CARDIAC ARREST To Play Central Illinois Metalfest This Weekend

Tomorrow night (Saturday, July 14th) Chicago death purists CARDIAC ARREST will lay waste to Urbana, IL when they make a triumphant return to this year's Central Illinois Metalfest. A fest favorite in years past, this weekend's performance promises to be something special as the band will be on stage in support of their most recent release, Vortex of Violence.

Their fourth full-length release, Vortex of Violence is "pure, old-school death metal at its finest," according to Meat Mead Metal and Exclaim.ca praised the record for its "bone-crushing aggression, with hammering blast beats, frenzied guitar riffs and guttural vocals that spew horrific, gory lyrics."

Following up the bulldozer that was 2010 s Haven for the Insane, Chicago-based death metal purists Cardiac Arrest are set to return this Spring with their highly-anticipated fourth full album. Aptly titled Vortex of Violence, Cardiac Arrest once again demonstrates what true death metal is all about with a vicious and relentless assault of grinding intensity and neck-snapping aggression. Continually pushing their sound to new levels of extremity and excellence, Vortex of Violence is the mark of a band whose primary goal is to write music that will not only outlive, but absolutely crush any trend that attempts to pollute the genre of death metal. 2012 sees Cardiac Arrest poised to rip the coveted Chicago death metal crown off the head of any and all challengers. The album is available for purchase online here.

CARDIAC ARREST To Release Vortex of Violence on May 22nd Through Ibex Moon Records

Guitarist Tom Knizner had this to say about the release and the recent addition of drummer Nick Gallichio, "Well, the new Cardiac Arrest album, Vortex of Violence is about to be unleashed.  We have been relatively quiet about this release until now.  No need to bore anyone with the details why.  Vortex of Violence was completed in early 2011 and we decided to sit on it until we felt the time was right.  2011 brought about a line-up change and we decided to work with our new drummer, Nick Gallichio, rather than push an album or do extensive live stuff.  2011 was a tough but rewarding year for us, and we look forward to 2012.  Cardiac Arrest will again perform live a handful of times in 2012, so be sure to catch us when you can.  Cheers and beers!"

Guitarist/vocalist Adam Scott added the following, "Alright ladies and gentlemen, it's with pleasure we give you VORTEX OF VIOLENCE, our new album which will once again be released on Ibex Moon Records. Not gonna sit and yammer about how "this is our greatest album to date" because everyone says that I'm sure you're sick of hearing that. We hope you enjoy the eleven tracks of Heart Stopping Death Rot that ooze from your speakers!! Til next time...LET THE BLOOD FLOW FREELY!!!!!!"

Vortex of Violence will be released on May 22nd via Ibex Moon Records. Pre-orders are now being accepted at this location and online orders will begin shipping around May 9th. To prepare fans for the aural assault to come, Cardiac Arrest has made the track "Primitive Lunacy" available for streaming on their ReverbNation Page. Wear a helmet...

Cardiac Arrest has announced the following live dates, including a hometown show with the legendary Autopsy, along with Cianide, Bones and Reign Inferno, next weekend (Saturday, May 5th). The band will have copies of Vortex of Violence on hand at the show.

GRAVEHILL Enlists CARDIAC ARREST Guitarist Tom Knizner For San Diego Metal Swap Meet

With guitarist Hellfiend (aka Matt Harvey) committed to destroying the European countryside with EXHUMED, Los Angeles-based death metal horde GRAVEHILL have turned to CARDIAC ARREST ax-wielder Tom Knizner to fill-in for the band's performance at this year's San Diego Metal  Swap Meet. An official statement from the band reads as follows:

"GRAVEHILL has a unique addition to our ranks for the San Diego Metal Swap Meet gig on April 23rd. Due to a scheduling conflict, Hellfiend is unable to attend since he will be gallivanting across Europe with EXHUMED! So without further ado we invited Tommy "Deathstrike" Knizner of CARDIAC ARREST to commit decibel homicide with us... GRAVEHILL is honored to have him aboard for this one of a kind event, we are looking forward to destroying The Ruby Room with Tommy Deathstrike!
HELL METAL HOLOCAUST!!!"

GRAVEHILL vocalist Mike Abominator further commented:

"The only other asshole that was brutal enough to kill with us for a fill in gig was Tom Knizner. We have become great friends with this Chicago metal maniac over the last few years, and he fits the criteria of a Gravehill member - Completely crazy and really doesn't give a flying fuck about anything else than playing death noise heavy metal at decibels that make posers piss and shit themselves! Plus he is noon beers deep by noon and he can still play better than all of these fancy fucks, so we look forward to Tommy Deathstrike's rancid riffs of terror for this special show in San Diego!"

GRAVEHILL recently finished recording their highly-anticipated new album, entitled When All Roads Lead To Hell. More details coming soon. Stay tuned fuckers!

CARDIAC ARREST PREPARE TO UNLEASH HAVEN FOR THE INSANE. US TOUR TO FOLLOW.

On June 8th, Chicago's Cardiac Arrest will release their Ibex Moon Records debut, Haven For The Insane. The band's third full-length, Haven For The Insane promises to deliver the kind of aural pummeling that only the most extreme brand of death metal can provide. Here's what the critics have to say:

Extreme low end Death metal that goes for the harmonics as much as the throat. - Absolute Zero

I loved every track on this album as it blends breakneck grind speed with pounding death rhythms that anyone from the late 80s and early 90s will remember so well. Anyone with an interest in Autopsy, early Death, Obituary, Malevolent Creation, Deicide, insert your favourite 90s death metal band here ………………………, will absolutely worship this. - Metal Team UK

Monstrous old school death with murder one barrel bottom vocals, cement mixer rhythms and of course, buzzsaw riffs - Battlehelm

Drummer "Grindhead" Jim Deabenderfer, regarding the release of Haven for the Insane:

"We are very proud of this record, and couldn't be happier with the initial press response. The metal community has been very supportive of us in the past, but the reception of HFTI so far has been a welcome surprise. Die hard CA fans should love what we have in store for them with this one, and new listeners are also in for a treat. This isn't a death metal record for the squeamish - it's a statement that aggressive, low end death metal is alive and well. Ibex Moon has put together a phenomenal package for the disc, with a bonus DVD that we think is a step above most of the ones being put out these days. We hope everyone enjoys this release, and we look forward to a future filled with ROT."

