With a career spanning 10 years and with over 100 shows under their belts, the live performances of Norwegian avant-gardists VULTURE INDUSTRIES  are  well known both for their technical skill and the eccentric and somewhat manic antics of frontman Bjørnar E. Nilsen, whose on-stage weirdness has garnered a multitude of fans for the band over the years.  VULTURE INDUSTRIES released their third full-length album, “The Tower” on Season of Mist at the end of last year and have collaborated extensively the HAPPY GORILLA DANCE COMPANY  in the “Turning Golem” project which is part concert rooted in the heavier segment of experimental/progressive metal and part theatre performance.  The band's  video for “Lost Among Liars”, made together with CHOIREANU, recently featured at this year’s Kort and Kortkino Film Festival, Sandnes, Norway.  More information about VULTURE INDUSTRIES can be found at vulture-industries

After 15 years of musical dedication and innovation in NEGURA BUNGET, the founding members and principal song writers Hupogrammos and Sol Faur founded DORDEDUH in 2009. Following the path started with NEGURA BUNGET, DORDEDUH is taking the musical experience further by creating a fusion between a visionary approach of black metal, unusual traditional soundscapes and experimental progressive music. The musical vision is completed by a strong conceptual background that can be revealed by the band's name itself that combines the word ‘Dor', which means a yearning for something or a deeply felt the lack of something, together with the term for spirit ‘Duh'. More information about DORDEDUH can be found at facebook.Dordeduh

Since its formation in 2004 BLUTMOND has never been a band that has been happy to limit itself to a formulaic nod in the direction of a particular genre.  Starting out as a Black Metal band and releasing their first full length album “Endzeit” in 2006, BLUTMOND quickly developed a reputation for their insane and provocative live shows, which, whilst raising their profile throughout Europe, also led them to realise that the time had come to create something that was more emotional and honest.   With Code666/Aural Music picking up their sophomore full-length album, “Thirteen Urban Ways 4 Groovy Bohemian Days” appeared in 2010, followed at the end of 2012 by “The Revolution is Dead!”, once again on Code666. These two albums demonstrated that BLUTMOND was obviously forging ahead down a more avant-garde path, but one that definitely has a distinctive edge to it.  More information about BLUTMOND can be found at facebook.blutmond

Vulture Industries Behind The Scenes Documentary Streaming. First U.S. Appearance Confrmed

The recent collaboration between Norwegian Avant-garde metallers VULTURE INDUSTRIES and the HAPPY GORILLA DANCE COMPANY which resulted in the theatrical performance “Turning Golem”, has proved to be a considerable crowd-pleaser, so much so, in fact, that the show has been booking into various venues and festivals both this year and next.  Interest in the show, which is part rooted in the heavier segment of experimental/progressive metal which features VULTURE INDUSTRIES performing music from their latest release “The Tower”, and part theatre performance which features the HAPPY GORILLA DANCE COMPANY, has grown, and as a result journalist Andrea Chirulescu has produced a “behind the scenes” documentary which explores the  ideas and concepts behind “Turning Golem”.

Featuring interviews with VULTURE INDUSTRIES frontman Bjornar E. Nilsen, who explains how the whole idea came about and how it developed, as well as with the other members of the band – guitarists Oyvind Madsen and Eyvind Huse, bassist Kyrre Teigen and drummer Tor Helge Gjengedal, who talk about the difference between performing as a band as opposed to being part of a performance ensemble, whilst members of the HAPPY GORILLA DANCE COMPANY explain their part in the project.  The documentary, which is in English, was filmed in Bergen when “Turning Golem” was recently performed at the Garage, and is currently streaming on the YouTube Channel of the Norwegian webzine Eternal Terror.  It can be seen below.

