THE HORDE Set To Release Thy Blackened Reign Through Stormspell Records

Viking Thrash band THE HORDE (IL) has inked a deal with STORMSPELL RECORDS.  Theirsophmore album, entitled Thy Blackened Reign is set for a September release.  Commented the band: "We are all very happy to be a part of the Stormspell roster," said guitarist Tim Matthews. "Thy Blackened Reign is our second album, and it's by far our heaviest and most diverse to date. Recording in analog helped get that old school feeling without losing any of the sonic power thatis held in high regard in today's extreme metal scene."

THE HORDE was formed in 2006 and released their debut album From Empire to Ashes via Scenester Credential Records in June of 2008.  Their new album was engineered, mixed and mastered by John Hopkins and John Svec at Minstrel Studios in Iowa City, IA using old school technology married with new school production values.

Check out THE HORDE live at Central Illinois Metalfest 2011 at this location.

Odin's Blood
Into War We Ride

Vengeance for a King
With Death (Comes THE HORDE)

Unleashed in 2008, From Empire to Ashes consisted of six epic, metal classics that took the listener on a journey into dark forbidden realms and all the way to the hallowed gates of Valhalla. Songs of bravery in battle, demonic warriors, clan warfare, and bewitchment that would inspire any true warrior on the fields of battle. As the band themselves proudly proclaim, "worship the glory of death!" This is real metal, played by real men of metal, for real fans of metal. That tradition continues on the band's fire-branded second release Thy Blackened Reign.

Members of The HORDE have been playing together in one form or another for the better part of two decades, having played in past regional bands from the area. With marked influence from their prior groups, The HORDE brings the perfect mix of headbanging Mosh pit chaos, epic Sword & Sorcerer monster battles, and just the slightest touch of stoner doomage.

The HORDE has shared the stage with the likes of Exodus, 3 Inches of Blood, Job For a Cowboy, Black Dahlia Murder, Soilent Green, Skeletonwitch, The Red Chord and many others...  Influenced by the likes of Venom, Celtic Frost, Metallica, Destruction, Kreator, Motorhead, Slayer, Cro-Mags, and Iron Maiden, Their next slab of pure battle metal will be a concept album which they are unleashing in September 2011 via Stormspell Records on a metal drenched fanbase.  Prepare for the HORDE to take a seat amongst the skulled thrones of previous metal masters and stand proud alongside their brothers in arms...

Mitochondrion's Archaeaeon Now Available Through Dark Descent Records

Dark, chaotic, frenzied; these are some of the words that are often used to describe Canadians Mitochondrion. Originally issued on a self-released CD and limited to 666 copies, Archaeaeon finally sees an official issue through Dark Descent Records.

Archaeaeon is now presented with a fuller sound thanks to a remaster by Colin Marston and comes complete with an eight-page layout on heavy duty matte stock to further enhance the archaic-like artwork. No longer is there a need to scrounge Ebay for the band's self-release and pay ridiculous secondary prices. Don't miss this version of one of 2008's best albums in all of its improved glory.

Archaeaeon is now shipping and available for purchase at www.darkdescentrecords.com.

"Mitochondria are present in all multicellular life forms and are related to archaic life forms which now have become modern bacteria (and archea). These are both disease bearing and life bringing. The most basic duality: life and death, creation and destruction. Archaic life adapted to these parasites and in turn has achieved higher planes of existence; higher life still depends of the parasites of old. Life depends upon that which was initially destructive/parasitic."

"Mitochondria: the basest motivators for life and the simplest essential forms that drive existence. Once a subject is stripped down to the barest of essential elements (or as the alchemist calls prima materia) it can then be built up again to a more perfect being ..."

Volturyon Announces New Vocalist

Volturyon has a new face and voice! Swedish death metal destroyers have officially announced Alexander Högbom as the band's new vocalist. Replacing Olle Ekman, Högbom is in for a baptism by fire as Volturyon performs with Demonical on the Eastern Death Infernal Tour.

Says Volturyon guitarist Andreas Olander about the new addition, "We've known Alexander for a while through his band Spasmodic and his occasional guest  appearances with us. His vocals impressed us from day one. It's with great anticipation we look into the future."

"I first made contact with Volturyon when they mailed me their promo-CD, Blood Cure," says Högbom. I was running a rock club in Ludvika by the name Cavum back then, and they wanted me to book a gig for them at the club. I listened to their promo and was really impressed, so I arranged a gig for them in August of 2008 in Ludvika. Ever since I have been a fan of Volturyon. After a few years with no further contact I received a text message from [drummer] Christian Netzell, wondering if I wanted to join the band and do the east-Europe/Baltic tour with them, and I said yes. It is quite an honor to have been chosen to do the vocals in Volturyon and to play with such skilled musicians."

Name: Alexander Högbom
Born: 1985
Favorite genres: Death Metal and Grindcore
Hometown: Ludvika, Sweden
Family: Girlfriend Johanna and my son Povel
Current bands: Volturyon and Spasmodic
Former bands: The Fundias and Mutilated

The Eastern Death Infernal Tour 2011 will run from October 26th to November 12th, focusing mainly on Baltic and Eastern European territories. Shows in Warsaw, Budapest, Bucharest and Berlin have been booked with the rest of the dates to be confirmed soon. Additional support will come from Hungary's Slytract.

The venomous brand of technical, thrash-infused Swedish death metal on new Volturyon album Coordinated Mutilation has been receiving praise from critics across the metal community. Please visit the United Guttural Records website to order your copy.