Preorder your copy of Haven For The Insane here.

Shortly after the release of Haven For The Insane, Cardiac Arrest will join Ibex Moon Records labelmates Gravehill and Hod on the Campaign For Death Metal Purity 2010 tour. Kicking off July 2nd in Portland, OR, this tour was designed for the sole purpose of taking Death Metal back to its roots, a time when metal wasn’t a fashion statement and Death Metal came from some place much more sinister and far more deadly!

Guitarist Tom Knizner had this to say regarding the upcoming tour.

"We are looking forward to tearing it up across the U.S. with our brothers in Gravehill and HOD. Although we've played many shows together before with both bands, having all three bands tour together is something that has been discussed for quite some time now, but didn't happen for one reason or another. Now that it finally is, be prepared for a true death metal assault. Looking forward to returning to the cities we have played in the past and cities we have not yet played and hanging out with everyone. "

Jim adds:

"This tour is a great way to say thank you to the CA fans in the US that put us where we are today, and the perfect platform for us to infect a whole new crop of death metal fans. Gravehill and HOD are truly top tier acts, and we are honored to be sharing the experience with them. Do NOT miss this."

CARDIAC ARREST / Haven For The Insane

On June 8 Ibex Moon Records will release Haven for the Insane, the third full-length album from Illinois’ CARDIAC ARREST. This is no frills American death metal that leaves one remembering the varied songwriting and bulldozerish grooves, while never forgetting the pain inflicted from the merciless pummel and the tales of horror told through the lyrics. The riffs gouge out the eyes, the searing solos pierce the skin, the rhythmic assault batters the body, and the commanding growl ‘n screech vocals will leave listeners in a perpetual state of shock and awe. The band has established a devout fan base in the Midwest through unforgettable live performances and an impressive catalogue that continues to garner attention in death metal circles.

We’d love to your hear thoughts on Haven for the Insane and any plans for review and/or interview coverage, as well as radio play. Please get in touch atclawhammerpr@gmail.com.

CARDIAC ARREST is:

Adam Scott - Forbidden Passages/Guitarted Six Stringdom
Dave “Amsterdam Holland - Intestines on Wood and Vomitous Rhetoric
Jim Deabenderfer - Poser Pounder and additional Spews
Tom Knizner - Sick six strings and Pukings

Cardiac Arrest began its existence in the spring of 1997, with original members Jim Nichols (bass, later drums) and Adam Scott (guitars/vocals). By 2001, Cardiac Arrest became more stable and active. After enduring various lineup changes and exploring side projects, Cardiac Arrest refocused in 2004 to record the MCD Demo Heart Stopping Death Rot, released in August of that same year. Many shows followed throughout the Midwest with the lineup of Adam Scott, M. Raiman, and Ed Baugh.

Shortly after recording the now-classic Beast Among Many 7” for Famine Records, Adam sought new members to round out the CA machine. Over the better part of 2005, CA was joined by Jim “.50 Cal” Deabenderfer and David “Amsterdamn” Holland, on drums and bass, respectively. It was this lineup that would help to solidify Cardiac Arrest as a death metal monster in the Midwest and the surrounding area. Before long, the three piece had written and recorded CA’s full length debut, Morgue Mutilations, for Redrum Records, released in October of 2006.

During the recording process for Morgue Mutilations, Tom “Terror” Knizner was added to the fold on second guitar and vocals. This lineup has been stable since May 2006, spreading the Word Of Rot throughout the US for over three and a half years.

It would not be long before the well-oiled machine of Cardiac Arrest would begin writing again. The resulting sophomore effort, Cadaverous Presence (released on Epitomite Productions in spring 2008), was a definitive statement of what Cardiac Arrest had grown into: a grinding death metal outfit with undeniable chops. The band showed a maturity in the craft of songwriting that is often lacking in so-called modern death metal that has become their trademark to this day. It also marked the first time the band would self-produce at Kai Kauffman’s Polymorph Media Studio.

Cardiac Arrest has shared the stage with many metal titans over the years, to include, but not limited to: Napalm Death, Destruction, Extreme Noise Terror, Incantation, Funerus, Acheron, Impetigo, Mortician, Estuary, Vital Remains, Anal Blast, Lividity, Goreaphobia, Massacre, Resurrection, Denial Fiend, Impaled, and many, many more; through such respected festivals as Central Illinois Metalfest, Milwaukee Metalfest, Los Angeles Murderfest, Michigan Metalfest, Mayhem in May (KY), and several stateside tours.

Haven For the Insane, Cardiac Arrest’s long-awaited third full-length album, was recorded in the winter of 2008/2009, at Polymorph once again. Mastering and artwork were completed as of November 2009, and the band eagerly awaits the day to unleash this new monster on the world at large. Cardiac Arrest signed to Ibex Moon Records in February 2010, and is eager for the opportunity to spread the word of ROT on a global scale. Appearances in support of Haven For The Insane at Central Illinois Metalfest and Michigan Deathfest 2010 are scheduled; several tours are in the works.

If you have any further questions, please email info@ibexmoonrecords.com, in association with Ibex Moon Records.
