Odradek Room streams the opening track from first album, Бардо. Относительная реальность (En: Bardo Relative Reality)

Odradek Room is an atmospheric and progressive death-doom band formed in 2008 with post-rock leanings from Donetsk, Ukraine. The band has completed their first full length album, Бардо. Относительная реальность a conceptual album based on the ideas of the Tibetan Book of the Dead and surreal images of the subliminal consciousness, which will be released on Hypnotic Dirge in early 2013.

Their first full-length album, Бардо. Относительная реальность was initially recorded in early 2012  and self-released in digital format. However, it was later decided that the album would be re-recorded to fix up a few issues in the recordings, and that process is now complete. The upcoming album, based on the ideas of the Tibetan Book of the Dead and surreal images of the subliminal consciousness is now prepared for a release in early 2013, and is a perfect representation of Odradek Room's ability to incorporate both the agressive and melancholic sides of death-doom combining slow plodding riffs, soaring melodies, post-rock leanings, and a progressive touch.

The band was formed in 2008, initially under the name “Осколки Тишины” / “Shards of Silence”.

At the beginning of 2010, the band has approved its current name and their first release appeared on the compilation of Doom-art.ru project and gained a lot of attention with the record of their first album.

This band’s music proposes to a listener progressive doom/death with post-metal inclusions. The canvas of their music consists of permanent contrasts of aggressiveness and sadness, blackness and whiteness.

Silent Path: 'Mourner Portraits' Out Now via HDR; Whole Stream

In October 2011, Hypnotic Dirge Records has signed Silent Path to its artist roster and now is finally officially released the long-awaited debut Silent Path album, 'Mourner Portraits'!  You can order the CD for $10.00 (plus shipping) from the Hypnotic Dirge Records website or download the digital album for $5.00 from bandcamp where it is also available for free streaming in its entirety! For those who are unfamiliar with the project, it is the other major project from Saman N., the Iranian musician behind the atmospheric black metal project Ekove Efrits, who released 'Conceptual Horizon' last summer on Hypnotic Dirge

While with Ekove Efrits, Saman creates a rich and textured atmospheric sound which is filled with soaring melodies, doom-laden ambience, and deep melancholy, Silent Path however is a completely different beast altogether. The sound is grittier, darker, and much less optimistic and brings together elements of down-tempo depressive black metal, funeral doom, and ambience. with a strong emphasis on soaring melancholic riffs. This album is a bleak hour-long journey into the depravity that humanity is capable of, and should appeal to all fans of depressive black metal, in particular those who enjoy Exiled From Light, and Ekove Efrits. This album was originally completed in 2009 and now finally gets an official release, complete with a 16 page booklet including lyrics, notes, and more

Galaktik Cancer Squad signs with Hypnotic Dirge Records; newest album streams in its entirety!

The ambitious one-man project from Germany, GALAKTIK CANCER SQUAD has signed a deal with Hypnotic Dirge Records. Galaktik Cancer Squad is known for its unconventional approach in mixing the ferocity of extreme black metal with an avant-garde experimental quality of technical songwriting and a space-like atmosphere. The music of Galaktik Cancer Squad also stands apart for its extremely sparse use of vocals, making the tracks almost completely instrumental compositions.

Hypnotic Dirge Records will release the 'Strange Spheres of Hyperborea' in traditional CD format in late 2012. In the meantime however the album is currently available for streaming and "name your price" download (virtually free) in its entirety from the Galaktik Cancer Squad bandcamp page. In addition to this, GCS' debut album 'Eroberer' and compilation album of re-recorded tracks forming the album 'The Gathering' are both available for free download on Hypnotic Dirge Records' website
.

Galaktik Cancer Squad is an ambitious project from Germany. It was formed by Argwohn in 2011 and combines the ability of progressive metal with the aggression of black metal.

The name "Galaktik Cancer Squad" was intended to be a song for Uranus Explodes, a side-project formed in 2004, but the material was too heavy for a post-rock based experimental project, so it became anindependent space black metal project. The first full-length "Eroberer" was written in a few days afterforming in late august of 2011. It changed directly into the main project and more songs came up with several splits and an EP.

In December 2011 the songwriting for the second full-length "Strange Spheres of Hyperborea" started andthe recordings were finished in March 2012. This album reached a new level of modern metal music andits instrumental works with over 20 minutes playtime are just not of this world. When words can't describe the feelings about time and space, the music takes over and guides you through unknown spheres of creativity and explosive atmospheres. Because of that GCS has almost no vocals.

