WEEDEATER: Cape Fear Sludge Rogues Lock Down North American Summer Tour

Following a short tour based around their gnarly spot at this year’s Maryland Deathfest, Cape Fear, North Carolina’s rogue sludge trio WEEDEATER today confirms a brand new load of debauchery-ridden live gigs for the Summer season.

Sponsored by Invisible Oranges, the shit hits the fan June 27th in Savanna, Georgia, when WEEDEATER hits the stage with ASG, then taking them out for the following fourteen dates through the Deep South and up the West Coast to Seattle. Following that is an eight-city stretch with no direct opening support through Canada and the Midwest, and then wrapping up the trek is another eight-date run with Lo Pan providing support.

WEEDEATER Confirm April Tour With ASG And Cough

After a few weeks off, following nearly three years of semi-constant touring, Cape Fear's sludge-slingers WEEDEATER decided they have been off the road long enough, and that it's time to go reap some more hard-partying souls.

Set for the band to celebrate 4:20 on the road mid-tour, the newest endeavor will burn its way through a pile of East US cities in the second half of April, from New England to the tip of Florida. WEEDEATER have commissioned ASG and Cough to be their pummeling backup for the entire tour, with sixteen dates locked-down and more likely to be confirmed in the weeks ahead.

WEEDEATER Tour Underway; Ticket Giveaways Available

WEEDEATER's 34-date headlining North American tour -- the latest in support of the band's new full-length, Jason... The Dragon -- has kicked off this first week of September in grand style and will continue its rampage across the country through mid-October. You can catch the tour on the East Coast this weekend. WEEDEATER's "Mancoon/Turkey Warlock" Video Has Been Unleashed!

Cape Fear's raging trio WEEDEATER have today unleashed their freshly-baked "Mancoon/Turkey Warlock" video to the masses, and this one is a must-see.

The video is for the segued third and fourth tracks from the band's latest full-length, Jason... The Dragon.

WEEDEATER and their team were going for a "Deliverance meets Scooby-Doo and Three Stooges kind of vibe" on the direction of the video, and unquestionably succeeded in that! Presented as part of Scion's A/V series, the whimsical but freakishly dark video was captured in the swampy backwoods in the band's backyard by David Brodsky of My Good Eye Visuals, who has directed videos for Suffocation, Misery Index, Amon Amarth, Hate Eternal, Municipal Waste, Unearth, Goatwhore and dozens of other national acts. Stated the WEEDEATER camp in a recent update about the filming of the video: "After viewing, those of you from the old-school might recognize that some portions of the filming took place out in the swamps of Hampstead at the old Weedeater house (thanks, Jimmy!). Aside from the water moccasins, the alligators and the giant Hampstead mosquitoes, we couldn't have asked for a more suitable location."

WEEDEATER Band Member Injured (Yes, Again); Canceled Shows To Be Rescheduled

Well, they made it through a month and a half of heavy duty touring in support of Jason...The Dragon, playing packed and sold-out shows every day in front of rabid crowds from coast to coast. But as with all things WEEDEATER, somebody in the band was finally injured and they were forced to cancel the last few shows of the US leg of their Jason...The Dragon tour. These shows were in the Southeast US and will be rescheduled at a later date.

 

As for the injury sustained; guitarist Shep broke his hand and could no longer wield his mighty axe of six strings for the remaining shows. But, as with every previous injury this band has sustained -- while on or off of tour -- Shep has been healing his mangled bones and WEEDEATER will be getting back out there to hit you all with a dose of their inhumanly heavy live show almost immediately. And of course it follows that WEEDEATER's upcoming European tour and appearance at Roadburn 2011 are still happening, so Europe, get ready to be pummeled. WEEDEATER has been fortunate enough to receive a very warm reception from fans who are reveling in Jason... The Dragon, including incredible responses at the shows; the masses were brutalized at SXSW and a good number of the other shows on the tour completely sold-out. The reception has also been evident in the sales department with the album debuting at #45 on Billboard's Heatseekers chart.

WEEDEATER: Jason... The Dragon Tour and SXSW Update

North Carolina sludge warriors WEEDEATER's upcoming Jason... The Dragon Tour is set to kick off this Friday with a hometown Wilmington sendoff, and will continue to collectively kick in the nation's ass for five weeks following that night! WEEDEATER's new full-length of southern brewed hostility Jason... The Dragon rears it's blazed head on March 15th, 2011 while the band will already be a month into the massive tour.

 

Since previous tour announcements, Kvelertak have been added to many of the West Coast stops of the tour, Red Fang have been added to the LA show, and the Chico, California venue has been changed. WEEDEATER Track Premiere Via BrooklynVegan Today; New Tour Dates Added

Today the fine folks at BrooklynVegan have posted a brand new track from WEEDEATER's upcoming new full-length Jason... The Dragon for the public's recreational enjoyment. The raging anthem "Mancoon" can be heard at this location, so put that in your pipe and smoke it!

WEEDEATER will also launch the previously announced five-week US tour in support of Jason... The Dragon later this month, splitting support between ASG on the first string of dates, and by Zoroaster for the rest of the trek. Just this week the tour grew three dates longer, with brand new dates being confirmed for Chico, California, Tempe, Arizona and Panama City Beach, Florida. WEEDEATER Confirm Full U.S. Tour

North Carolina henchmen WEEDEATER today confirm the details on their mammoth five-week American tour, set to begin one month from today. Sponsored by Brooklyn Vegan, the brutal tour will be fully in support of WEEDEATER's upcoming album Jason... The Dragon, due out on Southern Lord March 15th, 2011. WEEDEATER will be supported by ASG on the first eight gigs, then by Zoroaster for the majority of the tour. The trek also includes the band's invasion of SXSW in Austin; details on live activities for WEEDEATER and several Southern Lord artists will be announced in the coming days. The band's second album for Southern Lord Recordings, Jason... The Dragon was mastered by the legendary John Golden at Golden Studios in southern California, unearthing the true grit that this band dumps forth. With no argument to be had, Jason... is by far WEEDEATER's most varied and organic recording to date, taking their caustic, resin-coated sludge to otherworldly new realms of delirium by the band simply taking it all closer to home, integrating acoustic bass, banjo, piano, and sporadic cleaner vocal tactics. This is still WEEDEATER. It's just WEEDEATER at their finest hour yet.