2013 has been a busy year for VULTURE INDUSTRIES who released  their third full-length album, “The Tower”, on Season of Mist in September.   As well as collaborating with the HAPPY GORILLA DANCE COMPANY, the band also worked closely with Romanian multi-media artist COSTIN CHIOREANU, whose video “Lost Among Liars”, a track from “The Tower”, recently featured at this year’s Kort and Kortkino Film Festival, Sandnes, Norway.  The video can be seen below.

Next year will also mark the first appearance of VULTURE INDUSTRIES in North America, with the band set to play at the prestigious Music, Film and Interactive Festival, South by Southwest, better known as the SXSW Festival, in Austin, Texas in March.  Other confirmed appearances by VULTURE INDUSTRIES in 2014 include The Headway Festival in Amstelveen, Netherlands, on the 11th January, Prog Power Europe, in Baarlo, Netherlands on the 4th October, and performances of “Turning Golem” at the Boule Noire in Paris, France, on the 21st February and at Metal Days in Tolmin, Slovenia, in July.  More information about VULTURE INDUSTRIES can be found on the band’s website.

VULTURE INDUSTRIES VIDEO TO FEATURE IN NORWEGIAN FILM FESTIVAL

“Lost Among Liars”, the video for a track from “The Tower, the new album from Norwegian Avant-garde Metallers VULTURE INDUSTRIES, will be featured at this year’s Kort and Kortkino Film Festival, which specialises in short films, and which will take place from the 14th to the 17th November in Sandnes, Norway.  The theme of the Festival for this year is “Sound”, and “Lost Among Liars” will be included in the programme on Thursday the 14th, along with a video from fellow Norwegian's KVELERTAK.  More information about the Kort and Kortkino Film Festival can be found here.

Romanian multi-media artist COSTIN CHIOREANU is the man behind the video, which is an animated surreal visual critique of today’s society that takes us on a journey through a surreal cityscape populated by people and machines, each with their own different duties and functions. From the vagrant loser, to the dutiful cog in the wheel of industry, to the facade of family life, to the mask salesman, all of them leading us through a story of oppression, elevation of control, and freedom.  Educated at the Bucharest National University of Arts, CHIOREANU has made his mark as a stage artist, musician, animator and movie maker, who, despite his relatively young age, has created the cover art for musicians such as ULVER, ISHAHN, ARCTURUS, AURA NOIR and DARKTHRONE, as well as VULTURE INDUSTRIES themselves.  He is the official artist for the Roadburn Festival 2014, and has been the driving force behind book and album launches.  More information about COSTIN CHIOREANU can be found here.

VULTURE INDUSTRIES recently joined forces with The THE HAPPY GORILLA DANCE company to perform ”Turning Golem”  a show that is part concert rooted in the heavier segment of experimental/progressive metal and part theatre performance.  The only remaining chance  to see “Turning Golem” outside of Norway this year will be on the 26th October at the Phantoms of Pilsen Festival in the Czech Republic.  Those living in Norway however, will not only be able to witness “Turning Golem” at the Garage in Bergen on the 25th October, but also an exhibition of some of COSTIN CHIOREANU’s artwork for “The Tower”.  A promo video for the event can be seen below.

VULTURE INDUSTRIES will upload five of the pieces of artwork that will be shown at the exhibition onto their Facebook page, one each day leading up to the event.

The avant-garde metallers recently debuted a video by the Romanian artist Costin Chioreanu for a track from “The Tower”.  “Lost Among Liars” is an animated surreal visual critique of today’s society symbolised by a journey through a surreal cityscape populated by people and machines, each with their own different duties and functions. From the vagrant loser to the dutiful cog in the wheel of industry, to the facade of family life to the mask salesman, they are all here. Each of them tells a story of oppression, restitution, control and freedom. The video can be seen below.