Besides cosmic and philosophical themes, GCS deals with pretty human problems like drugs and depressions, always looking into the abyss of the human mind.

netra: new track 'concrete ocean' available for streaming and download

The song 'concrete ocean' from the upcoming netra album to be entitled 'Sørbyen' has now been made available for streaming and free download and can be heard below. This is the second track to made available from the upcoming album Sørbyen following the release of the track 'wish she could vanish' (also available for listening below or here) a few weeks ago. This track however stands in contrast to 'wish she could vanish' in that it explores the more black metal side of netra, having a similar sound to Burzum's Filosofem album in some parts in terms of the guitar sound and vocals while still retaining the trip-hop influences persent in many netra tracks. The upcoming 'Sørbyen' album from netra will see a release on Hypnotic Dirge in the summer of 2012.

Sørbyen Tracklisting
1 - a dance with the asphalt
2 - crawling

3 - Soerbyen

4 - a kill for a hug

5 - streetlamp obsession

6 - emlazh

7- wish she could vanish

8 - my ill-posed life

9 - it's kicking in

10 - concrete ocean

11 - strange bliss at dusk

12 - i shall slay the monkeys

At first, there was nothing but these memories of a cold and grey urbanism. It is meanwhile walking down the streets of Kemper, France, that netra was first thought of, back in 2003. Nothing else could convey these horrible feelings, this underlying depression and boredom of city life. Seven years and two demos later, netra raises the interest of Nick Skog, owner of the canadian label Hypnotic Dirge Records, thanks to whom the first album "Mélancolie Urbaine" is finally brought under the spotlight in December 2010, to high acclaim from listeners and the press around the world, with some writers expressing that it was one of the best releases of 2010. With influences ranging from the moodiest jazz music to black metal and trip-hop, netra has always been about challenging the listener's open-mindedness. Two years and a moving to Norway later, netra finally comes back with a second full-length entitled "Sørbyen" to be released this summer.

Epitimia: Epikrisis VI: Leucotomy Video Released

Russians Ambient/Black Metallers "Epitimia" have posted a new promo video for Epikrisis VI: Leucotomy from the upcoming "Faces of Insanity"  album which will be released July 2012 via Hypnotic Dirge Records. The clip can be seen below.

Download the three track sampler from the upcoming Faces of Insanity album here:

EPITIMIA was founded in January 2008 by A. and K. The first their song was created as an experiment with acoustic guitar. It was called "The moment of the final spring". After that came the decision to develop that depressive metal-like sound.

"Epitimia (from Greek ἐπιτιμία - penance) is to be understood as an interdiction which, according to Church canons, the priest as a spiritual physician may apply in certain cases in order to treat the moral diseases of his spiritual children". But for the members of the band it has a little different meaning. Epitimia -- is an individualistic way to control the human spirit through self-improvement and self-contemplation.

The recording of the first demo "You, Whose Name Dies On Quivering Lips" took about two weeks. The name of this work is borrowed from the poem of Russian poet Lev Mei. The music on this demo combines the elements of atmospheric and depressive black metal with melancholic lyrics. Soon this demo was released by Mexican label "Self-Mutilation Services" in a limited edition of 150 tapes. It was re-released on CD-R on Russian label "Rigorism Production".

The first full-length titled "To the non-existing shades..." saved the mood similar to the demo. The sound was pretty rough, but there were many successful songs, that were re-recorded and appeared on next works of Epitimia. The release appeared on Russian label "Firstborn Chaos Production".

In the 2009 Epitimia invited a new member - Maria at first as vocalist (on the five-way split with Circle of Ghosts, Man o'Moon faces, Fluctus and Nirmal Hriday), and then as a drummer. With her great help a good work with russian black metal band Gmork was done. The split "Solar wind/Four seasons" appeared in May 2010.

The second full-length titled "Four Truths of the Noble Ones", was released on CD on the 29 of October by "Graillight Production" in Russia. The vinyl version was released by German black metal label "Occult Devotion Production" on the 16 of November. The sound became more black metal-oriented, but there were some experimental parts in a couple of songs, such as violin solo and emulation of full classical orchestra.

The third album called "Faces of insanity" is soon to be released. The sound became more eclectic with the influences of post-rock music. The new album is strongly conceptual. The main idea is to tell the story of an individual suffering from a mental disease.

Band members say: "With the every new album we try to improve the sound quality, to add new fresh tunes to our music, to improvise with the atmosphere. In our music we do like quotation from classical masterpieces, so if you are careful listener, you will find many interesting bright moments in our works".

Subterranean Disposition signs with Hypnotic Dirge Records

The Australian melodic doom/death metal recording project Subterranean Disposition has agreed to a deal with Hypnotic Dirge Records to release the upcoming self-titled debut album in late summer 2012. Subterranean Disposition is a one man project headed by veteran musician Terry Vainoras, known for being involved in numerous projects within the Australian metal scene over the years such as The Eternal, Cryptic Darkness, and Insomnius Dei among others.

