ALLEGAEON Releases "Secrets Of The Sequence" Performance Demo; Full US Tour Begins Today!

Colorado natives, ALLEGAEON, recently completed a brand new performance demo video. Watch as guitarist Greg Burgess and bassist Corey Archuleta show fans how they play "Secrets of the Sequence," the epic closing track to their latest studio offering, Formshifter. The video is streaming now at metalblade.com/allegaeon.

In addition to the video, fans will be able to see ALLEGAEON LIVE throughout the US for the next two months, beginning today. The band is performing a series of headlining shows leading up to their US tour with Wretched, Abiotic, and Rivers of Nihil. The confirmed listing of dates can be found below, as well as their official Facebook page.

Comments Burgess of the tour: "We are super stoked to be getting back on the road, and we think we've got a pretty fun set for the fans. Our headlining shows will be about an hour, playing songs from every release of our career, including the debut of a brand new song ‘The Fibonacci Series.’ As for the bulk of the tour with Wretched, Abiotic, and Rivers of Nihil, we're incredibly excited. We've been wanting to tour with our buddies in Wretched for a long time now, and are stoked to finally see it come to fruition. And it's gonna be awesome to meet our label mates Abiotic and Rivers of Nihil! This tour is gonna blow people’s minds! Bring your riot gear."

ALLEGAEON's second full-length album, Formshifter, has significantly surpassed its predecessor and debuted at #29 on the Billboard New Artist Chart and #99 on the Top Hard Music Albums Chart. This is a huge achievement for the band as they continue to carve out their foothold within the metal community. Formshifter has earned critical acclaim worldwide. Metal Hammer crowns the band, "the new face of ruthless modern death metal," Nocleansigning.com callsFormshifter “a bewilderingly powerful album that is an essential of the year," while Outburn Magazine raves in a 10/10 review, “one of the landmark releases in melodic death metal in 2012…fans of pure metal that is both ambitious and true to its roots need this record in their lives. Now." Elsewhere Kerrang Magazine gushes, “It's not just the magnificently blended barrage of monstrous riffs and insidious hooks. Nor is it solely due to the fact it sounds like the quartet are trying to bring the sky crashing down on your head. And it's not just the wealth of complex leads that will make many guitarists petulantly sulk in the corner after a single exposure. It's all of those elements – combined with great songwriting that makes the record truly special."

ALLEGAEON to release new album, "Formshifter", in May; new song available now!

Behind-the-scenes studio video also available

In January 2012, Allegaeon traveled to Southern California and entered Lambesis Studios with Daniel Castleman (As I Lay Dying, Impending Doom, Carnifex, Winds of Plague) to begin work on Formshifter. The latest album brings forward a sound that both plays off the band's previous releases mixed in with some new flavors that will be sure to enthrall old and new fans alike.

Guitarist Greg Burgess had this to say about the new album, "With "Formshifter", I think we kept the sound a lot of our fans love about us, but achieved them through certain compositional challenges. Be it style, or genre mixing, I believe that we seamlessly applied certain elements we didn't have on Fragments, and it added a color and dimension we didn't have before". Guitarist Ryan Glisan adds, "This album to me indicates the future of the band but nods to our past as well. It, to me, is more of where I have envisioned our band being since I started the band a couple years back, it relies on similar songwriting structures and musicality but adds more groove and memorable riffing than our previous efforts."

Lyrics, an oft over-looked facet of death metal is one the more interesting aspects of Allegaeon. The band crafts their prose with a bit of a different mindset - often touching on space, civilization and philosophy. Vocalist Ezra Haynes elaborates on the band's first single from the album; "'Tartessos: The Hidden Xenocryst' is definitely one that sticks out to me. I was raised on Edgar Cayce readings and tales of Atlantis. When Greg [Burgess] and I knew we wanted to touch base on an ancient civilization, Atlantis was the logical choice."

Formshifter t-shirt/CD pre-order bundles, a stream and download of Tartessos: The Hidden Xenocryst, as well as the behind-the-scenes studio video can both be seen now at metalblade.com/allegaeon.

Allegaeon writing new record; set to record at Lambesis Studios with Daniel Castleman

Allegaeon is preparing to enter the studio to record their second album for Metal Blade, and the follow up to the highly rated Fragments of Form and Function. This time around, the guys will be heading to San Diego to record with immensely talented up-and-coming producer, Daniel Castleman at Lambesis Studios. The band plans to record this December.

Guitarist Ryan Glisan discusses recording and their drummer situation in the following update:

"First off, all of us here in the Allegaeon camp are happy to announce that we will be recording our follow-up to "Fragments of Form and Function" this December at Lambesis studios in San Diego, with Daniel Castleman, who has worked with such bands as As I lay Dying, Carnifex and Molotov Solution and we are excited to see what Daniel can do with our style.

All the songs are written and we are finishing up vocals and solos as we speak. What can you expect from our new album???? I think we can all say that this album is where we have wanted to be as a band for a long time, its fresh, super heavy, melodic, a ton of groove oriented old school style riffing, just as much blasting as down tempo beats and on a whole the album has very cohesive and consistent sound that mixes intensity with musicality, and as usual there's about a thousand solos haha. I think people will not necessarily hear what they are expecting to hear, but in a good way.

Second, we would like to announce that JP Andrade will be taking over on drums for our follow-up album and are excited to see what he can bring to Allegaeon. JP is as well versed in extreme death metal styles as he is with other styles such as rock and Jazz etc.

Other details about the album will be revealed in the following months leading up to its release next spring/summer. Stayed tuned for many studio videos, photos and announcements here soon."

Fans can check out JP Andrade's drum videos on youtube on his channel at http://www.youtube.com/XtremeDrummer14X. Also available on youtube are previews of solo sections from the upcoming Allegaeon album. The first two videos by Greg Burgess and Ryan Glisan can be seen HERE and HERE. In other news, Allegaeon have partnered up with the BlkHeart Group as their official management team. Fans can keep up with news from their end at http://blkheartgroup.com/. Fans can look forward to many more updates, new merch, videos and tour announcements throughout the coming months.

Formed early in the summer of 2008, Allegaeon have come to the table with a dynamic, memorable and focused take on extreme melodic metal. There are just as many slow grooves and hook-laden riffs as blast beats. This is a band that focuses on song writing and less on making music into an athletic speed competition. Their music is rounded with an intellectual edge that's forged by the band's collective musical prowess and polished by Ezra Haynes' thought provoking lyrics. Outburn Magazine gave the band a 9 out of 10 rating and claims; "Fragments of Form and Function has it all: memorable songs, brutal delivery, stone cold groove, and accomplished playing. It is a good bet that the critics will dubFragments of Form and Function one of the best modern metal albums of the year." While Metal Hammer Magazine callsAllegaeon "the new face of ruthless modern death metal… sheer, psychotic zeal." Allegaeon's debut full-length Fragments of Form and Function was released July 20th, 2010.
