VIRUS TO HEADLINE THE "AND NOW FOR SOMETHING COMPLETELY DIFFERENT" TOUR WITH FELLOW IRREGULARS VULTURE INDUSTRIES, KRAKOW & MONDVOLLAND

Details of the “And Now For Something Completely Different Tour” with a four-band line of experimental/avant-garde bands headed by VIRUS have been announced today.  Joining the cult Norwegians will be fellow countrymen VULTURE INDUSTRIES and KRAKOW along with the MONDVOLLAND from the Netherlands.  Confirmed dates on the December tour as follows and anyone interested in booking the two remaining dates should contact bjornar@propulsionmusic.no:
Fri 07 Dec:  Willemeen , Arnhem (NL)
Sat 08 Dec: Ferrailleur,  Nantes (FR)
Sun 09 Dec: Glazart,  Paris (FR)
Mon 10 Dec: Markthalle, Hamburg (DE)
Tue 11 Dec:  The Underworld,  London (UK)
Wed 12 Dec: TBC
Thu 13 Dec: Orto Bar,  Ljubljana (SLO)
Fri 14 Dec: Gaswerk Kulturzentrum, Winterthur (CH)
Sat 15 Dec: TBC
VIRUS was formed in 2000 by guitarist / singer Carl-Michael "Czral" Eide (AURA NOIR, former / founder member of ULVER, SATYRICON, DØDHEIMSGARD, CADAVER etc., along with bass player extraordinaire Petter "Plenum" Berntsen (AUDIOPAIN) and drummer Einar "Einz" Sjursø (LAMENTED SOULS, INFERNÖ,ex BEYOND DAWN), with the intention of taking key elements of Czral's former avant-garde black metal band VED BUENS ENDE further into weirdness and farther from metal. Through three critically acclaimed album releases Czral's unique dissonant guitar flavour and song writing has fascinated, puzzled and ensnared listeners worldwide, not least thanks to the live performances (as a 5-piece) the band have undertaken since early 2011, including Sonisphere, Brutal Assault, Hole In The Sky, Aurora Infernalis etc.
VIRUS is also set to release a mini album to coincide with the tour.  Titled “Oblivion Clock”, the album runs at over thirty minutes and features four new track and three bonus tracks that until now have only been available on extremely limited releases.  At the same time band will also be releasing a new vinyl edition of their sophomore album “The Black Flux”.  “Oblivion Clock”, together with a new line of VIRUS merchandise, will be available as a digifile CD on the tour, and is also already available to pre-order from virulentmusic.bigcartel.com along with the “Black Flux” vinyl. More information about VIRUS can be found on the band’s website at http://virusnorway.com/
The other three bands on the tour all bring their own very individual interpretations of the eclectic experimental/avant-garde genre.  VULTURE INDUSTRIES, whose style tends towards the more progressive and extreme, are fronted by Bjornar Nilsen, known for his manic theatrical performances which garner praise for the band wherever they appear.  They have just signed with Season of Mist for the release of their third-full length album, and will be debuting new material during the tour.  More information on VULTURE INDUSTRIES can be found the band’s website at http://www.vulture-industries.net/
KRAKOW, whose second full-length album “diin” was released on Dark Essence Records in September, could fit equally well within the post-rock, metal and stoner rock genres with a sound that ranges from dark, evocative and mesmerizing to fast, aggressive and heavy.  They recently added KAMPFAR drummer Ask Ty Arctander to their line up. More information about KRAKOW can be found on the band’s website at http://www.krakowofficial.com/
Rounding off the line up is MONDVOLLAND, who bring touches of Black Folk metal deeply rooted in ancient myths and traditions of the Eastern Netherlands to their music. The release of their “Pestvogel” EP earlier this year showed that MONDVOLLAND was embarking on a different route from their debut full-length “d’Olde Roop”, with the intention of breathing new life into the somewhat staid Pagan/Folk scene. More information about MONDVOLLAND can be found on the band’s website at http://www.mondvolland.com/

Terminatryx "Virus"

Sonja & Paul

A new breed of South African music. TERMINATRYX couldn’t find a musical movement catering to their specific taste. In 2002 they set out to create their own by blending their love of hard- & electronic music with that of the moods created by sci-fi / horror / extreme movies + a touch of sexually charged danger to initialize their own dark edged Industrial Metal movement. Since then they have cultivated & sculpted their sound, systematically shaping these unique creations. Besides their debut album & DVD release, they perform live soundtracks to silent horror classics at their HorrorFest film festival. Coming soon - full remix album with international and South African remixers.