Vulture Industries Teams Up With Happy Gorilla Dance Company For Special Performances

VULTURE INDUSTRIES, already famed for the theatricality of the stage performances of their frontman Bjornar Nilsen, have taken it a stage further by joining forces with the HAPPY GORILLA DANCE COMPANY to create “Turning Golem”, a show that is part concert rooted in the heavier segment of experimental/progressive metal and part theatre performance.  Commenting on the band’s decision to step outside the boundaries of a straight musical performance, Nilsen had this to say: “This project is a great opportunity for us to cultivate our theatrical side, and to cross breed the howling hounds of hell with the delirious dingoes of drama. Those familiar with the energy and singularity of a VULTURE INDUSTRIES live show and who wonder how much further we can take it, are about to find out."

“Turning Golem” features music that was especially composed for the piece, and which was inspired by the music of the Ancient Sumerians - the oldest written music that has been found to date. The show will be staged on three separate occasions, the first being on the 17th August at the Dark Bombastic Evening in Transylvania, Romania, and the second at the Garage in Bergen, Norway on the 25 th October, while the third will take place at the Phantoms of Pilsen Festival in the Czech Republic on the 26th October.  The theme of “Turning Golem” is based around the premise that “truth” is relative and that we all have an inherent need to define ourselves and our world by means of a manufactured infallible system of truths. It’s about our need to believe in order to justify our own existence; about our need for meaning, and the anguish of the void.  A short movie about “Turning Golem” is also in the works.

With a their new full-length album “The Tower” due out on Season of Mist on the 27th September in Europe and the 01 October in North America, VULTURE INDUSTRIES will include the first live debut of five tracks from the album during the “Turning Golem” show in Romania.  The show in Bergen, which is coincidentally the home town of both VULTURE INDUSTRIES and the HAPPY GORILLA COMPANY, is a collaboration with BIT-Teatergarasjen, and forms part of their METEOR Theatre Festival, which will also feature an exhibition by Romanian designer Costin Chorineu  and his creations based on “Turning Golem”.  The show will also serve as the release party for "The Tower".

VULTURE INDUSTRIES are due to hit the road in September for a tour alongside LEPROUS.  Tour routing as follows:

13/9: John Dee, Oslo, Norway
14/9: Tribute, Sandnes, Norway

Artwork for “The Tower” was designed by renowned artist Costin Chioreanu, who had this to say: “Working on the cover of the new VULTURE INDUSTRIES was more than an interesting experience. The stars aligned and suddenly I discovered the opportunity to create the kind of imagery I had been dreaming about for years. “The Tower” is a very complex, smart and sadly true story to which I could relate, so this great project ended up with more illustrations than originally intended. The theme was so complex and so well put into words and music that I simply could not resist it. Yes, there is a huge influence coming from the German expressionism, but expanded through my own ways of visual expression and improved with some elements specific to the visual and philosophical analysis of society. There is surrealism, expressionism, contemporary imagery, and even some ancient graphic visual inputs. All in all, “The Tower” is an extremely well done observation of the reality that surrounds us as well as being a beautiful piece of art and I am extremely happy that I had the honor to illustrate it".

As previously announced, VULTURE INDUSTRIES are due to hit the road in September for a series of European dates guesting with LEPROUS on the first leg of their European Coal Tour. Starting in the band’s home country on September 13th, the tour routing is as follows:

13/9: John Dee, Oslo, Norway
14/9: Tribute, Sandnes, Norway
15/9: Buddy, Drammen, Norway
16/9: Parkbiografen, Skien, Norway
17/9: Musikken Hus, Gothenburg, Sweden
18/9: Debaser, Stockholm, Sweden
20/9: Nosturi, Helsinki, Finland
21/9: A2/Sputnik, St Petersburg, Russia
22/9: Tapper Club, Tallinn, Estonia
24/9: TBC, Gdansk, Poland
25/9: Progresja, Warsaw, Poland
26/9: Kwadrat, Kracow, Poland
27/9: Alte Zuckerfabrik, Rostock, Germany
28/9: Beta, Copenhagen, Denmark