Originally inspired by and conceived as a follow up to the music Mark Kelson had written for his and Terry’s Collaboration on the Insomnius Dei album ‘Illusions of Silence’, the forthcoming self titled Subterranean Disposition album explores further the use of dissonance and ambience, lending more dynamics to the long passages of darkness and light, crafted from the influence of early 90’s doom metal with forward thinking embellishments in song writing , in comparison to the likes of Cult of Luna and Bohren und der club of Gore… as evidenced in the first released track ‘The Most subtle of storms’.

In speaking about the signing with Hypnotic Dirge, Terry Vainoras had this to say: "I am overjoyed to be joining the great roster of bands at HDR, I feel that there is an cool aesthetic and work ethic kinship between the band and label and I am very much looking forward to working side by side with them to release this long awaited debut this summer."

In the meantime, you can check out the SUBTERRANEAN DISPOSITION PAGE for more information, and be sure to listen/watch the first released track 'The Most Subtle of Storms' either on that page, on YOUTUBE, SOUNDCLOUD, or BANDCAMP

The upcoming debut Subterranean Disposition album will feature 5 lengthy tracks of experimental dissonant and melodic doom metal for a total album length of approximately one hour. In the coming months, another track from the upcoming album will be released, most likely int eh form of another video from Subterranean Disposition musician Terry Vainoras. The album will be released in an edition of 1000 copies with the possibility of a special limited edition digipack of 100 copies. More info to come...

Subterranean Disposition Has Posted New Video 'The Most Subtle of Storms'

Below can be seen a new video from Subterranean Disposition  a new recording project from Terry Vainoras, also known for his work in bands such as Cryptal Darkness, Insomnius Dei, and The Eternal.

This track 'The Most Subtle of Storms' will be on the forthcoming self-titled debut album for Subterranean Disposition to be released on Hypnotic Dirge Records in the Summer of 2012.

Subterranean Disposition Biography:
Subterranean Disposition is a one man Melodic doom/death metal/ ambient recording project hailing from Melbourne, Australia.

It's progenitor, Terry Vainoras, is a musician's musician of the Australian metal scene, with a decade and a half long career of recording and performing with many groups, in almost as many different sub-genres of metal.

From the grindcore of Damaged, to the Swedish melodic death stylings of Earth and on through the metallic hardcore of Order of Chaos, the black metal of Hellspawn and also the doom styles of Cryptal Darkness, The Eternal and Insomnius dei, Terry has covered much musical ground and Subterranean Disposition is the melting pot of creativity where the former and recent influences can meet and interplay.

Originally inspired by and conceived as a follow up to the music Mark Kelson had written for his and Terry's Collaboration on the Insomnius Dei album 'Illusions of Silence', the forthcoming self titled Subterranean Disposition album explores further the use of dissonance and ambience, lending more dynamics to the long passages of darkness and light, crafted from the influence of early 90's doom metal and Modern Sludge with forward thinking embellishments in song writing... as evidenced in the first released track 'The Most subtle of storms'.

With six compositions with the average time of around ten minutes each, 'Subterranean Disposition' will see a release in 2012.

New STROSZEK ALBUM "Sound Graveyard Bound" NOW AVAILABLE!

Picking up where they left off on 2009's 'life failures made music', the Italian three-piece headed by Claudio Alcara (also guitarist of famous black metal band Frostmoon Eclipse) makes their Hypnotic Dirge Records debut with the new album 'sound graveyard bound' Mixing various influences including Tom Waits, and Johnny Cash, Stroszek is certainly not a typical band you'd expect to hear from someone coming from a black metal background. Instead, Stroszek is often described by its frontman as "old music for old people" but could also be described as melancholic acoustic rock with influences from american folk music and (real) country music. However, interlaced among the sombre mood and melancholy, there are also uplifting guitar solos, intricate and powerful guitar work, and a truly relaxing atmosphere.

Combining a bleak depression with absolutely beautiful melodies to drift away to, Stroszek is a project to enjoy during moments of introspection and quiet evenings. The album also includes a cover of Mike Johnson's track 'If the world hadn't gone insane' as well as the beautiful female vocals of 'Nat' on the track 'Spirits Dwell.' Absolutely recommended!

Commenting recently on the new album Alcara said “With the first release I tended to keep my vocals very far back in the mix.  As a guitarist I wasn’t used to being the centre of attention, and my vocal style is certainly not that of a “screamer”, on the contrary, I’m rather laid back, but after three albums I’m confident that my vocal style suits the music, so I’m not too worried about hiding behind the instruments this time”.

I - can't make things undone
II - shipwreck
III - hope i'll never know
IV - leftover
V - self-closure
VI - adrift
VII - spirits dwell
VIII - crows
IX - if the world hadn't gone insane (Mike Johnson Cover)