TERMINATRYX live

"Virus" the music video of Cape Town based female-fronted Industrial-Metal band TERMINATRYX. The clip also exists in an extended short film version with more special make-up FX. To be uploaded here.

In July 2010 Flamedrop Productions, in co-operation with Cosmesis Advanced Prosthetic Studio, Visual Impact / Magus, Magic Hour Productions, Furry Wood Productions and Silver Bullet Lighting tackled the grueling task of shooting a combo of the short film "Marked", the Terminatryx "Virus" music video, both flowing from the (werewolf transformation) promo clip made in 2009 for the annual South African HORRORFEST Film Festival - see the original clip here  and a teaser of the expanded movie & music video.

Both the extended short film version of Terminatryx "Virus" music video (entitled "Marked"), and  short film "imPERFECTION" (feat. on the "Terminatryx / Nosferatu" DVD) will screen at the National Arts Festival's film event (in Grahamstown, Eastern Cape) together with Porselynkas > Thurs 7 July (5pm) & Fri 8 July (5pm).

Sonja
The bulk of this was shot over a single weekend with very little sleep in the middle of the Cape Town winter (with a few pick-up shots in July and October).

The movie was shot on the Canon 5D MKII camera, supplied by Visual Impact / Magus, chosen for its superior quality and user friendly handling -http://www.visuals.tv

Both TERMINATRYX "Virus" and "Marked" made their debut at the 2010 South African HORRORFEST Film Festival over Halloween season, and got the Audience Choice Award, plus Best Special Make-Up FX.

Broken rhythms, shattered melodies and twisted turns are all flowing together into a stream of consciousness now to be revealed to the world as "The Black Flux". Like the terrifyingly multi-angled creations of Lovecraft inspired architecture erected by otherworldly beings, its nine songs drift along with deceiving beauty and grace, before clawing at the listener and forcing him/her to follow them into the depths of a dark abyss filled with icy guitar-riffs. The crooning chants of a high-priest with a clear, distinctly masculine voice conjures up wild images and black magic secrets of this hidden underworld, luring the unwary even deeper into a labyrinth of blooming, cascading sounds. This dream-journey into the lost miracles of humanity's collective memory plants a VIRUS into the heart that can never be cured.

picture
"The Black Flux" arrived by a long, painful route: Carl-Michael "Czral" Eide literally hit rock bottom, when both his legs were shattered in a tragic accident in March 2005, rendering his musical career in ruins on a dark street of Oslo. Within seconds an icon and much loved figure of the prolific Norwegian Black Metal scene seemed to have expired. Carl-Michael had been the leading mastermind behind VED BUENS ENDE's cult classic "Written in Waters" (1995), which achieved a high reputation beyond the confines of the Black Metal scene with its avant-garde amalgamation of aggression and progressive or even jazzy elements.

picture
Under the name of Aggressor, Carl-Michael together with Apollyon (IMMORTAL) and later joined by Blasphemer (ex-MAYHEM, AVA INFERI) had also formed the Black Thrash underground heroes AURA NOIR in 1993, embarking on a mission of pure raw aggression. Other merits of his include CADAVER, DØDHEIMSGARD, SATYRICON, ULVER and INFERNÖ.

After having discontinued VED BUENS ENDE for several reasons, Carl-Michael created another outlet for his multi-faceted creativity, which many of his critics and followers regarded as a close relative to the VBE sound: "Carheart" appeared in the year 2003 as the first release of VIRUS. Adding elements of Death and Jazz, "Carheart" took a turn away from the Metal environment and was considered as a complex form of Avant-Garde Rock. This album was close to perfection, but still voices craved a legitimate heir to "Written in Waters".

When disaster struck in 2005 these wishes seemed futile, but Carl-Michael fought back with all his devotion and strength. First he survived a multitude of emergency surgery, and then his will saw him rise out of the wheel-chair and back onto his feet. With that same determination and newly sparked energy, Carl-Michael once more donned the name of Czral and set out to finally create a new masterpiece with VED BUENS ENDE with the plan to re-unite his old band. When one of the original members did not agree, he decided to continue under the VIRUS moniker, keeping and rearranging a lot of the music originally intended for VBE. With a new perspective in his life, Czral forged a magic link between the complexity of VIRUS with the occult darkness and biting fierceness of VED BUENS ENDE. All his musical experience and outstanding skills of composing have indeed flown together in this highly original masterpiece: "The Black Flux".

Beware! This VIRUS will infect you forever!
