RWAKE Announce Year-End Shows

Arkansas’ backwoods doomsayers RWAKE have announced a series of year-end shows to close out 2012. The festivities will commence December 19 in the band’s hometown of Little Rock. The band will then hit Nashville on December 28 and wrap up with a special show in Atlanta with Neurosis, Primate and US Christmas on December 29.

RWAKE recently premiered their disturbingly controversial new video for “It Was Beautiful, But Now It’s Sour” via Noisey. The 12-minute short film, directed by Danish horror aficionado Casper Haugegaard, features devastating slow motion close-ups of actual pig fetuses being absolutely annihilated by a variety of implements.

RWAKE released Rest, their first album in over four years, last year to immense critical acclaim. The harrowingly beautiful progressive/doom/sludge masterpiece is currently available for streaming HERE

RWAKE To Play Special Show In New York City This Monday

Arkansas doombringers RWAKE will play a special show with Hull this Monday, October 10, 2011 at The Mercury Lounge in New York City. For info and set times, go to THIS LOCATION.

RWAKE recently released Rest via Relapse Records. Their first new offering in over four years,Rest is less a set of songs than a perpetually evolving, deeply emotional set of missives heralding the end of times and sure to be among one of the best progressive/doom/sludge metal records of the year. Notes Revolver of the epic: "At once dense and cacophonous, bleak and thunderous,RWAKE’s latest aspires toward the sonic-cosmic apex personified by Neurosis—and comes mighty close." Rock Sound calls it “...dementedly brilliant...” while Pitchfork adds: "...a barrage of the unexpected, relighting doom from the strangest corners." In an 8/10 rated review, Decibel praises: "...Rest dials up the prog, touching on Comus' creepy forest-folk... And yet, capped by C.T.'s rebel yell and drummer Jeff Morgan's shit-kicking poly rhythms, even Rest's brainest moments tap into a rich tradition of Southern misfit culture."

Rest is streaming in its entirety on the band's official Bandcamp page. Check it out HERE.
