Shining release new one-take video for “The One Inside” completely live at Californian Mojave Desert!

A few months ago, Shining released a short one-take video where they performed their hit single “I Won’t Forget” in the rubble of the demolition site for their old studio in Oslo, Norway. Now they release another video for their second single “The One Inside”, filmed completely live and in one take on a glowing hot day in the middle of the Californian Mojave Desert.

Shining’s front man Jørgen Munkeby comments:

“We’ve always thought that some of our best shows have come from venues and festivals where things were totally out of control. It’s when the local crew tells you that “you don’t need a DI on guitar”, when the monitor guy refuses to turn any more knobs, and when your amp breaks down in the first song – it’s in times like these that you often play your best gigs! The bout against your surroundings brings out the fighter in you, hell-bent on proving that the equipment does not get to decide over the music. We wanted to put ourselves in these situations and film it, believing that this would add an extra edge to the performance that I feel is missing in many of today’s music videos.”

On their way from a show in San Francisco to another show in Los Angeles the day after, the hard-working northern band decided to spend the half day they had available in the scolding sun in the middle of the desert shooting a new live video. Now you can finally see the results!

“Live On Location” is a series of videos where Shining set up in weird, unorthodox, and often uncontrollable, surroundings to perform and record live. The recording is done with one camera only, as few mics and tracks as possible, and with no editing in audio or video. The “Live on Location" series sets out to capture unique and interesting moments where great musicians conquer surroundings to make great music, and it celebrates musicianship more than technology.

“It’s a big kick when you manage to pull off something like this. I’m looking forward to making more of these videos! Who knows, maybe the next will be among polar bears and seals in the Arctic, in the middle of a traffic jam in Times Square, or on an oil rig during a huge storm in the North Sea?”

Shining Finally Announce North American Tour!

Norwegian "Blackjazz" act to play first-ever shows in Canada

Norwegian industrial jazz-metalists SHINING are excited to announce dates for a headlining North American tour this fall, including the group's first-ever performances in Canada. This marks the group's first North American activity since an acclaimed set at a Metal Hammer showcase at South By Southwest in 2012. Support acts will be announced in the coming weks.

Front man Jørgen Munkeby made the following statement:

"'It's about f**king time we come over to the States' has become quite a mantra for me in the last few years. So after a while of fooling around with a bunch of different support tour options, we just decided to grab the bull by its horns and book our own headliner tour! Shining: Another Awesome Video Released “I Won’t Forget”

A few weeks ago Shining released a clip from the band ’s upcoming video in a short and mysterious teaser. Now the full music video for the single “I Won’t Forget”, taken from their upcoming album “One One One”, is finally being released. Its proper science fiction film look gels naturally with the futuristic production of the audio track, and creates a music video that perfectly portrays the unique aesthetics of the Blackjazz Rebels from up north.

“We are extremely happy and excited to finally be able to show you our new video! The song “I Won’t Forget” is my absolute favorite of all the tracks we’ve ever made, and to be able to top this track off with such a beautiful, crisp and clean science fiction video is a dream come true”, says Shining’s front man, Jørgen Munkeby.

Director Kyrre Larsen, from the Blæst production company, comments: “Since I first heard Blackjazz, I've somehow associated the sound of Shining's music with science-fiction. I tried to create a sense of this in the video for "Fisheye” in 2012. "I Won't Forget" builds on that video, but I wanted to take things one step further - and also avoid the style of imagery usually associated with heavier music.”

The avant-garde Norwegian group Shining – whose unique "blackjazz" hybrid of extreme progressive metal, experimental jazz-fusion and industrial precision has earned extensive international acclaim – will release "One One One," their first studio album in three years, this spring in North America and Europe. The album, which is available now for pre-order, will be released digitally in North America on April 23, with physical releases on CD and gatefold LP to follow soon after.

Shining: Teaser for I Won't Forget video

Black Jazz Shining releases the brand new teaser for the upcoming "I Won't Forget" music video. The main music video for the track will be out very soon! Stay tuned! The video was directed by Kyrre Larsen from Blæst, who also did "Fisheye video". "We'll post a complete list of cast and crew when the main video is released." Said the band.

SHINING (NOR) ANNOUNCE MUSIC VIDEO BY POPULAR DEMAND

       “Two years after, by popular demand. Why it didn’t happen earlier, we don’t understand.”

       With this mysterious phrase, the Norwegian jazz metal band SHINING unveils a release date for the upcoming music video for their most popular track “FISHEYE”, released almost exactly on this day two years ago with their now classic and genre defining album “BLACKJAZZ”. The music video is made due to POPULAR DEMAND, they say in their statement, which might explain why it is released so long after the song was released.
