ALARIC & ATRIARCH Split LP Streaming At BrooklynVegan

As the split LP with Oakland's ALARIC and Portland's ATRIARCH is just two weeks from official release via 20 Buck Spin, today BrooklynVegan are streaming the whole damn thing to gloomify your week RIGHT HERE.

Set for worldwide release on May 15th, the split LP offers three new ALARIC tracks on the A-side and two from ATRIARCH on the B-side, making for nearly a half-hour of brand new material as both bands are diligently crafting their next full-length releases for later this year. The two acts recently completed a short pre-release tour, showcasing new material from the LP to audiences up and down the West Coast. Orders for the split LP are being taken now via 20 Buck Spin.

ALARIC released their self-titled debut LP via 20 Buck Spin in October 2011 to incredible critical acclaim worldwide, the band's infectious execution of coalescing classic dark anarcho punk, new wave and Goth influences into their own unique entity, both haunting and instantly memorable. Some called it the album Amebix should have made. Zero Tolerance Magazine proclaimed without hyperbole, "Morbid, threatening and obsidian... Album of the Year by a long shot." Portland's ATRIARCH released their debut LP Forever The End in 2011 via Seventh Rule. A harrowing amalgam of death rock, black metal and doom, the band were quickly considered one to watch. Featuring past members of 20 Buck Spin alumni Graves At Sea and Trees, the band is currently in the studio recording their second LP and first for Profound Lore.

ALARIC Premiere New Track Via Pitchfork

With the release of Bay Area dark punk act ALARIC's self-titled debut full-length nearing release early this October, today Pitchfork Media have unveiled a song from the forthcoming album to the public. The third track from Alaric, the ominous "Your God" showcases some of the prime examples of how ALARIC infuse their Anarcho punk roots with Gothic, post-punk stylings formulaically creating a unique take on these vintage styles.

Featuring former and current members of Noothgrush, Enemies, Cross Stitched Eyes, Dead & Gone, UK Subs and more, ALARIC perpetuate classic 80's dark post-punk elements, with influence from Killing Joke, Rudimentary Peni, Christian Death and Joy Division showing through. The immediately infectious songs and revamped classic/retro nature of the album sets ALARIC's sound apart from any other contemporary act under the banner of punk rock.

+ + +

"... looks toward 1980s dark punk, goth, and crust then brings it intensely to the present." - Pitchfork

"...the band delivers a signature sound: heavy on the reverb guitars, gorilla drums, and surely scowling angry vocals." - Music Emissions

"The production can be suitably ethereal, the drums delicate and otherworldly, the guitars can drone and swirl behind the vocals which sit at a level in the mix to suggest that each of these elements is as important to the whole as each other." - Alternative Matter

"This burrowing style sets Alaric apart as an act whose refusal to bow to any current trends should be admired and supported, particularly with the end results of their self-titled debut being this good." Metal Army America

ALARIC: Cast Of Punk Veterans To Release Debut LP Via 20 Buck Spin

Oakland-based ALARIC are preparing to release their debut album via 20 Buck Spin this Autumn.

Featuring alumni of Noothgrush, Enemies, Cross Stitched Eyes, Dead & Gone, UK Subs and more, the members of ALARIC joined forces several years ago, and have existed without much visibility until now. Far from resembling a stew of the band's previous acts in any way, ALARICresemble more of the late 80's dark post-punk, with elements of Killing Joke, Rudimentary Peni, Christian Death, Joy Division and Amebix, their plodding songs flowing cohesively as animate entities of their own, yet wholly bearing a sorrowful, pained overtone. The immediately infectious songs and revamped classic/retro nature of the album sets ALARIC's sound apart from any other contemporary act under the banner of punk rock.

Showcasing nearly 46 minutes of the potent, hypnotic ALARIC brew, the self-titled album is set for worldwide release on October 11th, in LP, CD and digital formats. 20 Buck Spin is proud to present this remarkable Bay Area act's debut album, not only since they've known some of the members since high school, but the label also stands heavily by their opinion that this LP is also certainly the best dark punk LP of the year.

Stay tuned for more info on ALARIC as the release date for the LP approaches, and as the band begin their upcoming tour schedule throughout Western North America and beyond into 2012.