VULTURE INDUSTRIES are also scheduled to perform 3 dates this year with the TURNING GOLEM project .  Part concert rooted in the heavier segment of experimental/progressive metal and part theatre performance, TURNING GOLEM is about the relative subject of “truth”. It is about our need to define ourselves and our world by ways of constructed infallible systems of truths; about our need to believe in order to justify our own existence; about our urge for meaning and the anguish of the void.  TURNING GOLEM will be performed at the following:

17 August: Dark Bombastic Evening, Alba Iulia, Romania
25 October: Garage, Bergen, Norway
26 October: Phantoms Of Pilsen, Pilsen, Czech Republic

VIRUS TO HEADLINE THE "AND NOW FOR SOMETHING COMPLETELY DIFFERENT" TOUR WITH FELLOW IRREGULARS VULTURE INDUSTRIES, KRAKOW & MONDVOLLAND

Details of the “And Now For Something Completely Different Tour” with a four-band line of experimental/avant-garde bands headed by VIRUS have been announced today.  Joining the cult Norwegians will be fellow countrymen VULTURE INDUSTRIES and KRAKOW along with the MONDVOLLAND from the Netherlands.  Confirmed dates on the December tour as follows and anyone interested in booking the two remaining dates should contact bjornar@propulsionmusic.no:

Sat 08 Dec: Ferrailleur,  Nantes (FR)

VIRUS was formed in 2000 by guitarist / singer Carl-Michael "Czral" Eide (AURA NOIR, former / founder member of ULVER, SATYRICON, DØDHEIMSGARD, CADAVER etc., along with bass player extraordinaire Petter "Plenum" Berntsen (AUDIOPAIN) and drummer Einar "Einz" Sjursø (LAMENTED SOULS, INFERNÖ,ex BEYOND DAWN), with the intention of taking key elements of Czral's former avant-garde black metal band VED BUENS ENDE further into weirdness and farther from metal. Through three critically acclaimed album releases Czral's unique dissonant guitar flavour and song writing has fascinated, puzzled and ensnared listeners worldwide, not least thanks to the live performances (as a 5-piece) the band have undertaken since early 2011, including Sonisphere, Brutal Assault, Hole In The Sky, Aurora Infernalis etc.
VIRUS is also set to release a mini album to coincide with the tour.  Titled “Oblivion Clock”, the album runs at over thirty minutes and features four new track and three bonus tracks that until now have only been available on extremely limited releases.  At the same time band will also be releasing a new vinyl edition of their sophomore album “The Black Flux”.  “Oblivion Clock”, together with a new line of VIRUS merchandise, will be available as a digifile CD on the tour, and is also already available to pre-order from virulentmusic.bigcartel.com along with the “Black Flux” vinyl. More information about VIRUS can be found on the band’s website at http://virusnorway.com/
The other three bands on the tour all bring their own very individual interpretations of the eclectic experimental/avant-garde genre.  VULTURE INDUSTRIES, whose style tends towards the more progressive and extreme, are fronted by Bjornar Nilsen, known for his manic theatrical performances which garner praise for the band wherever they appear.  They have just signed with Season of Mist for the release of their third-full length album, and will be debuting new material during the tour.  More information on VULTURE INDUSTRIES can be found the band’s website at http://www.vulture-industries.net/
KRAKOW, whose second full-length album “diin” was released on Dark Essence Records in September, could fit equally well within the post-rock, metal and stoner rock genres with a sound that ranges from dark, evocative and mesmerizing to fast, aggressive and heavy.  They recently added KAMPFAR drummer Ask Ty Arctander to their line up. More information about KRAKOW can be found on the band’s website at http://www.krakowofficial.com/
Rounding off the line up is MONDVOLLAND, who bring touches of Black Folk metal deeply rooted in ancient myths and traditions of the Eastern Netherlands to their music. The release of their “Pestvogel” EP earlier this year showed that MONDVOLLAND was embarking on a different route from their debut full-length “d’Olde Roop”, with the intention of breathing new life into the somewhat staid Pagan/Folk scene. More information about MONDVOLLAND can be found on the band’s website at http://www.mondvolland.com/
