was written during a short break up of Katatonia which later proved only temporary as the band would reform and continues today; their latest album, Night Of The New Day, features work by Norrman. OCTOBER TIDE would not perform live during this short period of activity and few interviews with the members were granted despite praise from both media and fans. The band, until reforming in late 2009, would maintain a cult status throughout the doom/metal community.

OCTOBER TIDE currently features vocalist Tobias Netzell, drummer Robin Bergh, session bassist Jonas Kjellgren (Scar Symmetry, Carnal Forge) with Norrman.
